Talk and Tour of Masonic Village Trees

Monday, July 31, 10:15 a.m.

Meet in the Keystone Room

Join us to learn more about the beautiful trees on our campus. You’ll get a short lecture from Kristine Tebay, director of landscape and land management, before you board the bus. Handouts will be provided showing a picture of each tree we visit. Resident Karen Kostenbauder will narrate the tour with facts and some interesting history. Tropical Breeze Pool Party

Brossman Outdoor Pool

Enjoy food, fun and festivities — with a tropical twist! This party will feature music and games, with food and drinks available for purchase. Employees, employee spouses, employee dependents and retirement living residents are welcome! Learn How to Teach Your Dogs From Their Viewpoint

THURSDAYS, AUG. 3 – 31, 12:30 P.M.

Keystone Room

Understanding how dogs learn best will enable you to teach them many behaviors. This is much more fun for both you and your dog. Learn how to teach your dog to respond to basic commands for walk, sit, down, etc., as well as how the dog can take responsibility for their basic manners. “Manners” in our context means your dog knows what to do with no specific command from you (e.g. stopping at a curb when you stop or remaining by your side and not jumping when you stop to talk to someone). CELTIC ALOHA: Oceans Apart, Islands Together. Singer/guitarist/ukelelist Jamie O’Brien, a native of London and a resident of Tucson, has assembled a program that blends Celtic and Hawaiian songs, tunes, stories, and dances for an evening of shared island traditions. Along with accompanist Henry Koretzky, Jamie will blend and contrast slack-key guitar and hula with Irish ballads and dance tunes.

New Holland Band Summer Concert

SUNDAY, AUG. 13, 3 P.M.

Brossman Ballroom

The New Holland Band traces its history back to 1829, when a group of musicians from town playing fifes and drums formed a band to provide music for the 51st Regiment PA State Militia. This makes the New Holland Band the second oldest municipal band in the nation. Enjoy this wonderful band concert featuring a variety of great music. This band is currently under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Laudermilch.

KJ & TL Summer Performance

TUESDAY, AUG. 15, 7 P.M.

Trexler Terrace

This musical vocal duo shares talent and friendship as they perform standard songs and some original hits while accompanying themselves on acoustic guitars. Singer, songwriter, performer and motivational speaker “KJ” has a short first name since her last name, Reimensnyder-Wagner, is quite lengthy. Those who know her and her music realize the initials “KJ” are all you need to recognize this positive performer. She will be joined by her friend Tim Latshaw, who is also an accomplished and seasoned musician and vocalist last seen at Masonic Village with his band Lite Switch. Rain location: Deike Auditorium. Hershey, Cuba

Did you know Milton Hershey had a personal and professional interest in Cuba? Shortly after the death of Catherine Hershey in March 1915, Milton began to acquire land in Cuba. Ted Herman, adjunct professor at Elizabethtown College’s School of Graduate & Professional Studies, will discuss the past and present of Hershey, Cuba. Instructor Ted Herman is an adjunct professor at Elizabethtown College’s School of Graduate & Professional Studies, teaching leadership and humanities. Movie Showing: “The Sting”

FRIDAY, AUG. 25, 7:05 P.M.

“The Sting” stars Robert Redford and Paul Newman as two con men in 1930s Chicago. After a friend is killed by the mob, they try to get even by attempting to pull off the ultimate “sting.” No one is to be trusted as the twists unfold, leading up to one of the greatest double-crosses in movie history. Keystone Band Concert

SATURDAY, AUG. 26, 7 P.M.

Deike Auditorium and Ch. 956

The Keystone Concert Band plays a wide variety of music and has performed in many different locations, including the State Capitol, senior living communities, church picnics, community events, ice cream festivals and even weddings, in addition to regular public concerts. Made up of volunteers, the band will play a variety of tunes, including original wind band compositions, marches, movie music, Broadway and popular music medleys. Coordinated by residents Dan and Kay Kimmel, Shelby Nestler and the Make Mine Country Band returns to Masonic Village with special guests, members of the C.P.C.A. Old Fashion Square Dance Club. Featuring great country music and square dance calling for your dancin’, listenin’ and watchin’ enjoyment, the event will include some light food, beverages, fun and fellowship. Mission Impossible Outdoor Summer Concert

MONDAY, AUG. 28, 6:30 P.M.

Village Green Area

This summer outdoor concert features a new band named Mission Impossible in the shade near the Sell Chapel (indoor bad weather alternate would be the Deike Auditorium). The band may be new, but the members are each very talented and experienced musicians who perform in a variety of other groups and at various venues around southeastern PA and beyond. The concert will feature “contemporary” music standards covering hits of groups such as Chicago, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, Chuck Mangione, show tunes and many, many more. Located in the Freemasons Cultural Center, the Baird Wellness Center offers an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, functional training, personal training and group fitness classes. Massage therapy and wellness workshops on mind, body and spirit are also offered.

Open daily, from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. Staff are available Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Group exercise classes are broadcast on MVTV Monday through Friday, in the morning.

Chair caning is a dying art … but not at Rooster Woodshop. We have two craftsmen who can replace tired and broken cane in chair seats and backs and restore them to good health. If you have a chair in need of cane replacement, come see us. We will be glad to help. We can also perform many other furniture repairs, from loose joints to broken parts to broken drawers. Let us take a look at your damaged furniture to see if we can restore it to good health.

Masonic Village Rooster Woodshop is located on the corner of Freemason Drive and Umbaugh Drive. The showroom is open Monday through Friday, from 8 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m. It is also open on Saturday, from 8 – 11 a.m. There are many assorted items produced by the members. All items on display are for sale and all Masonic Village residents and employees receive a 15% discount.
