INTRODUCTION

Hello... elcome to issue 35 of Australian Papercraft Essentials. As autumn sets in and the days are getting cooler, it’s the perfect weather to spend some time in the craft room. To help you with your crafty endeavours this fall, we have lots of inspirational projects to share with you. To get you started, our fabulous free gift this month is an exclusive set of stamps and patterned papers from Acid Drops and Whatnots. Head over to page 10 for plenty of inspiration on how to use them. I love to decorate my cards with lots of embellishments, but it can get expensive so this month, we show you how to make some of your own handmade embellishments over on page 18. Mother’s Day is just around the corner and what better way to express your love and appreciation for that special lady than with a handmade card or gift? On page 23, Leanne Sue Tin creates some gorgeous projects with a vintage feel just for mum. As always, our Cut out and keep section is filled with ideas to keep you inspired too. It starts on page 33 and features some fabulous stamping projects including designs from Beccy Muir, who shares her digital images and creates some lovely floral cards. We love learning new techniques here at Australian Papercraft Essentials and this month, we explore a few different ones starting with foiled cards from Tara Capewelll over on page 53. We also look at various lettering techniques on page 60 and some fun ways to use sequins on your cards over on page 66. For more bright and cheery creations, take a look at the sunburst technique. It’s an eyecatching look, but if you find measuring and cutting patterned paper too time consuming, then the Sunburst template from Hot Off The Press is just the thing. Check out Sarah Cameron’s creations using this template on page 71. Then, for more fun techniques, flick to page 77, where Teresa Abajo explores die-cut sentiments. Of course, along with all this, we have all the usual tips, tricks and news so until next time...

Use up scraps of patterned paper!

You’ll need 3 cream pearlescent cardstock 3 patterned paper scraps 3 sentiment stamp 3 brown inkpad

Place each of the small templates onto the reverse side of your patterned paper, draw around them and cut out. Cut small pieces from each shaped panel and stick them to the corresponding area on the background cardstock, leaving narrow gaps between each piece.

Cover your card blank using patterned paper that includes a decorative border. If not, add one along the bottom edge. Stamp your sentiment on the right-hand side of the border and adhere the mosaic butterfly using 3D foam pads.
