ith the 2013 racing season coming to a close, Praga’s year has certainly been full of many triumphs and successes. This has been a year of evolution for the brand: it’s expanded through the levels of motorsports from karting to racing to endurance. A perfect parallel to our two major stories this issue, and our cover photo. This issue’s cover features one of our young stars of karting, Petr Ptacek, and seasoned race car driver Jan Charouz, who’s getting back into a Praga kart for this year’s Supernationals race. From a young driver, just starting to make his way up the ladder, to a professional driver with years of experience under his belt, Praga is proving it’s certainly the way to take your motorsport career full circle. On the karting side, we take a look back at some of the highlights from the factory team’s results this year, and of course we feature some of the bright, young stars racing on Praga around the world. We also preview our lineup for the 17th annual SKUSA Supernationals race, which takes place every year on site at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in the heart of Las Vegas. We also introduce our new dealer from China, RKR Karting, who are bringing the Praga blue to the far east with some great results. On the cars side we’ve got some great news from both the Praga-Lotus and the R1. The Praga-Lotus team gained their first podium of the season in the FIA World Endurance Championship at Circuit of the Americas. The R1 made it’s debut in the United States, with a testing held at the exclusive Monticello Motor Club in New York. And in contrast to our young stars, we talked to some professional race car drivers (including our cover’s Jan Charouz) about what it was like to make the transition from karting to racing, and how getting back into a kart keeps them on their toes. We hope you enjoy this special edition of Praga Journal, and keep an eye for next year’s first issue!

koncem roku 2013 přichází také konec závodní sezony, který byl pro Pragu velmi úspěšný, plný vítězství a novinek. Toto byl rok evoluce značky: rozrostla se jak na poli kartingu, tak v závodění ve vytrvalosti. Je to skvělou paralelou k naší titulní fotografii, a dvěma příběhům v Praga Journalu. Na titulní straně můžeme vidět jednu z naších mladých hvězd, Petra Ptáčka, a sezónního automobilového závodníka Jana Charouze, který se vrací do Praga motokáry pro letošní Supernationals závod. Od mladého jezdce, který se šplhal nahoru, po profesionálního závodníka s lety zkušeností, Praga prokazuje, že toto je cesta k motorsportové kariéře naplno. Z kartingového světa se podíváme na nejlepší výsledky továrního týmu a dále se zaměříme na Praga hvězdy, jenž závodí po celém světě. Také nahlédneme na sestavu pro 17tý ročník SKUSA Supernationals závod, který již tradičně probíhá v Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino v samém srdci Las Vegas. Představíme také nového dealera pro Čínu, RKR Karting, kteří Pragu dostávají na daleký východ se skvělými výsledky. Praga má zajímavé zprávy i z automobilového odvětví, a to jak co se týče Praga-Lotus, tak R1. Praga Lotus získala umístění na podiu ve „FIA World Endurance Championship at Circuit of the Americas.“ Praga R1 debutovala na testování v USA, které proběhlo na exklusivním Monticello Motor Club v New Yorku. Mimo to jsme vyzpovídali některé závodníky, včetně Jana Charouze, o tom, jaké to je přesedlat z motokáry do auta, a jaké to je, vrátit se nazpět do motokáry. Doufáme, že si tuto speciální edici Praga Journalu užijete, a zůstanete naladěni na další číslo, které vyjde příští rok.

FIA World Endurance Championship Podium finish for Praga Lotus LMP2 at Circuit of the Americas Photos: Tadeáš Marek
T
he Praga Lotus LMP2 car achieved its first podium at the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas. Thomas Holzer, Dominik Kraihamer and Jan Charouz in the Praga Lotus T128 LMP2 #32 finished the race in third position in the LMP2 class. It was the first podium of the season for Lotus Praga LMP2 and also the biggest success for the team so far in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The result is the first step of very hard work, necessary changes in the technical direction with steady improvements, and a clear view of what has to be achieved in order to be competitive. At the beginning of the race, the team had to overcome a shock when Jan Charouz (#32) was turned around by a competitor and James Rossiter (#31) had contact with another car in Turn 1. The Briton had to stop car #31 due to a broken steering arm as a result of the collision. The drivers of car #32 focused on their race and made consistent lap times. They were running trouble-free and
with good speed until the end of the race. The team is very pleased with the outcome of the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas and wants build on the success in the next races. Says Thomas Holzer, Race Driver for car #32: “I am very happy about our podium in Austin. We were all surprised about the result but it is a nice surprise. Everybody in the team deserved it and finally the hard work has paid off. It was great to be on the podium but nevertheless,
we have to keep working hard to have stronger results at the next races. I want to thank the team for their great job and I am looking forward to the next events.”

Praga R1: Driving the Slovakian supercar Like a mini LMP1 machine.
Praga Wins at Greek Street Race

T
he Praga R1 sat sideways at the entrance to Monticello Motor Club’s main straight, engine burbling, as I pushed buttons, pulled paddles, and regretted not paying attention to the instructions for selecting reverse. After a good (rather, not-so-good) 90 seconds of fumbling, I gave up, popped it into first and drove through the grass to get back under way. Brand new to the U.S., the Praga R1 is the latest weapon in the track-machine wars. Looking like a scaled-down LMP1 endurance racer, the R1 features a gorgeous carbon fiber monocoque. The fully enclosed cockpit has been crush-tested to withstand 19,000 lbs of pressure, offering drivers of all levels a comforting degree of safety. Open-top track rides, like those from Radical, Wolf and Caterham, might be more appealing to drivers who are claustrophobic or want a more visceral experience, but I prefer to be wrapped in a carbon fiber cocoon. The 1300-lb R1 is built in Slovakia and powered by a low-maintenance, 2.0-liter Formula Renault engine generating 210 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque. That's enough to push the car to over 160 mph. The engine output may not sound like much, until you consider the body generates a remarkable 1900 lbs. of downforce, 1.5 times its weight. So, while the R1 may not be the fastest car in a straight line, it slays corners better than any other car I’ve driven. Max cornering grip is measured at 3 Gs, compared to the Radical’s “mere” 2.5. While their approaches are very different, the higher-horsepower Radical SR3 and Praga R1 generate similar lap times. With all that downforce, braking is off the charts, too, allowing a brave driver to go to the 1.5 mark before jumping on the binders.
While the R1 is a perfect track-day car for the wealthy enthusiast, the company has also been racing them successfully in Europe. At $159,000, the R1 is not cheap. But, considering the safety, engineering, and stunning beauty of the car, it seems a fair price. Credit: Roger Garbow
T
he Patras International Circuit for Kart is a street race that takes place every year at the end of September on the central roads of Patras in Greece with the main square being the paddock. Now in its 5th year, it's considered a motorsports celebration in Greece, attracting more than 30,000 spectators. This year, the Greek Praga team was present with 1 driver in Mini category and 2 in the Masters mixed TAG
category. The team had a very strong presence and respectable results at the race, with driver Vasilis Zahos (pictured above) eventually winning in the Masters category.

READY FOR VEGAS Race preview: 17th Annual SKUSA Supernationals, 20-24 November 2013

T
he SKUSA Supernationals held at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, is considered for most the “end of the season” event to see and be seen at. It’s a race that always brings the excitement, and this year is sure to be no different. Last year, Praga’s lineup included world champion drivers, and this year, we’re bringing the competition again, with factory drivers lined up in several categories. Our national teams are representing with their championship-winning drivers, and we’ve also got some of the brightest, upand-coming race drivers from the Indy and WEC series competing with us. All in all, it’s guaranteed to be an action-packed weekend, and Praga has their eye set on conquering many of the podiums. Factory driver Patrik Hajek is again competing in the fierce KZ category, where he took 3rd place last year. This year he’s hoping to make it all the way to the top. Joining him for KZ is new Factory team driver Jonathan Thonon, in his second race with the brand. Praga’s also bringing some of its youngest drivers to the show, including Petr Ptacek Jr. and Rasmus Lindh in the TaG Cadet category. Ptacek Jr. recently claimed the Mini 60 titles for the Czech Karting Cup and Slovak Championship, while Lindh is the newest member of the factory team, and already has some great results under his belt. And of course Praga owner Petr Ptacek cannot be left out: he will again partake in the S4 category Praga also has several race car drivers who are jumping back into the kart for the event. Up-and-coming IndyLights star Matthew Di Leo, who owns and drives for his own team, MDL Racing, is

competing in the favored S1 category. Another Indycar driver will also be under the tent. Carlos Munoz, who finished 2nd this year at the Indy500, will be competing the KZ category alongside Hajek and Thonon. From Indy to WEC, Czech driver Jan Charouz will be joining Praga in the ROTAX DD2 class. Charouz races for the Praga Lotus team in the LMP2 category of the WEC series. The national teams also have several powerhouses on deck. Leading Edge Motorsports, west coast Praga dealer, is bringing the heat with seasoned driver Trevor McAlister, aka TMac, in the S4 Masters Stock Moto category. And Canada's Goodwood Kartways/ IPK North America has several top drivers lined up, including ROTAX Senior National Champion Zachary Claman Demelo. Year in Review: Praga’s Czech Racing Teams Výsledky jezdců z týmů Praga na závodech v ČR
T
his season was a very successful one for Praga in the Czech Republic, especially in the Cadet categories where Praga focused much of its attention. Praga was the main partner for the Czech Championship series, and also supported the Mini and Baby Categories by loaning out 25 IAME Parilla Mini 60 motors. A pleasing result for both the brand and the owner of Praga, Petr Ptacek, was his son Petr Ptacek Jr. who lead the championships in the Mini 60 category, finishing 2nd in the Czech Championship, 1st in the Karting Cup Championship, and 1st in the Slovak Championship for the 2013 season. Praga will continue to support the growth of the Cadet Categories in 2014.

Year in Review: Praga Kart Racing Team The Praga Kart Racing team, official factory team for the brand, certainly has had a whirlwind of a season. The team has gained several new drivers and seen its top driver triumph over injury, all while conquering podiums in the process. As the season comes to a close, we take a look back at some of the highlights from this year.
WSK Master Series
T
he team started off the year right, with its first podium of the season coming at the first race of the WSK Master Series. Czech driver Patrik Hajek, in the KZ2 category, finished 3rd at the opening round of the series. He conquered the podium again in round 3, this time taking 2nd place. An injury to the eye, sustained at the 2nd round of the Euro series, kept Hajek from competing in several races this year, including the second and final rounds of the Masters Series. Overall, Hajek took 5th place in the series, a great feat considering he only competed in two of the four rounds. Technical Manager Alessandro Manetti also threw his hat into the ring this season, competing in the off race when possible. While he was racing primarily for testing purposes, Manetti’s talent and skill also brought the added bonus of some great finishes, including 4th place at the final round of the series.

WSK Euro Series Hajek was also in the lineup for the top category, KZ1, at the WSK Euro Series. A highly competitive category, filled with some of the best drivers in the world, the Czech driver was still able to claim some impressive results in the series. With a 6th place finish at the first round, the second round was an unlucky one for Hajek. At the circuit in Zuera, he sustained an injury to his eye, but still managed to finish the race just outside the top ten (11th). After taking a few weeks to recover, he came back for the 3rd round with a 7th place finish, and ended the series with another podium (3rd). Hajek finished 8th overall in the series.
Joining Hajek in the Euro Series was teammate Karol Dabski, in the KF category. The Polish driver fought hard throughout the season in a very deep and competitive field. He managed to overcome some unlucky circumstances to achieve some good results too: 11th in round 2 and 12th in round 3.

CIK-FIA At the CIK-FIA European and World Championships, Praga made a very good showing in a deeply competitive field. At the first round of the Europeans, KZ driver Patrik Hajek displayed excellent performance throughout the weekend with a respectable top ten finish (9th place). At round two, Hajek was absent, but Praga again gained a top ten finish, this time in the KZ2 category with Alessandro Manetti
(8th place). At the Worlds, Praga had 5 drivers under the factory tent, and gained a podium finish at the highly regarded championship. Hajek, again in KZ, was up front the entire weekend, but contact in the final kept him from showing what he was truly capable of. In KZ2, meanwhile, Praga took a 2nd place finish with French driver Alexandre Arrue, who displayed outstand-
ing performance, and rounded out the top ten with another French driver, Julien Goupy (10th place). The Praga Kart factory team is already looking ahead to next season, hoping to increase their already strong team. with the hard work and preparation going into next season, the team is sure to conquer even more podiums. dd French Driver Arrue placed 2nd at the KZ2 International Supercup.

RISING YOUNG STARS
While everyone knows the big names in the world of karting, those stars have to be born somewhere. That’s exactly what’s happening with Praga (and sister brand OK1), who are turning out some of the top, young drivers around the world. We take a look at some of the bright, young talents in karting who are bound for stardom. Keep an eye out for these youngsters; they may just be the next big racing stars!
Petr Ptacek Jr. Czech Republic
A native Czech and the son of Praga owner, you can be sure that racing is at the heart of young talent Petr Ptacek Jr. Competing since age seven, the now 11 year-old has quickly moved up the ranks at the national series in his home of Czech Republic. This year, he competed in the three major national series: Czech Championship, Czech Karting Cup, and Slovak Championship. He took home the title of Champion in the two latter series, and 2nd place in the former, all in the Mini 60 class. He also got his feet wet at the international level in the first rounds of the WSK Master Series. Rasmus Lindh Sweden
The young Swedish driver is the latest addition to the Praga Kart Racing factory team. The 12 year-old has been competing since 2008. This year, he finished out the season with Praga in the Mini 60 class where he took 5th place overall at the WSK Master series. Lindh will be racing the Cadet class with Praga at Supernationals, before he moves up to KF-Junior next year, where we’ll certainly see the Swede taking the class by storm.

Marino Sato Japan
At 14 years old, the native Japanese driver joined the ranks of the official Praga Kart Racing factory team this year, and he’s already proving to have the speed to keep up with the best. Facing a steep learning curve after making the leap from national to international series, Sato is competing in both open series (KF-Junior) and ROTAX (ROTAX Junior), and constantly growing and improving his skills and speed.

Julien Andlauer France
The 14 year-old French driver first stepped into a kart at age 4, and has been making waves ever since. He races for the French team Action Karting, competing in several national series in the Nationale (Junior) class. So far this season, he was named Vice-Champion at the NSK series, Champion at the Regional Championship series, and took a second place finish at the 2nd round of the FFSA French Championship.

Xavier Harris Canada
The young Canadian driver has only been behind the wheel for 2 years, but that hasn’t stopped him from making his mark at the major national Canadian races this year. In the MicroMax class, Harris competed in the Florida Winter Tour, and continued the season in the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, ASN Canadian Na-
tional Karting Championship, as well as other local and regional series. In the ECKC series, Harris finished 5th overall in his class, while he was 3rd at the Canadian Nationals. He also gained a ticket to this year’s ROTAX Grand Finals. Photo: Cody Schindel, canadiankartingnews.com
Matthew Barry Canada
Another Canadian driver, Barry started the year on sister brand OK1 in the MicroMax class, and has now moved to Praga in the MiniMax class. The 11 year-old driver has only been racing for (number) years, but his immense talent is clearly apparent: his times and results are right up there with the top drivers his age, most of whom have more experience and years behind the wheel. The young Canadian is determined to keep pushing, and with his recent move to MiniMax, we’re sure to see great things from him next season.

Griffin Kunz United States
American driver Griffin Kunz began his racing career at age 7 with Arrive & Drive races at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex before deciding to compete in a few select national events in 2012. In 2013, he ran a full program in the US Pro Kart Series, WKA Manufacturers Cup and Great Lakes Sprint Series along with select club races. The now 9 year-old drives a Praga Piccolo for the Kartwerks USA team, under the management of Dan Schlosser. Kunz had a fantastic season, taking the Yamaha Rookie championship title at USPKS, along with several other podiums throughout the year.
Jett Johnson Australia
The 8 year-old Australian is the youngest (and newest) driver to the sport, having been karting for just over a year in the Cadet class. But he has racing in his blood: his father is Steve Johnson, V8 supercar driver and his grandfather is V8 racing legend Dick Johnson, who run Australia’s oldest racing team, Dick Johnson Racing. The young protégé already has an impressive record: he was 2nd in the Young Guns Titles at Lismore, 3rd in the Junior Top Guns at Warwick, and 3rd at Bundaberg. Expect to see a lot more from Johnson, as he wants to follow in the family’s racing footsteps.

Jan Charouz Age: 26 Competes in World Endurance Championship with Praga Lotus LMP2
1. Tell us a bit about your personal history with karts and karting. I started racing in go-karts when I was seven years old, until I was about fourteen. My last season was in the Formula A category, where I was Czech Vice Champion. This race [SKUSA Supernationals] will be my first race in Karts after almost 10 years, so I’m very excited. 2. What was your best experience in karting? Besides all of the common things that make karting great, I really enjoyed the traveling aspect. All of the trips we took to Italy, getting to experience great food (ed. note: when he’s not racing, Charouz is a fantastic chef), the atmosphere at the races, and meeting lots of interesting people.

3. When did you take the next step into race cars, and how did that transition progress?
5. Why do you think it’s important for professional race car drivers to regularly get back into a kart?
After karting, I started on a Ford Fiesta when I was 14. Then I moved up into Formula BMW, Formula 3000, and finally LMP1 prototypes. I’m now racing the Praga Lotus LMP2 car in the World Endurance Championship, and I also did one race with the Praga R1 at the Supercar Challenge series.
It is very good for fitness, and it’s a way keep racing and driving when your racing program doesn't allow that.
4. What skills gained through karting are you able to apply to your racing performance? Karting is the best preparation for racing. It teaches you so many types of skills: tight racing, strategy, car control, coping with nerves, a lot of things.
6. What are your future plans in racing, and do you see karts playing a role in these plans at all? I plan to continue racing with the LMP cars. But I would also like to do much more kart racing next year, if my schedule allows for it.

I still managed to finish the race in 4th, but it was the most challenging and most difficult race I've ever done. For those reasons I chose this, as a "best experience" doesn't have to be when you win a race. When did you take the next step into race cars, and how did that transition progress?
Matthew Di Leo Age: 18 Competes in IndyCar IndyLights Series for his own team MDL Racing
Tell us a bit about your personal history with karts and karting. Well I started racing when I was 9 just for fun, doing club and regional events. I won the 60cc championship and the Junior Heavy championship when I was 11. At 14 I met Adam Kretschmer and started to really push hard in my go-karting and racing career. I raced DD2 when was 14 and competed at top levels of karting in North
America and Europe. At the nationals in my first year in DD2, I finished fourth with a broken seat. The next year I had the speed to win it, but finished 5th. I was also racing KZ2 while racing DD2 in my last year, and I was the KZ2 shifter champion. What was your best experience in karting? Best experience in karting was probably my first grand national race. Being 14 and hav-
I took the step when I was 15. I started off in Mazda Miatas. I was the youngest there and got a lot of podiums but I wasn't looking to run in a sedan series. So I found a team for USF2000. The whole season the team was very bad and I couldn't finish with them, so I decided to make my own team the last race in Baltimore. I finished 5th in the championship. Next year, I came in strong with my own team and we were the only car who could challenge the fast Cape Motorsports cars. I had a lot of podium and top 5 finishes and was 4th in championship. What skills gained through karting are you able to apply to your racing performance? You learn a lot about racecraft with go-karting. All the karters really know how to battle when they move up to cars. Also the mindset is the same from karting to IndyLights, which is what I currently race. Why do you think it’s important for professional race car drivers to regularly get back into a kart? It's important to be in the kart because it really keeps your mind and reactions fast. The car feels a lot slower so going back in the kart will improve your reaction times. Also it's a very good way to train, it really works your body, just the same way as the Indylights does. I believe it's very important to be practicing in a kart and racing all the time. What are your future plans in racing, and do you see karts playing a role in these plans at all? My future racing plan is to be in IndyCar. I definitely believe that go-karting will be a part of my future. You always need to be in a kart, it is highly beneficial and crucial to being a fast racecar driver.

such as being 2011 Touring Car champions, winning the 24 Hours of Mexico, and racing the complete 2012 Polo R Cup India as a JK Tyre supported driver. I’m currently racing the Mexican TC2000 series, along with my new cooperation with Praga Racing in the Supercar Challenge series. Most recently, I raced at Spa Francorchamps in the Praga R1, which was a great experience to drive a car with such performance. What skills gained through karting are you able to apply to your racing performance? For sure, without karting I wouldn´t perform as I do. It taught me everything about racing technique, race management, and emotional control. You gain respect and awareness of all the factors that can make you win or lose a race, and learn the importance of consistency. But it also taught me one of the most important aspects of racing, which is to have fun. Why do you think it’s important for professional race car drivers to regularly get back into a kart?

Tell us a bit about your personal history with karts and karting. My history with karting has been long and full of passion. I started out by myself, learning all the ups and downs, acting as my own mechanic, and studying everything about chassis and engine tuning. I used to go to the races with my kart tied to the top of my old VW Golf! And my mother always supported me, and played a key role in my success, but we never had the financial backing so I had to find the support by myself. What was your best experience in karting?
My experience in karting was quite tough, as I didn't have financial support, but I still managed to do very well. Probably one of
my best memories was winning races in the 2009 Formula A Cup in Mexico, which was really competitive, and many of the drivers I competed against are doing well in the car racing scene now. When did you take the next step into race cars, and how did that transition progress? My first step into cars came through a lot of hard work. I used to help at Alamo Sports Cars in San Antonio, Texas, and they gave me my first chance to drive in the Local Formula Ford Class where I won a couple of races. I will always be thankful to them for allowing me to take that step. Eventually, I landed factory drives, including the very professional VW Motorsport Mexico. I raced in Mexico and also in India with them. There were many great memories,
First of all, it is one of the best physical activities, and you get to have fun while doing it. I think it is just as difficult to be competitive in top-level karting as it is in car racing , so to get back in a kart just makes you more skillful and really enhances your racecraft. What are your future plans in racing, and do you see karts playing a role in these plans at all? My future plans in racing are very much related to the Praga R1 project, not only in Europe but also in the US and my home country of Mexico. Karting will also play a huge role in my future. I will be racing at the SKUSA SuperNationals with Praga, in the TaG Senior class, and I’m very grateful and excited for this opportunity. I am also putting together a Praga karting team for next year, to compete at SKUSA Mexico races, as well as some US races, and I will use this opportunity to get back into a kart and race whenever my schedule allows it.

In our “Tips and Advice” section, we discuss the important steps to start or develop a successful motor sports career. In the last issue, we touched on the importance of technical knowledge and in this issue we will delve into that topic further as we learn about telemetry. Vážení přátelé motoristického sportu, v naší rubrice „Rady a nápady“, se věnujeme důležitým krokům, jak začít nebo rozvíjet úspěšnou motoristickou kariéru. V minulém čísle jsme si probrali podrobněji důležitost technických znalostí a v tomto čísle budeme toto téma dále popisovat.
Telemetry data Telemetry data are nowadays an essential part of karting, as well as other motorsport disciplines. Hence, there is an increasing demand
for the knowledge and application of telemetry for racing teams and their crews. Assessment of the driver’s driving style and comparison to other drivers is the way to achieve an increase in performance. It is always important to know exactly in which sectors of the track there is still room for improvement. You should compare your data against your best times achieved as well as the data of your teammates.
Any changes to the chassis setup are directly reflected in the telemetry data and will help to gradually improve problematic track sectors. Likewise, this method also evaluates the driver’s driving style, trajectory of driving, acceleration, braking points, and intensity of braking. In testing, sensors that monitor the temperature of the tires are also used. This helps achieve the optimal use of tires and chassis setup and tire pressure, and of course it again displays aspects of driving style. Using telemetry data to evaluate the performance of the engine is another important point. The driver, together with the engine tuner, must have a complete understanding of the data, in order to maximize the efficiency of the engine. In order to maximize the

engine’s potential power, the most important thing is to follow the recommended values from the data. Harnessing the power of the engine is always dependent on two factors: the ideal suspension setting, to avoid loss of power due to failing chassis and, the method of use of the engine’s performance curve along with optimal shifting. These are important facts that are essential to achieve maximum performance. Personal training of driver and the team’s crew in the evaluation of telemetry data is an important but highly challenging activity. Here we try to describe as clearly as possible the points as simply as possible for the use of the general public.

Telemetrická data Telemetrická data jsou v dnešní době nezbytnou součástí a stejně jako u jiných automobilových disciplín, jsou i v kartingu více a více využívána. Z toho důvodu se zvyšují požadavky na znalost práce s telemetrií celého týmu a jezdce i mechanika. Vyhodnocení způsobu jízdy jezdce a porovnání s jiným jezdcem je cesta k dosažení posunu výkonnosti. Vždy je třeba vědět přesně, ve kterém úseku trati je rezerva. Porovnávají se jak data vlastní oproti nejlepším dosaženým časům, tak data kolegů v týmu. Každá změna nastavení podvozku se přímo projevuje na telemetrických datech a postupně se tak zlepšují problematické úseky tratě.
Stejně tak se vyhodnocuje způsob jízdy jezdce, vyhodnocuje se trajektorie jízdy, akcelerace, brzdné body a intenzita brzdění. V testovacích jízdách se často používají senzory snímaní teploty pneumatik. Tento test pomáhá v dosažení optimálního využití pneumatik a to set-upem podvozku a tlakem pneumatik. A samozřejmě i stylem jízdy jezdce. Telemetrická data a jejich vyhodnocení pro motorovou jednotku je dalším důležitým bodem. Jezdec společně s ladičem motorů musí tato data bezpodmínečně ovládat a ze strany jezdce je třeba, aby maximálně dodržoval pokyny ladiče motorů. V případě maximálního využití výkonu motoru je dodržování doporučených hodnot nejdůležitější. Využití výkonu motoru je vždy závislé na dvou faktorech. 1, ideální nastavení podvozku, tak aby nedocházelo ke ztrátě výkonu z důvodu nefunkčního podvozku a za 2, způsob využití výkonnostní křivky motoru spolu s optimálním převodem rychlostí. Toto jsou důležitá fakta, která jsou nezbytně nutná pro dosažení maximálních výkonů. Vlastní vzdělávání jezdců a pracovníků týmu v oblasti vyhodnocování telemetrických dat je tedy důležitou ale velice náročnou činností. Snažíme se zde co nejsrozumitelněji popsat jednotlivé body jezdecké abecedy a snažíme se, aby to vedlo jako návod pro obecnou motoristickou veřejnost.
