An Event to Remember

Blood Donation Drive

“Your droplets of blood may create an ocean of happiness for someone”. This was the central theme and slogan of the Blood Donation Drive organised by “Rotaract Club” of Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Bengaluru in collaboration with Rotary TTK Blood Bank (Rotary Bengaluru Blood Centre). The Blood Donation Drive was organised on 17th May 2022 within the premises, in the MDP Room of Welingkar Institute, Bengaluru.

The preparations, promotions and arrangements for the Blood Donation Drive started one week prior to the Actual Drive Day. People were encouraged and told advantages to donate blood as it actually improves heart health, replenishes blood, lower cholesterol level etc to name a few. There was a form circulated three days prior to the people who wished to donate blood, their responses were collected by the Rotaract Club team and instructions were laid out to them to keep in mind before donating blood. The Blood Donation Drive was inaugurated by Welingkar Bengaluru’s Senior Dean and Senior Vice President -Professor Anil Subbarao Paila. The Blood Donation Drive started at 11 am in the morning and continued till 5:30 pm in the Evening.

Every Donor which came in for Blood Donation were medically examined, they were asked to fill an application form by Rotary TTK Blood Bank, they were also medically examined, that is their haemoglobin levels, blood pressure etc were monitored before they were proceeded for Blood Donation. There were also few walk-ins on the Blood Donation Drive Day, they were too made to fill an Application Form and were also medically examined and when they satisfied all the above criteria, only then they were allowed to donate blood. The Rotaract Club members were on duty to help the Rotary Blood Bank staff, doctors and donors, if they needed any help.

The Donors were provided with fruit juice and refreshments after donating blood. In Total, 87 Donors donated blood and 87 units of blood was collected at the Blood Donation Camp. As said by Rotary TTK Blood Bank, 87 units of Blood is the highest Blood donated by any Institute and Welingkar Institute, Bengaluru broke long standing 4 Year Record. Rotary Bengaluru Blood Centre in association with Bangalore Medical Services Trust gave Certificate of Acknowledgement and Letter of Appreciation to Welingkar Institute, Bangalore for their distinguished service in the area of Voluntary Blood Donation and expressed gratitude to volunteers for their sincere efforts in making this Blood Donation Drive a huge success. The Blood Donation Drive conducted by Rotaract Club of Welingkar Bangalore was further recognized as it’s mention and Photo of the Event was also featured in Crossing -The House Magazine of Rotary Bangalore Junction.

The Blood Donation Drive in May was a Grand Success in all respects and Rotaract Club of Welingkar Institute, Bangalore, looks forward to continued support from Rotary TTK Blood Bank so that more such Voluntary Blood Donation Drives can be conducted and to make the further Blood Donation Events even more successful than the previous events.
