PROLOGUE

Hi! I am Prashanth Saravanan, a fashion communication amateur and an aspiring photographer. I have realized how important it is to be open and versatile in order to learn and explore as much as possible. Fashion styling has always been an interesting area for exploration as it involves a lot of thought and creativity.

I put all my heart into visual expressionism and strive to create fresh content. I believe that the simplest things provide the biggest inspirations. While styling is something we all do naturally, I tend to put in emotions and personalize it. All I hope my art say is this person lives and was here.

CONCEPTUAL STYLING

BOHO CHIC Boho is short for bohemian, and typifies a style of dress inspired by the lifestyle of free spirits and hippies of the 1960s and 1970s, and even the pre-Raphaelite women of the late 19th century.

CLIENT'S INFORMATION My client's name is Shradha BK, a fashion student. Her lifestyle is simple student life with little extravagance on the weekend.

WHEN? WHERE? My client's routine is pretty casual. Movies, shopping in the weekends and college in weekdays. With festivals and occasions often casual, ethnic and formal-wear all comes in handy for her lifestyle.

HOW'S THE STYLE! Considering the likes and dislikes of the client look-boards are created from her wardrobe. Her face shape is 'square' and body type is triangle. The brand-preference, colors, fabrics, personality, budget all are taken in account and a styling suggestion is made.

JADEN SMITH Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (born July 8, 1998) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. He is the son of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith. Jaden Smith's first movie role was with his father in the 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness. He also acted in the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still and the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid, and was in the 2013 film After Earth with his father.

Jaden Smith may be only 20 years old, but he’s already made an impact on the fashion world with his one-of-a-kind, boundarypushing style. The multihyphenate son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett has worn always worn what he likes, from his days of rocking a white Batman suit to challenging gender fashion norms in his go-to women’s Louis Vuitton LV Archlight sneakers.

In Jaden’s magical world, water bottles can be cell phones, fine jewelry can be hair ties, and recentlyshorn locks can be evening bags. Needless to say, the 20-year-old isn’t afraid to test run today’s weirdest and wildest fashion trends either, sometimes all at the same time. 27

MANNEQUIN STYLING

THE UGLY SIDE OF EVERY THING Here, the mannequin is styled, inspired from collage art and pop art. The goal is to represent the ugly truth about waste that is being dumped everyday. Nearly 20% of global waste water is . produced by the fashion industry. It takes more than 5,000 gallons of water to manufacture just a T-shirt and a pair of jeans.About 15% of fabric intended for clothing ends up on the cutting room floor. This waste rate has been tolerated industry-wide for decades. The stylist has aimed to create awareness of this elephant in the room through the collage by placing the tri-colored Indian flag to describe the worst state of environment in the country. Everyday plastic waste is used to depict the ascending pace at which we affect the environment without being aware of it

CLIMATE STRIKE

global youth driven protest

Written by PRASHANTH SARAVANAN

Last year Greta Thunberg a sixteen year old girl from Sweden skipped school every Friday not for fun but to sit in front of the parliament to tell the world what’s the point of going to school if the world is going to end. The inaction towards climate crisis by the governments around the world came into light. Greta inspired a lot of youth to fight for the environment more than anybody else, starting a worldwide youth driven environmental protest. On the 20th of September the world came together for the global climate strike and made sure that the leaders and politicians listen to us. A year of continuous protests has resulted in the UN calling all the world leaders for the climate action summit on the 23rd of September at the UN headquarters in New York.

40

But the time for awareness has already passed and now it’s high time for action. The climate crisis cannot be tackled if the youth just put all the blame on the government though they are the major reason for the threat, The responsibility lies on all of our hands to bring about the change foreseen. Even in India there is so much apathy towards the environment. In spite of all the rallies and campaigns happening in the country it still faces many environmental threats and the carbon emission level is ascending. The people in the country speak so much about climate change but when it comes to action a very few are adapting their lifestyle for the betterment of the nature. Greta’s idea of the climate strike has three stages –

Protect, restore and fund. While we are busy fighting to protect the environment we tend to forget the other two steps. Restoring the nature literally means planting more trees and anyone can do without the government’s aid. Funding for the new ideas towards a more sustainable mode of transport, fashion and food could be carried out by every individual. Taking public transport more frequently, using solar panels and limiting the use air-conditioners, car-pooling all these small steps play an impact role in handling the climate hazard. While the young changemakers and leaders of world come together with ideas and actions against climate change at the climate action summit it is primal time for all of us to work together for a better tomorrow.

BRANDING THROUGH PACKAGING SUPERPAW tries to be minimalist in design when it comes to packaging. The brand identity is created by querky fonts and funky prints but it is very monotonous.

The brand is grounded to nature from its manufacturing stage and green naturally becomes the color of the brand. With shades of green and cream the design is kept simple. The innovation and sustainability comes in the shape of the box. The box is uniquely made into a triangle shaped one with the idea of leaving the sides open. Thus reducing the amount of cardboard used in each shoe box by nearly 50%. A small strap is provided at the top making the box itself easy to carry. The box can be reused for various purposes by the customers. This helps in showcasing the shoes more easily in the display and also occupies less space.
