Alisabeth Irizarry named Junior Preceptor of the Year
In order to build in "layered learning," relieve some time burden from preceptors, and strengthen the precepting skills of 4th year students, we have created a "Junior Preceptor" program for APPE students.
During the Fall Week IPPE, P2s have daily reading assignments that they re ect on and discuss with their assigned junior preceptor The APPE student (Junior Preceptor) arranges a time to meet with the IPPE student by phone, zoom, or in-person (if at the same site) and discuss the daily readings. The Junior Preceptor is responsible for coaching and mentoring the IPPE as well as giving feedback to the IPPE preceptor if needed
We feel that this peer-to-peer precepting is very impactful to both sets of students We will also have recognition of these APPE students who participate and an award for "Junior Preceptor of the Year!"
The 2022-2023 Junior Preceptor of the Year is Alisabeth Irizarry In August, Alisabeth was on APPE at Prosperity Drug and helped precept 2 IPPE students She was nominated for Junior Preceptor of the Year and the following comments were shared with her nomination:
