90% OF CAMPUS IS ACTIVE IN INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS OR INTRAMURAL SPORTS
We get this question a lot. And the answer is all about athletics.
When PC sports teams wore blue socks (or “hose”) back in the 1900s, sportswriters would refer to them as the “Blue Stockings.” Over time, the nickname shortened to “Blue Hose.” Today it’s come to stand for fierce Scottish warriors, as a nod to our Scottish heritage.
PC Traditions: Proud to Be a Blue Hose
Your time at PC isn’t marked just by classes and studying. Some of the most transformative parts take place throughout campus, through the traditions and events we’ve kept alive for generations of alumni. And now, you get to make it part of your legacy.
Here are some signature PC events to look forward to!
Orientation and Welcome Week
The annual Shuckin’ and Shaggin’. A block party in downtown Clinton. Day of Community Service. Those are just some of the activities and events you can expect your first week at PC, jampacked with ways to (re)explore the campus and community.
Homecoming
We go big for Homecoming at PC. Students, alumni, faculty, and family all gather for a day of food, fun, and football with events for all ages to enjoy—including crowning our Homecoming court.
True Blue Friday
On Fridays, we wear blue. Show off your Blue Hose pride every Friday by donning Presbyterian blue and joining our faculty, staff, and other students in supporting PC. Go Hose!
Spring Fling
Prepare for bouncy castles, ferris wheels, and more festival fun on campus during our Spring Fling, an annual event that allows students to let loose carnival-style at the end of the year.
Ring the Bell
Every year, PC seniors celebrate their career offers and graduation goals by ringing the bell next to Neville Hall. Consider it something to look forward to for your graduation!
I
love PC because of how close-knit the community is and how it feels like a big family. My experience here has been amazing.

Tips for a Smooth Move-In
• Box and bundle your items for easy grab and go to bring into the residence hall.
• Pack a suitcase with essentials for easy access over the next few days while you’re unpacking the rest of your things.
• Hang clothes on hangers and wrap with a trash or garment bag to keep them contained and closet-ready.
• Reverse pack your car: For items you want to unload first, pack them last in the car at home so they’re the first things you’re able to unpack at school.
• Organize similar items together with labels to easily find what you need (bedding, clothes, etc.)
• Use clear totes to easily track and find items throughout your move-in day (and for the rest of the year).
• Check out the prohibited items list on our Residence Life page before you do your college shopping to make sure you don’t bring anything that’s not allowed on campus.
• Bring a lanyard or key ring to put your room key on immediately so you don’t lose it in the moving process.
Make your room at PC feel like home with a few simple decor ideas that show off your personal taste and style.
Make it cozy.
Rugs: A soft rug can make your room cozier and more comfortable. Choose a rug that complements your overall decor.
Bean Bags or Floor Pillows: Provide additional seating with bean bags or floor pillows that can also be used for studying or lounging.
Fairy Lights in Jars: Place fairy lights in Mason jars or glass containers to create a magical and ambient lighting effect.
Put the “fun” in functional.
Corkboard or Bulletin Board: Hang a corkboard or bulletin board to keep track of important dates, display artwork, or pin up inspirational quotes.
Shelves and Storage: Decorative shelves not only provide extra storage, but also serve as a display for your books, plants, or important items.
Command™ Hooks and Strips: Use removable Command hooks and strips to hang items without damaging the walls. They’re great for organizing and decorating!
Add some flare.
String Lights: Hang string lights around your room to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. You can drape them along the walls, around your bed frame, or even along your desk.
Tapestries: Tapestries are a great way to cover large wall spaces and add color and pattern to your room. And they come in various designs to suit your style.
Plants: Bring in a touch of nature with indoor plants for your room. Succulents, snake plants, and pothos are low-maintenance options.
And for a personal touch…
Photo Collage: Create a photo collage on one of your walls with pictures of family, friends, and memorable moments. You can arrange them in creative shapes or use string lights to outline the photos.
DIY Art: Create your own art or crafts to hang on the walls for a personal touch that can make your room feel truly unique.
Themed Decor: Choose a theme that reflects your interests, whether it’s a specific color scheme, movie, TV show, or hobby.
There you have it! With a few minor touches and tweaks, you can make your room feel truly your own.

A Whole New World of Ramen
Turn a college staple into a gourmet meal with a few simple tricks.
Classic Ramen Upgrade
Start with a packet of instant ramen noodles. Boil water in a microwave until it reaches the desired temperature. Add the seasoning packet, stir, and enjoy.
For extra flavor, you can add:
• Chopped scallions
• A boiled egg
• Frozen vegetables
Peanut Butter Ramen
Cook your ramen noodles as usual. Then drain most of the water. Mix in a tablespoon of peanut butter, a splash of soy sauce, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a simple, tasty twist.
Veggie Ramen Stir-Fry
Cook ramen noodles, drain them, and set them aside. Microwave your favorite vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, etc.) and toss with soy sauce when they’re done. Mix in the cooked ramen noodles, add more soy sauce to taste, and stir until well combined.
Spicy Ramen
Make your ramen as usual, but add a teaspoon of sriracha or your favorite hot sauce for some heat. You can also top it with sliced jalapeños and a squeeze of lime.
Easy-PC Specialty Sandwiches
Graduate from PB&J into a world of possibilities.
Caprese Sandwich: Layer slices of fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil leaves between two slices of bread. Drizzle with balsamic glaze or vinegar and a touch of olive oil.
Turkey Cranberry Sandwich: Spread cream cheese on one slice of bread. Add sliced turkey and a spoonful of cranberry sauce. Top with lettuce or spinach for freshness.
Avocado and Hummus Sandwich: Mash avocado onto one slice of bread and spread hummus on another slice. Add sliced cucumber, red onion, and your choice of greens for a satisfying vegetarian option.
Tuna and Apple Salad Sandwich: Mix canned tuna, diced apple, celery, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Then spread the salad mix onto two slices of whole-grain bread.
Fancy Popcorn
Movie theater butter is great… but these simple popcorn tweaks are even better.
Truffle Popcorn: Drizzle melted butter or olive oil over popcorn and sprinkle with truffle salt or a few drops of truffle oil. Toss to coat evenly.
Caramel Popcorn: Make a quick caramel sauce by melting butter and mixing it with brown sugar. Drizzle the caramel over your popcorn and toss to coat. Let it cool before eating.
Parmesan and Herb Popcorn: Toss popcorn with melted butter, grated Parmesan cheese, and dried herbs like basil, oregano, or rosemary. Add a pinch of garlic powder for extra flavor.
S’mores Popcorn: Mix popcorn with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crushed graham crackers for a sweet and salty treat.
