Creating opportunities for telehealth education, assessment, and care through Hotspotting (CO-TEACH): An interprofessional telehealth delivery curriculum and guide

A recent article in the Journal of Interprofessional Education and Practice examined the urgent need to educate students across health professions in telehealth delivery following the practice changes of COVID-19.Student and faculty from Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill created a pilot to facilitate this and describe it in the paper The framework may be useful for other sites exploring how to engage and educate students in this skill

The CO-TEACH curriculum aims to equip interprofessional student groups with the ability to dene telehealth and its role in patient care, develop clinical skills in the delivery of patient care through telehealth, identify key considerations in access and equity in the use of telehealth, and appreciate the importance of interprofessional collaboration and teamwork in providing virtual care

The CO-TEACH curriculum consists of ve 2-hour sessions and is delivered over an eight-week period via Zoom The curriculum includes a developmental evaluation framework for the design and implementation of the curriculum, a literature review to identify the evolving evidence around telehealth use, delivery, and education, and a team-based, telehealth, patient-simulation experience to assess learner achievement of course objectives around interprofessional teamwork, communication, and clinical care via telehealth.

The CO-TEACH curriculum provides a unique educational opportunity to address key skills for enhancing the patient experience of healthcare and combating population health inequities The curriculum offers easy adaptation by student-led initiatives and is relevant for all health professions
