Location and Hours

PLC uniforms are available for purchase from our Uniform Shop, which is located at the PLC Lighthouse.

Purchases can be charged to your School account. Visa, MasterCard and EFTPOS are also accepted.

Personal Presentation

The PLC uniform, with its Black Watch tartan, proudly links the College to its Scottish heritage and is an emblem of the College’s identity.

The uniform is a sign of identity with the College and should be worn with pride. Each student is expected to be properly attired in full uniform, either school or sport uniform, whilst at school, travelling to and from school, and when representing the College at external functions and events.

Students are expected to take pride in their personal appearance, to be neatly attired and well groomed.

Uniform Policy

» Blazers must be worn as the outer garment in public, if warmth is required.

» Scarves and gloves are not compulsory, however, if worn, the scarf must be the Black Watch tartan.

» On all public occasions, including walking in streets and shops and on public transport (including ‘special’ buses), students in Year 3 and above are to wear the panama in summer.

» The skirt is to be knee length.

» Shoes are to be black leather and polished.

» Coloured nail polish, fake nails, and makeup are not permitted.

» Students who do not follow the School Uniform Policy risk being given an afterschool detention.

Hair

» Hair that is touching the collar or longer must be neatly tied back.

» Hair that is obviously streaked, tinted or dyed, or is a colour not natural to the student, is not acceptable.

» Hair accessories are to be a white or multi-ribbon or white scrunchies (summer) and navy, tartan or multi ribbon or navy scrunchies (winter).

» Clips or combs must be tortoise shell or matching the hair colour.

» Extreme and untidy hairstyles are not permitted.

Jewellery

» Wrist watches are permitted.

» Medic Alert bracelets or necklaces are permitted.

» Students may wear one small sleeper or small plain (not stones), round gold, silver or pearl stud in the bottom of the lobe of each ear.

» Sleepers – should be no larger than 12mm in diameter. Studs – 5mm diameter.

Tights

» In Terms 2 and 3, Senior School students wearing skirts are expected to wear black tights.

» If a students’ tights are laddered or have holes in them, the student will be asked to purchase a new pair from View Street, McNeil Street or Boarding Reception.

» The Uniform Shop also keeps a supply of tights which can be purchased throughout the day.

Labels

» All clothes are to be clearly labelled with the student’s name and House on them.

» All bags are to have student names and a tag on them to make them easily identifiable.

Formal Occasions

Blazers and ties are required for formal occasions, such as assemblies and excursions, unless informed otherwise.

The sport uniform is the daily uniform for boys.

Please note that the sport uniform can be worn in place of the formal uniform for PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, and Pre-Primary students.

PLC hoodies can be worn to and from school in Winter, but not during school hours.

Year 12 girls may wear their Leavers’ hoodies from Mid-Term Break in Term 3 until the end of the school year. They can wear it before/after and during the school day. While travelling to and from school, girls must wear the PLC blazer as their outer garment.
