JESSIE WENT TO NIAGARA FALLS – THE FIRST TIME SHE’D LEFT MICHIGAN.
You Made it Possible! This trip was possible because Jessie moved into The Village of Our Saviour’s Manor. AND because you ensure that resident activities are possible at PVM Villages! “Now I have the travel bug! I’m visiting my son in Florida next year—he’s been down there for nine years. Now I’ll get to see him.” Jessie Clark was on oxygen full-time when she moved in, but as she settled into her new home, she didn’t need it as much. “I didn’t have to cut grass or shovel snow. I didn’t have to worry and my stress level went down,” said Jessie. Because she had less to worry about, for the first time in her life, she was free to finally take a trip—all the way to Niagara Falls with her fellow residents! Jessie’s respite is well-deserved. For almost two years, she was the sole caregiver to her husband. Last year, he went into nursing care after his dementia became too much for Jessie to care for alone. Sadly, Mr. Clark passed away last December. “I am so thankful for the support of the other residents and the staff,” said Jessie. “I’m so happy I have this place. I have no worries here.”
She had less to worry about, so for the first time in her life, Jessie was free to take a trip—all the way to Niagara Falls!

IS MAKING MICHIGAN THE BEST PLACE TO AGE “…if my grandmother, aunt, or mother were alive, I’d want someone to help them without hesitation; with compassion, empathy, a fair amount of patience and love.” When I offered to help with a newsletter at my daughter’s school I never thought it would begin a life of service! Then, years after leaving a corporate job, I slowly realized I’d filled my calendar with volunteering seven days a week. I volunteer, and I give to PVM because one day I could be one of the same seniors I’m helping. I could need assistance and not have a clue where to go or the energy to get there. I always think if my grandmother, aunt, or mother were alive, I’d want someone to help them without hesitation; with compassion, empathy, a fair amount of patience and love. Volunteering keeps me active beyond any dream I ever had. I think of it like I think of maintenance for my car. If you don’t do regular upkeep, one day it will stop working, right? Volunteering is regular maintenance for my body, mind and spirit!

As time passes, I am blessed to become an older adult. We should all recognize and be grateful that PVM is working for US and that WE have a better quality of life because PVM fights for our cause. For me, it’s a continuous cycle of paying it forward and PVM will always be worthy of my support as a donor and a volunteer!

You sent 20+ PVM residents who couldn’t have gone to the PVM Gala! Because of you, residents attended a great party and had a care-free evening they couldn’t afford otherwise. Residents were not only guests; they were the stars of the show! Special treats included a parade of residents, the invocation by resident Anita Hartsfield, and a video featuring eight residents from The Village of Redford!
“I’ve never been to a party like this. I had a great time!” said Erselean Buckanes, resident at The Village of Redford.
PVM resident Caroline Parker from The Village of Spring Meadows in Jackson said, “I THOROUGHLY enjoyed myself and am so glad I was able to come!”
