PVM’s partnership with Henry Ford Health System to provide quality services for seniors has gained momentum with PACE Southeast Michigan. It recently expanded to a third site that is located at 30713 Schoenherr Road in Warren. PACE stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, a unique health plan funded by Medicare and Medicaid that provides integrated care and services to eligible seniors. PACE Southeast Michigan is one of eight PACE programs in Michigan and 120 PACE programs in the U.S.
PACE Southeast Michigan is ideal for seniors aged 55 and older who are living with chronic illness and who want to remain independent in their own homes. PACE Southeast Michigan’s day health centers bring together all of the care needed to accomplish this goal. The centers provide a community setting where seniors enjoy delicious meals, have social interactions, feel purposeful, enjoy recreational activities and receive the medical care they need – all in one location. Making New Friends in the New Year: PVM and Delta Manor
As the favorite New Year’s song states: “Make new friends, but keep the old…” PVM began the New Year doing just that.
On January 1, 2016, PVM became the new property management company for Delta Manor, a 100-apartment senior community in Detroit. Through this agreement, PVM is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of Delta Manor with reporting accountability to the Delta Manor Board of Directors. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD) has approved this new relationship. Roshunda Price, Delta Manor’s board president, stated: “Both PVM and Delta Manor are strongly committed to providing safe, secure and comfortable living experiences for our residents. Moreover, PVM’s 70 years of successful mission-driven property management programs and activities, combined with its knowledge of federal rules and regulations that govern properties like ours, make PVM an excellent selection for us and for the 100-plus residents who call Delta Manor home.” Michael Polsinelli, Detroit Field Director for HUD stated: “HUD is looking forward to working with Presbyterian Villages of Michigan and the owner of Delta Manor as this new partnership brings new vitality and increases the quality of life for all residents of the development.” Delta Manor is a seven-story high rise located on 2.5 acres at 2150 E. Vernor, south of Gratiot Avenue near Detroit’s Eastern Market. It is owned by Delta Manor, Inc., a Michigan non-profit housing corporation. The mission of Delta Continued on page 3

Hartford Village Construction Progresses through Winter December is always a busy month with holiday festivities, shopping and preparing to ring in another year. Hartford Village is no exception, as another successful resident event was held on December 10th at the Northwest Activity Center. This event focused on celebrating the holidays and the joy that 2016 will be the year that new residents move into their homes at Hartford Village. Frank Taylorwith Hartford Memorial Baptist Church gave the group a construction update, and answered several questions. The residents also received a little extra holiday cheer as PVM’s own leasing specialist, Gena Edwards, and her groom-to be surprised the residents with a preview wedding ceremony. The festivities concluded with music provided by Charles Greene. As spring approaches, Hartford Village will be gearing up for the arrival of residents. This March, the team has planned an afternoon for the residents to interview various potential vendors who can assist with making a smooth transition from their current home to Hartford Village. Services will be available to help residents downsize, pack, move, decorate, etc. As move-in dates approach, the Hartford Village team will be working closely with the residents to make sure they have all the services and logistics arranged for their move. Construction is in full swing at Hartford Village. Rough framing is complete on several of the buildings, and the construction team is humming while making great progress on the campus. The deadline of completion by fall 2016 is still on track. Mother Nature has been good to the Hartford Village construction crew this winter, making it easier to stay on schedule. With Hartford Village being the first of its kind in the City of Detroit, the residents of Hartford Village are very close to realizing the dream that started over two years ago. The community is located at 17500 Meyers Road in Detroit, an area that is working on revitalization. The campus will include 39 independent living cottages with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The campus also includes an apartment building that will house 45 one- and two-bedroom apartments. This beautifully landscaped, gated community will offer a maintenance-free lifestyle and provide such amenities as raised gardens, wellness programs, fully equipped fitness room, and many more services. It is located right in the heart Detroit with plentiful community resources. 2016 is going to be a very exciting year for Hartford Village! LEFT: Rough framing is moving along on the cottage homes.

Kicks Off April 1st!
Going on its thirteenth year, this annual fundraising campaign has raised nearly $1.1 Million, in support of older adults throughout Michigan! Through the entire month of April, PVM Villages, residents and their friends and family members have an opportunity to raise funds for projects that will enhance and enrich the lives of seniors. Donors have funded numerous projects and services including transportation, exercise equipment, security camera upgrades, walking paths, gazebos, outdoor furniture, computers and so much more! Every gift received by April 30th is eligible for a match! Matching funds will be awarded at the end of the campaign toward every project, based on the percentage each Village raises toward the Friends & Family total amount raised. The more a Village raises for their project, the more matching dollars that Village receives! For example, if a Village raises 10% of the cumulative Friends & Family amount raised, that Village receives 10% of the matching funds available.

Residents at The Village of Holly Woodlands started raising money toward a new bus through the 2013 Friends & Family Campaign. With a lot of hard work, and a little help from matching awards and a grant from the PVM Foundation, they raised enough money to buy a brand new bus with a wheelchair lift in 2015. When one resident in an electric wheelchair rode the new bus, she was almost in tears with joy.

Revamped Website Positions PVM for Future with up-to-date Digital Presence and Dynamic Sales Tool After more than a year of research, planning, and content creation, the PVM Sales and Marketing Department in collaboration with the Public Affairs Department, was proud to launch the brand new PVM.org in the final weeks of December 2015. Redesigned, revamped, and refocused, the new website is intended to provide an easily navigable browsing experience for seniors and their families who are exploring PVM as a possible senior housing provider, or community members who may be interested in learning more about PVM as an organization. Based on industry trends and time-tested best practices, the website’s new design acts as an all-encompassing resource, displaying information vital to the organization, such as PVM’s mission, vision, and values, as well as information specific to each village and collaborative home and community based service. With a focus on transparency and integrity, interested parties can now see updated rosters of boards throughout PVM, leadership bios with updated headshots, public financial statements, annual reports, various publications, and advocacy agen-
das all right on the site. On the sales side, improved functionality, such as easily searchable/sortable villages by location, level of care, age requirement, and living options allows future residents to more easily locate the right living situation based on their needs. Not only was the entire look of the PVM website changed to allow for easier navigation, virtually all of the content, from the individual villages to the overall organizational content, was updated to reflect the latest information and developments. Each of the 28 village pages are now equipped with updated indoor and outdoor photographs; a sales overview write-up; updated testimonial videos with representatives from many villages; a Google Map link and graphic; quotes from residents; a link to the village-specific or PVM Facebook page; updated frequently asked questions; as well as a variety of other useful content such as pricing (where applicable) and floor plan options. Two village features that are sure to set PVM’s website apart from many competitors are the village virtual tours and the interactive floor plans. The virtual tours are online self-navigable digital walking tours that allow anyone to take a look inside each village and explore the space as if they were there in-person. These prove especially meaningful for out-of-state adult children and prospective residents who want to take a look inside a village and aren’t able to otherwise attend an in-person tour. The interactive floor plans are another piece that helps place PVM on the cutting edge of the senior housing industry. This powerful tool allows interested applicants and their families the ability to move around virtual furniture and decorate a floor plan similar to what they can expect when they move into a village. Users can then print the floor plan for future use, share it with family and friends, or post on their social media accounts – a great way to spur community engagement.

Manor is to create an appealing and safe environment that enhances the quality of life for residents. It was one of the first development projects of its kind in the United States to be initiated by a Greek-letter organization. The project was conceived of and brought to life by the Property Task Force of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Sorority, Inc. It opened in late 1988 at a cost of approximately $5 million dollars. Already in the New Year, there has been a great bit of activity and engagement among the PVM staff, residents and board of Delta Manor. Relationships and shared goals are developing quickly with a shared sense of joy and optimism over this new venture. Look for more information on Delta Manor in upcoming PVM publications. The goal of this new website is not only to provide a dynamic sales tool, but also to best position PVM for success as we move forward into the growing digital age. The new website, and all of its updated content, improves not only the browsing experience for those who access the website directly, but also the ability for PVM to be seen and discovered via general search engine inquiries on the web. This is furthered by the entire website being presented on what is known as a responsive template, meaning the website will reformat for best appearance based on the device being utilized by the consumer. Inspire Possibilities Breakfast Returns in 2016 After a hiatus in 2015, the sixth Inspire Possibilities Breakfast will return to the Centerpoint Marriott in Pontiac on Friday, May 13th. Since 2011, this event has grossed over $445,000 to benefit Michigan seniors. The complimentary 1-hour breakfast is an opportunity to hear inspiring testimonies directly from residents of PVM Villages and to support the PVM mission. PVM Partners with National Church Residences to Enhance Service Coordination at Affordable Housing Sites In an effort to enhance the lives of seniors throughout the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) network, we are proud to announce our new relationship with National Church Residences who will be overseeing the service coordinators at 21 PVM Villages. With its proven track record as the country’s largest provider of service coordination, National Church Residences will provide service coordinators at affordable housing sites across Michigan. Through this strong collaborative relationship, PVM will become the 66th Quality Assurance Program for enhanced service coordination managed by National Church Residences.

Thus, we are now able to give preference to applicants who are considered to be veterans of the United States Military or surviving spouses of veterans. We must and will remain committed to a preference for those 62 years or older or a person with disabilities.
