DCSMAT
DCSMAT has always been known for quality teaching and innovative pedagogy which is akin to I I Ms and Harvard Business School. All subjects are taught through case study methods, learn through research mode , which help students to understand the finer nuances and enable them to adapt themselves well to the industry needs. DCSMAT is one of the top business schools in Kerala which motivates students to think laterally. DCSMAT graduates have made us proud in the past and carved a niche for themselves wherever they have gone.
It is the new and innovative processes that DCSMAT implements each year which gives the extra sharp ‘cutting edge’ to our students. A few of these processes are mentioned below. • DCSMAT’s collaboration with IBM gives its students an edge over students of other business schools. DCSMAT has the privilege of becoming the first B-School in the country to be nominated as a Centre of Excellence by IBM. • University Academic Alliance programme in the form of collaboration with SAP India Ltd ,is another similar initiative undertaken by DCSMAT • Weekly internship programme for our students to provide them with continuous interaction and exposure to industry practices. • Additional concrete industrial exposure through their summer projects/ internships and through various other forums, where they have an opportunity to interact with the corporate world. • Constant up gradation of syllabi and course outlines in sync with the ever changing industry requirements and in consultation with industry experts, make the DCSMAT students ‘industry ready’. DC Group DC Books was started in the year 1974 by D C Kizhakemuri, one of the doyens of Indian publishing industry, and a recipient of coveted award of Padmabhushan in the year 1999. Over the last 37 years DC Books have published over 10,000 titles belonging to various categories like fiction, children’s literature, poetry, reference, biography, self help, yoga, management, etc. Now they publish almost 1000 titles a year including reprints. They are the first ISO certified publishers in India with a chain of 36 bookshops in Kerala. DC Books gave the publishing industry in India a new direction by introducing innovative marketing schemes such as book clubs, book fairs, pre-publication offers etc. They represent the literature of Indian authors in major languages like Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi and English. They also represent foreign authors, publishers and agencies to Indian market.

Course Management System/ Learning Management System ensures paperless Environment The growth of information technology is rightly been observed and applied by DCSMAT. Since 2004, the entire course is carried out through the course management system 'Moodle', which is now an inevitable part of the learning system and the students. A well structured course plan along with the activities and resources for the entire semester is prepared by the instructor and is made available in the respective pages which are easily accessible to the students. The activities supported by the Moodle include online submission of assignments, online quizzes, course wikis, forums, chats etc. The facilities vary with the creativity and imagination of the faculty in charge. Thee- learning system adopted in DCSMAT through Moodle is creating an opportunity for the students to familiarize with the paper free processes which is being employed in most of the industries today.

Project Hornbill, the DCSMAT digital library The Project Hornbill is the DCSMAT digital library and streaming services initiative. It helps in acquiring the instituteâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s creative knowledge resources of all types in any format. It uses state of art technologies in hardware, software and networking for deploying the digital items for research, teaching and learning and other academic requirements of the business school. It contains a good number of resources like e-books on business and management and related areas, archives of course plans and course materials, case studies from 11 Ms, Harvard and ECCH, annual reports, company related data, content database of electronic journals, public domain resources from Internet, documents archives of SDI Services (Selective Dissemination of Information), audio programmes of Radio DC, a special collection of more than 1000 advertisements and enormous collection of video content stored for on-demand delivery. Video and Audio contents can be availed through the campus intranet that are delivered by using streaming technologies.

Other Facilities at DCSMAT Streaming Media\ Services at DCSMAT DCSMAT is one of the very few educational institutions in India that has created a turning point in using Streaming Media Service. DCSMAT has a dedicated higher end Streaming Server for delivering video streams of classes over its Intranet and the Internet. The 24x7 availability of the videos will help the DCSMAT community to learn important class room sessions and other programmes at their own schedules. It uses Apple's X Serve and Green Stone Digital Library for hosting video and audio data runs in terabytes. DCSMAT captures videos of all guest sessions, guest faculty sessions, important class modules and topics, other curricular and extracurricular activities of students, presentations by student groups, research initiatives by the School, MDPs, FDPs and all the programmes of importance. The famous QuickTime architecture is being used for the streaming services of the videos. The Streaming Service is also doing Podcasting Services for Radio DC, the Internet Radio branch of the Community Radio Service at Media School, Trivandrum. It is through this service DCSMAT events are webcasted through the World Wide Web. It is well supported by the multicast enabled DC School intranet backbone with a campus Wi-Fi network and extended lease line access to our City Campus at Trivandrum.
Interactive Video Conferencing Facilities DCSMAT possesses a state of the art video conferencing facility which enables it to give varied exposure to our students by giving them an opportunity to interact with high profile international and national academicians/ industry experts, without moving out of the campus. The Video Conferencing project makes use of an advanced video conferencing technology. The video-conferencing classes are an important part of learning and teaching at DCSMAT. This facility can also be used for conducting campus selection interviews by prospective companies.
IBM Center of Excellence IBM has announced a new and extended collaboration with DC School of Management and Technology. We are the first Management institute in India to be accorded the status of ‘Centre of Excellence’. The IBM Centre of Excellence at DC School of Management and Technology, Vagamon, Kerala was inaugurated on 20th April, 2011 by Mr. Anil Menon - Vice President, Industry Solutions, Channels and System Integrator Sales, Growth Markets. DCSMAT has provided the entire infrastructure for installing the high-end software’s. Academic Initiative team has conducted a Training and Certification camp on DB2/RAD/TD5/RFT/ Lotus/WID. The students can gain first-hand experience of the software products installed on the campus. Other activities In between the hectic routine of academics and club activities, the students did find time to get involved with charity activities and other humane causes proving that they were not exclusive to the environment and people around them. The batch was instrumental in sponsoring the education of a poor school girl in Pullikkanam. They organized a blood donation camp in the campus in partnership with IMA, Thodupuzha. The students visited Mariasadanam, a home for the mentally-challenged, spending a day over there, helping the staff and giving hope to the inmates in many little ways they can think of. As a group, the students underscore the fact that helping is not simply a matter of dispersing money but of making a deep, long-term commitment and casting a hard eye on results.
