Presentation High School 2020-21 Re-Entry Plan

RE-ENTRY PLANNING The Process

Presentation has established a committee of faculty and administrative staff that is developing a comprehensive re-entry strategy that prioritizes the health and wellness of our entire community. This strategy maintains the continuity of learning while continuing to deliver a meaningful Presentation experience. We are committed to working in partnership with our families, and recognize the need for a slow and intentional re-entry, allowing us to address and respond to the trauma many of our community has experienced--or will continue to experience as a result of the pandemic and quarantine.

Our Assumptions We are continually monitoring all facets of this dynamic situation and recognize that this requires adaptive planning that will evolve as the science and circumstances do. Despite the uncertainty, we are developing plans based on the following assumptions informed by the most current guidance from public health officials:

1

School campuses will reopen in the 2020-2021 academic year with the probability that San Jose and the Bay Area will experience continued outbreaks of COVID-19 that may force us to revert to earlier phases of the shelter in place order. We must prepare for the potential of localized, rolling closures for approximately 14–28 days triggered by additional waves of infections.

2

Our physical campus and social habits will require modifications based on guidance from national, state, and local health officials, which include physical distancing, wellness checks, masks, frequent disinfecting of classrooms, as well as intermittent transitions to remote learning.

3

We will NOT be returning to a pre-COVID “normal for some time and social/physical distancing is here for the foreseeable future.

ONE PRESENTATION EXPERIENCE, THREE RE-ENTRY OPTIONS We are currently preparing campus to support students with a hybrid experience in the fall, however, we recognize that some families may not be ready for their daughter to return at that time. As such the committee has developed three different re-entry options that will be flexible and adaptable based on local, state, and federal guidelines as well as individual needs. These options include: 100% On-Campus, 100% Remote, or Hybrid (partially on-campus and remote).

What Isn’t Changing? In this very uncertain time we are living in, we understand the need for as many facts as possible. Please know that in addition to our mission, values, and graduation outcomes, there are a few key logistics that will remain unchanged, including: Key Calendar Dates First/last day of school Final exams Vacations View the 2020-21 dates here. Gold/Blue schedule Periods 1-7

OPTION 1

100% On-Campus Presentation Experience Presentation will follow specific health precautions in accordance with our local, state, and federal requirements. Specific decisions and plans regarding on campus modifications will be finalized over the next few weeks and months and communicated when final. Some precautions and modifications will likely include:

Additional health screening before and upon arrival to campus

The use of masks by everyone on campus

Enhanced sanitizing and cleaning processes

Modified capacity limits to allow for social distancing

Modified programming and events to allow for social distancing and compliance with crowd size limitations

Continued use of virtual experiences to reduce the number of people on campus and to allow for social distancing

Social distancing measures and enforcement

Modified visitor policies

OPTION 2

100% Remote Presentation Experience Our remote learning model does not change our mission or graduation outcomes. In this model we will be 100% remote and will continue to teach your daughters how to be critical thinkers and leaders who are prepared to serve others. This option also provides flexibility for our community to continue to learn while sheltering in place, and will continue to be an option for students who are not comfortable being on campus when we return. This model will:

1

Maintain the rigor required to push student learning and prepare students academically for college and beyond.

2

Allow for personal circumstances.

3

Continue to offer UC-approved courses and curriculum.

4

Employ researched best-practices.

5

Provide differentiated instruction and assessments based on students’ varying needs.

Presentation is an inclusive community that empowers young women to become fearless and faithful leaders determined to serve the world.

OPTION 3

Hybrid Presentation Experience (partially on-campus and remote) While details continue to be finalized, our hybrid experience will include a mix of remote and on-campus learning designed to maximize our Presentation Experience while maintaining the health and safety of our community.
