Dear Reader
There's something special about late summer here in Denmark – we especially adore the month of August. Now i s t h e t i m e f o r p i c k i n g w i l d b l a c k b e r r i e s f ro m the thickets in the woods and enjoying a swim in river and lakes that have been warming up over the past fe w months. The weather in August is often ver y agreeable and there's that ver y special scent in the air when you take a walk – sweet and almost tangible, letting us know that it's almost time for the har vest. It's a lovely time that many of us associate with traditions and Denmark at its best. One day as we were going for a walk along the dir t roads between the fields, we suddenly spotted two sets of ears peeking out above the wheat. We had a headwind so the two animals didn't notice us. As we moved closer we saw that it was two fallow deer. The wheat was so tall that only the ears were peeking out. When they finally picked up our scent, they ran along through the fields. It's so impor tant that we remember t o e n j oy m o m e n t s l i k e t h e s e ; t o n o t a l w a y s b e i n a r ush in our day-to-day lives with ever yday chores and planning all of the new things on our to-do list but rather to stop and tr uly take time to enjoy the little t h i n g s – e x p e r i e n c e s i n n a t u re , w i t h e a c h o t h e r a n d when doing ever yday tasks. It might also be the joy in making a ne w lampshade for your living room or the pride in having laid down a ne w floor in the basement yourself, especially when you thought you couldn't do it. We need to keep a careful eye out for them but there are so many things in which to take joy! We hope that we can bring you joy through a cozy and relaxing time with our magazine and offer plenty of inspiration for the little things.

French Love
This apartment is truly a rare find. I'll admit that as I was standing with our photographer Dorte on the street, what was going through my head was: Does someone really live here with the French-Nordic country style? The exterior of the apartment building just looked so different from what we hoped to find inside. It's a very typical Danish apartment complex from the 1960s with a multitude of identical units as far as the eye can see – a huge contrast to the way that Anette and Erik have furnished their Frederiksberg apartment in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Idea: Apartments don't always have a lot of storage space. Anette's son
gave her a stack of old military boxes. The bottom box has been fitted with wheels to make the entire stack easy to move, and the boxes can hold plenty of things – a wonderful and alternative storage solution.

Anette swears by everything French. She loves old things and especially ones with personality and preferably a bit of visible wear. Anette loves the style and you have to admit that she has a talent for using all of the wonderful, old treasures in her decorating. Some were purchased on international trips. Berlin in particular is a favorite destination. The stack of beautiful, vintage, flax dish towels were found at a flea market in Berlin. Other items were bought here in Denmark at flea markets or lifestyle stores. It wasn't actually until Anette really started looking for old things that she found her style. Everything is put to use in this couple's home. These dish towels are of course used in the kitchen but otherwise they're displayed as a decoration here in the living room rather than being hidden away in a drawer. Anette also uses them when setting the table for just a "dinner for two".
