Walter Wallor CAFFYN (1845 - 1898) British
“Homewards”, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1881 lower right, 13 1/2” h x 11 1/2 w. Walter Wallor Caffyn was born in England. He specialized in river scenes and harvesting landscapes. Caffyn exhibited at the Royal Academy for over twenty years from 1876 until the year before his death. He also exhibited at the Suffolk Street Galleries, the Royal Society of British Artists, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.

Myles Birket FOSTER, R.W.S. (1825 - 1899)
British
Tides Out, oil on canvas, monogrammed lower right, 9 1/2” h x 17 1/2” w. Myles Foster was born in England. Noticing his son’s talent, his father secured an apprenticeship as an illustrator for “Punch” and the “Illustrated London News”. Later on, Foster became an Associate of the Watercolour Society (later Royal Watercolour Society) in 1860. He exhibited some four-hundred of his paintings at the Royal Academy over more than two decades.

JOHN MASON FOR GORHAM
A reticulated silver bowl with stamped marks for renown New York silver retailer, John Mason, and silver marks for Gorham, with blank cartouches, measuring 3 1/4” h x 7 1/2” w x 5 3/4” d, weight 246 grams. John Mason was an ex-employee of Tiffany’s in the late 19th century. He ventured out on his own and invested heavily, in an attempt to upend his old employer, even hiring seasoned Tiffany & Co. employees. The whole venture ended within two years, in 1892.

(Pridham’s) as genuine or authentic and if, within twenty one (21) days of the sale of the lot, the buyer gives written notice to Pridham’s that the lot is not genuine or authentic, provides, at the BUYER’S expense, a written opinion by TWO qualified persons/institutions acceptable to Pridham’s that the lot is not genuine or authentic, returns, at the BUYER’S expense, the lot to Pridham’s in the same condition as at the time of sale, and provides a written request for rescission of the sale of the lot, then the sale of the lot shall be rescinded and the purchase price paid by the buyer for the lot shall be returned to him.
