PAINTED POTS
Transform plain terracotta pots into wonderful window sill showpieces
SHOPPING LIST
✔ Terracotta pots ✔ Spray paints in a range of colours ✔ Posca paint marker pens
1Begin by spraying your plant pots with a base colour of spray paint. We’ve chosen pink, white and yellow to cover the outside and inside rims of the pots, but you could create tonal backgrounds by mixing two shades together.
Leave to completely dry.
2Once dry, you can begin decorating the pots with the paint markers. For a simple graphic pattern go for spots or stripes, working around the pot. If you’re not very confident working straight onto the pot, practice your ideas and placement on scrap paper first.
3You can add abstract shapes to your pot design, too. To paint the leaf motif, draw a curved line to create a stem then draw elongated teardrops from the stem. Fill the leaves with block colour or draw a vein pattern. Leave the pots to dry before filling with plants.

2 HERB LABELS
Bring some order to a herb garden or kitchen window planter with these pretty pointers
SHOPPING LIST
✔ Wooden planter sticks ✔ Tombow dual brush pen ✔ Posca paint marker pens ✔ Washi tape
1Lay your wooden sticks side by side on an even surface. Attach a length of washi tape across the planter sticks, about 2-3cm from the non-pointed edge. Paint the taped-off section with marker pens and leave to fully dry. Remove the washi tape from each stick.
2Practice your calligraphy on a scrap piece of paper using the thicker end of the brush pen. To create thick strokes, apply more pressure on the pen, and use less pressure for thinner strokes. Write each letter with a mix of thick and thin strokes. Once happy with your lettering, write the herb names on the wooden sticks.
3Use the thin end of the pen to add foliage motifs after your lettering. Draw a curved line upwards and add teardrop shapes from the stem to create a botanical motif with your pen.

3 3 KNEELING PAD
Make weeding woes a thing of the past with this stylish project to keep knees happy!
SHOPPING LIST
✔ 40 x 30cm foam pad ✔ Wipe-clean fabric, such as oilcloth (enough to cover your foam pad) ✔ 10 x 6cm thick fabric (for the handle) ✔ Sewing machine or needle and thread ✔ Scissors
1Begin by cutting your fabric to fit the size of your foam pad. Fold the fabric in half and align the foam pad against the fold. Measure 5cm of excess fabric around each of the three remaining sides and cut out.
2Turn the fabric onto the wrong side and stitch together the two lengths either side of the folded edge to create a pillow shape. If you are using a thick material it may be easier to use a sewing machine.
3Turn the cushion cover right side out and insert the foam pad. Loop the handle and pin to the inside of the cushion cover. Fold the top edges of the cover inwards to create a flat edge and sew the cover shut, securing the loop to the cover. Remove the pins, to finish.
