Welcome everyone to our 28th Annual Bull & Select Female Sale!!
Everyone here at Hamilton Farms invites you to join us at the ranch for our 28th annual sale on March 29, 2023. Anyone who would like to come and view sale cattle ahead of time is more than welcome, and even encouraged to do so, allowing you uninterrupted inspection of the sale offering, as well as our cowherd.
Our commitment to acquiring and supplying genetics that are no-nonsense, and cowboy friendly, is on-going. We put heavy emphasis on the basic economic traits such as feet and udders and extend our search for convenience traits like calving ease, and vigor, and endeavour to tie all these together with added performance with desirable carcasses. The buzz word in the Angus world these days has come full circle from years gone by... Maternal, maternal, maternal. This is very enlightening for us as this has been the backbone of our focus from our earliest beginnings! This is not new to us, as our cow herd has been supplying us with breed leading genetics for years, without help. No creep feed, no pampering! Just grass and milk. Although we are very proud of the genetic balance we have created in our cow herd, we are never done trying to improve and we always appreciate feedback from our customers… good or bad, so that we can continually strive to be the best we can be.
There is a lot of optimism out there that maybe we have come to the end of our cycle of limited moisture, and low water levels. They say it takes a tough winter to bring an end to a drought, and when you travel across the country, it looks promising, that there will be significant spring moisture and runoff, and hopefully a new start to a strong and vibrant beef industry. Cattlemen have endured a lot of hardships over the past few years with dry pastures and limited feed stocks. For all of you who have endured, and persevered, I believe your time has come!!
Our bulls are available in larger sire groups giving you the opportunity to add consistency to your programs. The bulls are raised on a high roughage diet designed for moderate weight gain and long-term health. A great indicator of how responsibly the cattle have been managed is to view their hair coat! Excess energy in a diet will deter hair growth and sheen. The bulls in this offering have extra hair coat and shine and you can be assured that their longevity is preserved.

We could have never made this long journey without the help of many, and we would be remiss to not recognize these people. First, Thank You, to all our supporters of our program over the years. Whether you bought cattle, or bid on cattle, or came to observe and see our program...Thanks a lot! We very much appreciate you! Dave Moon, Operations Manager/Foreman. Dave & Laura and family have been with us for the past seven and a half years and we are very fortunate to have them with us. Our son Joel, and his wife Taylor are steadily taking Hamilton Farms to the next level. Along with all the normal day to day jobs, they are very involved with all our new initiatives in beef marketing. Wyatt & Stacey Hamilton are integral in our beef marketing and are very invested in the success of Hamilton Farms and Hamilton Farms Premium Angus Beef. Wacey and Carlye Hamilton have been creating awareness of Hamilton Farms Premium Angus Beef in the Medicine Hat area. Special thanks to Kim Matthews for her expertise designing our ads and compiling our sale catalog for the past 19 years! Thanks to Cole Giles for masterfully taking care of show and sale cattle preparations. Jordan Buba for her great cattle photography, video expertise, and ability to put up with me! Bruce Luyendyk for his care and attention feeding the herd. Thanks again everyone for all you do!

Hamilton Farms have their entire cow herd on an integrated and comprehensive health and production management program. The program is based on the detailed collection of data on each individual animal at all key health and production points. This information is kept in a secure web-enabled database called Herdtrax® and it is continually monitored and audited by the managing veterinarians at Cow/Calf Health and Management Solutions (CCHMS).
The are 5 key components to the health and management program:
• Nutrition
• Animal Care and Welfare
• Disease Prevention
• Breeding Soundness
• Tracking Sale Bull Progeny Performance
Bull and Heifer Nutrition
All pre-weaned calves are raised on mamas milk and lush green grass. No supplemental creep is needed or provided. After weaning they are introduced to a fibrous total mixed ration comprised of chopped hay, silage, barley and an all-natural protein supplement. This diet is more than adequate for maintaining growth and performance and superior for rumen, hoof and reproductive health.
Animal Care and Welfare
All the animals (not just the cattle) at Hamilton Farms are managed and handled with the utmost of care. The cattle are comingled in small groups in large spacious paddocks that have 360 degree wind protection and a large amount of slope so that there is always a dry area to stand or lay down. Straw bedding is abundant and always fresh. Cattle are always handled with ease, but when necessary (in the event of an injury or lameness) an analgesic medication (Meloxican) is administered to help lessen the pain. Rob and Gail, as most producers, take great pride in insuring that all of their animals are managed, transported and cared for in the most humane manner possible.
Disease Prevention
Hamilton Farms follow a detailed vaccination program to help ensure that the cattle stay healthy and continue to thrive on the farm and carry this forward onto their new homes. Below is a list of the antigens vaccinated against and the associated product names used.
Calves are vaccinated within the first 10 days of life:
• IBR/PI3/BRSV (MLV) – Inforce 3® (intransal)
Calves are vaccinated in the spring prior to pasture turnout with the following:
• IBR/PI3/BRSV (MLV) – Inforce 3® (intransal)
• BVD (MLV) and Mannhaemia hemolytica – One Shot® BVD
• 7 way Clostridial and HIstophilus Somnus – Ultrabac® 7/Somnubac®
Calves are vaccinated at weaning with the following:
• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD (MLV) and Mannhaemia – Bovi-Shield® GOLD One Shot®
• 7 way Clostridial and HIstophilus Somnus – Ultrabac® 7/Somnubac®
• Parasite Control – Safe-Guard® initially, followed by Ivermectin in fall.
Cows, replacement heifers, bulls are annually vaccinated pre-breeding:
• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD – Bovi-Shield® GOLD FP®5 (Fetal Protection)
Bulls prior to the sale have been vaccinated and treated with the following:
• Fusobacterium Necrophorum – Fusoguard™ (footrot and liver abscess vaccine)
- Two doses given twice 60 days apart
• Lice Control – Permethrin
Bulls prior to the delivery will be boostered, and ready for turnout:
• IBR/PI3/BRSV/BVD – Bovi-Shield® GOLD FP®5
Breeding Soundness Examination
Every bull for sale will have been evaluated for the following criteria:
• Physical Examination
- Soundness of structure and movement
- Palpate testis, epididymis and internal sex glands
• Scrotal Circumference
-Minimum requirements must be met or no further evaluation is performed
• Examination of the penis
- Verify each bull can protrude and there are no warts or defects on the penis.
• Sperm motility and morphology
- Verify sufficient gross and individual motility and sperm morphology
The bull must pass all the above criteria to be considered a satisfactory breeder. If the bull passes all of the above criteria but falls just below the minimum threshold for sperm morphology (70%), he is considered to be a “decision deferred” breeder. Approximately 40% of all bulls will fail to produce an adequate semen sample at 11 mo. of age, 30% at 12 mo., 15% at 14 mo., 5% at 16 mo. This classification of bulls means that they are either prepubertal or stressed, but are showing sufficient signs of improvement and will likely be satisfactory soon when the days get longer and the grass is greener. Any Decision Deferred bulls offered for sale will be announced at sale time and none of these bulls will be delivered until they achieve satisfactory semen status.
Tracking Sale Bull Progeny Performance
Over the past several years many of the bulls sold have gone to producers that are also enrolled on the Herdtrax cattle management network. This allows for the seamless transfer of the bulls record and history to the buyers Herdtrax account and also subsequently allows for the continual flow and ongoing access to each bulls progeny performance. Below is a sample of the data that is acquired passively and is fully accessible by Hamilton Farms. This is an extremely valuable resource that assists the commercial producer with their ongoing decisions regarding what type of bulls work best in their program, but it also provides the Hamiltons with feedback on how their bulls are working for each commercial producer in their respective environments. Take special note of the calves’ birth weights, weaning and yearling weight indexes and the quality grades. Who says you cannot have it all! FYI; this data is all from one sire.
CCHMS is proud to work with Hamilton Farms and if required will provide documentation and verification of all animal health processes and treatments. If there are any questions with respect to the health and production management program at Hamilton Farms, please contact myself or Dr. Troy Drake directly.
Alcatraz sold through our 2019 sale to Bar-E-L Angus and Cowtrax Cattle Co. for a Canadian record selling price of $200,000 for 1/2 interest.
Alcatraz set a new standard for the definition of what a fault free bovine should look like. His structure is pretty much flawless, and he is so impressive in every other way. If docility is important to you, he has that. If added muscle expression is your desire, he provides that. He proved himself as a calving ease sire after the data on his first calf crop was recorded. When we collected semen on Alcatraz at 13 months of age, he never missed a beat and produced semen consistently during his time at Alta Genetics. Alcatraz daughters are consistently moderate in frame with some added muscle shape and spring of rib. We are very proud to have raised such a bull and his impact on our program will have long lasting positive effects.
We purchased Showman with Six Mile Angus in the 2019 Schiefelbein Sale where he was the high selling bull at $125,000 USD. We bought Showman to add a new pedigree to our program that would support our efforts to provide easy doing, easy calving, high performance cattle. Showman has exceeded all of our expectations after the first progeny have been weaned. Showman has unbelievable spread from birth to weaning, and he does all of this while still transmitting tremendous muscle shape, volume, and eye appeal. The Showman sons are super stout with a ton of angus character and the heifers exhibit an abundance of volume and capacity, while maintaining superior femininity. The first year of milking 2yr olds couldn’t have been more exciting, with the resulting calf crop topping the contemporary groups with numerous features. Showman progeny have been in high demand and this will be our largest sire group on offer once again this
HAMILTON FARMS
Profound was the high selling bull in Sitz’s 2020 spring bull sale, selling to Hollow Top Ranch, Montana, for $70,000. We acquired semen exclusivity on Profound to add to our herd bull line up and provide some fresh genetics which are rich in maternal values. Profound is a high performing, calving ease sire with balanced EPD’s, tremendous individual phenotype, and flawless structure. We now have numerous Profound daughters calved out and they are exceptional in their make up with beautiful udders. We anticipate the Profound daughters to be highly valued in our herd, based on what we have witnessed so far. Profound sired one of our high selling bulls in 2022, at $30,000. A Profound bred heifer sold through the 2022 Agribition All Star Sale to Knutson/Rideau for $37,000. THREE RIVERS 8062F
We used Three Rivers extensively as a new AI sire to again provide our longterm customers with fresh new genetics that will add some extra power and performance. Three Rivers’ dam is a powerful cow with added rib depth and overall mass. She is a model Angus cow with a beautiful udder and an impressive production record. Count on the Three Rivers progeny to pass on extra performance resulting from their unmatched length of body.

SOUTHERN CHARM
Southern Charm was selected as a choice sire to mate with our donor female HF Rosebud 246Z. Southern Charm is highly valued for his prolific breeding capabilities where structure, udder quality, easy fleshing ability, and high carcass traits are required. Count on his progeny to be highly versatile in providing all the basic economic traits we strive for.
KR Southbound was the second high selling bull in the 2021 Krebs Ranch bull sale which we selected for his outcross pedigree and powerful lineage. He is an exciting herd sire candidate from the prestigious KR Lass 6207 donor cow, who is no stranger when it comes to herd bull production. Southbound’s progeny possess added power and performance, and we expect his daughters to be highly maternal as well. His calves are noticeable with their extra body length and muscle shape and we look forward to seeing Southbound’s impact on our herd.

Storm Center originally sold through our 2017 bull sale, going to Sunrise Simmentals, Spyhill, Sk. and Darren Clifford, Provost, Ab. for $35,000.00. We continued using Storm Center through AI for a couple of years and as his daughters developed, we could see that they were the special type…moderate in size, structurally sound, with beautiful udders. We acquired a walking interest back on Storm Center and have appreciated his service back in our pastures. The Blackcap cow family has a long history here and the accomplishments are many. Maternal brothers to Storm Center have sold to Pahl Livestock, $37,500.00, Pleasant Valley Farm, $42,000.00, Hextall Live stock, $32,500.00, East & West Ranching, $19,000.00 plus many more too numerous to mention all.

Here would be one of the most popular Profound sons in the sale offering. Right from weaning he showed awesome potential, earning his way into our Agribition string. He provides +0.3 BW, Adj yearling weight of 1490lbs, and an average daily gain of 4.61/lbs day! Reverence packs a tremendous amount of power into a sleek and smooth package. He is well-balanced and good footed, which he comes by honestly when you see his mother, HF Echo 92Z. His mother is an 11yr old tanky cow with a perfect udder! A brother to Reverence, HF Hostage 170G, sold to Dwajo Angus for $12,500 and a recent text from Jesse expressed his excitement about his milking daughters and the udders they have dropped!
This might be one of the widest bulls in the offering. These Three Rivers calves pack a punch when it comes to performance, muscle shape, and length. Causeway has all of that. Take note of the power through his front end and crest, he just has that herd bull look. With a 1424lbs yearling weight and 800lb wean weight, he is sure to add pounds to your program. His dam, HF Tibbie 282A, is moderate framed with tremendous depth and volume. 282A is a full sister to HF Rebel 53Y who sold to Stevenson Angus, and TC Ranch for $95,000. To go along with that her last 4 progeny have averaged $18,250.

We love the look of this Showman son, he’s built right from the ground up! His thickness, spring of rib, and eye appealing profile make Stealth a bull surely to be marked in many catalogs. With a low birth of 78lbs and EPD of -0.9BW, Stealth can run with your heifers and you can sleep soundly when it comes to calving season. Another Three Rivers son that adds length, shape, and stoutness to the equation. His athleticism and ability to move is second to none, with a phenotype you love to see. The udders in the Annie cow family are tough to beat. His dam, HF Annie 193C, is moderate framed with extra length. She a cow that you’ll find in her work clothes getting the job done. Her first calf sold to Bull Pound Ranch for $10,000, another female sold to Anchorage Farms for $11,500, and her latest calf sold in 2022 for $15,000 to Ranch PJ.
Herdtrax Sire Alliance Program
As most of you are already aware; three years ago, Herdtrax initiated a Sire Alliance program for all the commercial producers enrolled on Herdtrax. The goal was to collect and share progeny data parameters from multiple commercial herds with varied breed types and management environments. HF Alcatraz 60F was the first bull offered and used in the Alliance program. Below is a summary of all the data collected to date which now includes fertility, pre-calving weight and calving interval data on Alcatraz daughters. It is important to reiterate; reproduction in beef cattle is 10X more economically important than growth traits and 20X more important than carcass traits. We need it all, but an extra calf, or more calves per cow herd, is the single largest factor in increasing lbs of beef.
DR. TROY DRAKE D.V.MProgeny count: 703 (74% out of 1st calf heifers)
Heifers kept for replacements: 238 (67% of all Alcatraz heifers born)
Average BW: 79 lbs
Average gestation length: 280 days
Average WW: 632 lbs
Average Carcass Grid Premium: $5.41/cwt
Average Carcass Weight: 837 lbs
Quality Grade: 85% AAA or better
Average BW on calves from Alcatraz daughters: 81 lbs (96% unassisted)
Average weight of 2yr old Alcatraz daughters (pre calving) – 1230 lbs
Natural service calving interval – 88% 1st 21 days
“You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.”
If you’re looking to add pounds to your calves, Devotion will do that. This stout stud weaned off mom at 818lbs, had an average daily gain of 4.17lbs/ day, and his adj yearling weight was an impressive 1484lbs! He ranks in the top 7% yearling weight, 15% weaning weight, 3% claw, and 10% angle. Devotion has tremendous muscle shape and spring of rib, a wide top and a big butt, but he moves freely and maintains nice breed character throughout his front end. His mother, HF Evening Tinge 77A, is a nice 10yr old cow with a level udder. His brother, HF Bullseye 278C, sold to Everblack Angus for $27,000. A sister, HF Evening Tinge 78J, was selected by Ranch Covey Hill as the pick of our heifer calves for $37,500.
“No pressure, no diamonds.”
Another impressive Profound son that is worth looking up. Contractor is a bull that is very complete in terms of muscle, volume, and correctness. He’s wide from his tail head to his ears and definitely catches your eye walking by. He weaned off mom just shy of 800lbs adjusted, and that’s no surprise when you look her up. HF Tibbie 171Z, is a powerful cow with a nice udder that raises power bulls year after year. Some of her sons have sold to Leedale Farming Co. for $10,000, Spence Cattle Co. for $7,000, Don & Malinda Good $12,000, East & West Ranching for $13,500, and a heifer to Lewis Farms for $13,000. 171Z is a daughter of the famous, HF Tibbie 100M, that was known for her natural performance and perfect structure. 100M was no slouch in the show ring either, brining home a couple Supreme Champion banners as well. We can’t say enough about the Tibbie cow family and what they have done for us over the years!
“All Hamilton Farms sale lots have been Angus GS tested and EPDs are genomically enhanced. Angus GS testing is an investment that we make to enhance the information available to our valued buyers. Over the last 10 years we have strived to provide more information and more data that will in turn provide our customers with verified parentage, and increased predictability of economically relevant traits. Buy with confidence knowing our investment is your reward!”
“Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.”
Firewater is another impressive Showman son! Describing bulls out of the Showman sire group can be very repetitive at times, but I guess that’s a good thing because of how consistent they are and how many features there are! Firewater packs all the Showman like qualities into a very phenotypically appealing package, and to tie a bow on it, he is heifer approved. He posted a 70lb birth weight with a -1.2 BW EPD, a +54 WW, and a +112 YW. A brother, sold to East & West Ranching for $11,000, and another to Klassen Bros for $6,000.
“Opportunities don't happen, you create them.”
Although the Three Rivers calves would be on the heavier end of the birth weight spectrum for us, they still calve easy. The small increase in birthweight is due to the extra length these calves possess. For the breeders that like that extra performance, you’ll love these claves. Bow River has a weaning weight just shy of 800lbs, adjusted yearling weight of 1533lbs, and an average daily gain at 4.6lbs/day. Just stand behind him and see for yourself. Bow River was in our string of bulls at Agribition and was highly touted by many for his shear power. If you’re looking to add pounds on the rail, or stock your replacement pen, this is your guy.

Here is a calving ease bull sired by the popular Square B Atlantis sire which has bred really well for us. Zeus has an ideal angus phenotype and when you get behind him you will be pleased with the true muscle shape and squareness that he possesses. He is moderate in size with ideal structure, true angus character, and that real proud demeanor that is commonly found in great breeding bulls. Zeus’s dam is a model angus cow with a level udder and notable past performance. A maternal sister to Zeus walks in our pastures and a maternal brother sold in last year’s sale to Bull Pound Ranch for $10,000.
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”
Just a note about our feeding program!
The entire bull offering has been developed on a high roughage Total Mixed Ration which has been formulated to maximize nutrition without adding excessive weight gain. Our target for gain on our bulls is approximately 3 pounds/day and we like to see the bulls with moderate flesh, athletic, and ready to go to work for their new owners. We know it is very difficult to properly appraise cattle with excessive body condition and we feel it is very beneficial to you, the buyer, to view the cattle when they are fresh and with visual muscle definition.
We understand, and pay attention to the fact, that we are in a performance driven business and we strive to source genetics which will help add pounds to your calves, and leave you with desirable replacement females.
“We need to accept that we won’t always make the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes – understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.”
Well, Tiger has done it again. HF Tiger 5T has been an absolute icon as a breeding bull for many years. He has been recognized as an all-purpose sire that excels in multi trait functionality. A proven herd bull is not really proven until his daughters start milking, and it was at this point in Tiger’s career when he became most popular. With now over 1700 progeny registered, he has achieved Elite & pathfinder sire status among the associations. This Tiger son is a definite favorite in the pens. He is wide from behind and down the spine, deep bodied, structurally correct, and athletic in his movement. He has such a cool look to him and presents himself with that herd bull look. The new owner of Tony will want to hold onto every female he sires, take it from us, there are never enough Tiger daughters in the herd!
Carcass Data...
All sale bulls have been scanned with ultrasound by Rod Wendorff. Carcass information will be available on our website as well as on supplement sheet on sale day.

Another flush brother with added body depth and base width. We talk about this often and I’ll mention again how beneficial it is to have a bull of this stature which can be used on heifers, yet provide superior performance and maternal traits. Refer to the footnotes on 199K for many of the accomplishments of this guy’s productive dam. There isn’t a lot of guess work in determining how these bulls will perform. This flush brother to Northern Prince is definitely a bull which could propel his new owner to the next level in terms of producing highly productive females and bulls with all the latest genetic features. Cinderella Man may have been a little short-changed on milk from his recipient momma but he has really made up for lost time since weaning. Check out his beautifully balanced set of EPD’s which show him to be great on calving ease, performance, and carcass numbers that will throw a little icing on the cake. We really like this bull and we think you will see him the same way. As mentioned in his brothers’ footnotes, here is a quick overview of the leading operations which have acquired herd bulls from Rosebud 246Z: Box Elder Farming, Alta Genetics, T & B Harty, Semex, East & West Ranching, Bull Pound Ranch, Bar-E-L Angus, Oliver Schunicht, Tafika Angus, Daines Angus Ranch, Compass Ranch, Remital Farms…Eleven son’s averaged over $21,000.

Okay, where do I start? Gravity is a late March born calf, one of the youngest bulls in the offering, but also one of the more impressive bulls in the offering. This moderate framed truck has a 82lb birth weight, weighed 876lb at weaning, and records a 1502lb adj yearling weight! The amount of power, muscle expression, and shape this young stud provides is unmatched for his age. He stands square and moves like a cat. He ranks in the top 1% for many traits including, WW +78, YW +139, Claw +0.25, Angle +0.27, and Mature Weight +127. This is an exciting calf that you should for sure make a note of!

Cole Giles and his sister Taylor operate 3G Cattle Ventures and they have been consigning these extra age bulls to our offering for a number of years now. The Giles family are close neighbors and have been raising Black Angus for a number of years. Many of their genetics are related to HF breeding, so this provides a really ‘good fit’, to offer these aged bulls in our sale. We have a close working relationship with the Giles, and in particular Cole, who has taken care of show and sale cattle for us for a number of years. Their cattle operation consists of a large commercial cow herd and a smaller select herd of purebred cows. The purebreds cows thrive under the same management conditions as the commercial herd so you can be assured that the bulls offered here will be ranch ready and trouble free.
These 2-year-olds have been targeted for sale as aged bulls, and no bulls have been sold from this group previously. They are April, May, born bulls and have been raised strictly on a high forage-based ration through their first winter, and then pastured until they were 19 months old. From November 1, 2022, they were introduced to a high roughage TMR, and developed slowly up until sale time.

Presence, length and depth of body and extension through her front end gained her the opportunity to step into the feature ranking. Two maternal brothers have gone to the East & West Ranching Co for $9,500 and $10,000. There are only three females on offer from the new Herdsire “Ellingson Three Rivers” which is an outcross pedigree. See female lots 312K, 301K and 309K for more details on the cow family.
Miss Erica 141Z is a “Platinum” cow in our Herdtrax ranking and let me tell you that is not an easy feat. Of course 141Z has spent a fair bit of time in our donor program and it is like collecting eggs in a hen house, a no miss situation. Over the past 5 years, she hasn’t had a sale animal that has sold for less than $10,000, actually averaging just a hair under $16,000. Miss Erica 154K, a Profound female is expected to ring the bell as well, as the first Profound heifers to freshen look amazing. This includes the high selling Profound bred heifer that sold to Knutson/Rideau at the Agribition Sale 2022 bringing $37,000. The Profound progeny in our sale this year, we feel will really impress you and there certainly are more than enough to select from. Don’t miss out on this heifer, there is so much consistency and data to back what is up for grabs. Note of importance is that 141Z is a Tiger daughter and we cannot express enough the value of that in a pedigree.

Dam, HF Tibbie 316B, sold to Grand River Angus $16,000
Tibbie 170K is sired by the breed leader for weaning and yearling growth that has taken the breed by storm! Ellingson Three Rivers is an outcross pedigree. They are high performing, big bodied, stout made cattle. The first Three Rivers females to calve surpassed expectations, breeding back and holding their condition while doing so. Tibbie 170K herself is ranked in the top 1% of the breed in nine categories including WW, YW, RADG, Claw, Carcass Wt, Ribeye, Fat, HPG and CBI …. Pretty impressive! Her dam Tibbie 316B was purchased by Grand River Angus in 2015 for $26,000. A maternal brother to Tibbie 316B sold to Krebs Ranch for $14,000, as well as other brothers to 5B Farms for $10,500, $19,000 to Section 7 Ranch, $26,000 to Grand River Angus and the list goes on! A maternal sister to 170K, a Showman daughter was purchased in 2022 for $25,000 by Grand River Angus. Tibbie 170K is the mirror image of her dam, deep ribbed, lovely fronted, awesome udder and good feet. I believe you can move forward with confidence with this powerfully structured individual and excel in all areas of profitability.

The Mistress cow family originally started at Hamilton Farms with HF Mistress 9481 when our son Wacey bought her from Express Ranches 20 years ago. When there are daughters, grand daughters and great grand daughters still functioning in the herd, it is a real testament to their ability to thrive and maintain their status within the herd, with the proven genetics of Kodiak, Tiger, Greens Premium and Consensus and then adding the new proven sire, Ellingson Three Rivers, this could certainly be an exciting new addition to any herd. Mistress 217K has three generations of Elite Dams on the bottom side of her pedigree! What a combination with the power and performance of Three Rivers on the top.

HF Tibbie 225K is an eye appealing, long bodied, strong topped female with very expressive muscle shape and an attractive front third. Her dam was purchased by the Pastink family (Henria Holsteins) in 2015 through the Angus Collections Sale for $20,000. Tibbie 36B has placed bulls into very reputable commercial herds like T&B Harty and Jenkins Lazy U for $9,000 and $9,500, respectively. KR Southbound is an exciting new herd sire from the prestigious KR Lass 6207 donor cow. Southbound’s progeny possess added power and performance and we expect his daughters to be highly maternal as well.

Another very attractive female that fits the mold “peas in a pod” for the Expansion sire group. Moderate framed, eye appealing, stout made, structurally correct, hairy young females that will compete well with the older females down the road.
“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.”
The combination of the Erica family with our old reliable Crossfire bull and mated to HF Roper 27F has resulted in this very deep bodied, well balanced, stout female. The Crossfire females in the herd are moderate, easy fleshing, good footed pleasing herd builders with calving ease on their side. There are a number of top producing females scattered throughout this pedigree, the ingredients are certainly there. An Alcatraz heifer out of Erica 306E was sold to Western Skies Angus, the Callisons from Idaho and a Showman bull last year went to T&B Harty for $10,000. A no nonsense female that should drop a perfect udder and tons of maternal traits to line the package!
EXPANSION 12G
Here is a very complete, moderate framed, attractive female with a super solid pedigree. Miss Blackcap 75F sold in the 2019 sale going to Grand River Angus for $11,000 and her full sibling 107F to Compass Ranch & Golden Oak for $25,000. Another full brother HF Storm Center 26D, sold to Sun Rise Simmentals for $35,000 and yet another full brother to Granum Colony for $11,000. Blackcap 264K has a tick less frame but she is deep and wide and structurally very correct with the Bride cow in her pedigree, she will certainly make a great cow. A maternal sister sold to 3G Cattle Ventures in 2022 for $8,000, sired by Showman and has an awesome bull calf at side. Miss Blackcap 264K is sired by the Expansion bull we purchased from Bar-E-L Angus in 2020 and our first milking females look like they are the real deal!

A clean made, lovely fronted, deep bodied, structurally sound, hairy female that you should really take note of. I’m really getting repetitious, especially with Miss Blackcap cow families, so refer to Lots 148K, 301K, 309K and 312K for much more history on the Miss Blackcap cow families. There are certainly a lot more details to the many sales and accolades of the families in those lots. And also take note of Bar-E-L Expansion in Lot 80K.

If you analyze this pedigree, you will see that it is stacked full with the Miss Blackcap cow family, which we feel is a plus. Miss Blackcap 258B has without a doubt paid her way. Miss Blackcap 45D sold to Leslie Pelletier in 2017 for $11,000, Stewart Cattle Co purchased 261E in 2018 for $6,500, a bull to East & West Ranching for $7,500 and a feature heifer sired by Showman in 2022 went to Grand River Angus for $23,000. Miss Blackcap 301K is a feature and a poster girl as many of the Blackcap females would rank. It is hard to put into words what this cow family has done over the years to increase the value and quality of our herd. She is sired by HF Storm Center, who we feel did an excellent job building the right kind of females. They are good footed, great udders to add to the awesome presence and depth of body and a super hair coat.
"For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.
Tibbie 86G was purchased from Hamilton Farms by 3G Cattle Ventures in the Angus Collection Sale for $22,000. Her first calf was a Showman, a true calving ease bull that was purchased by East & West Ranching for $10,000. Tibbie 86G’s dam and maternal sibling have both spent time in the donor pen. Tibbie 307K’s photo depicts her as a feature, but unfortunately, we ran out of catalogue room. A young female with loads of potential with Southbound anchoring the top side of the pedigree with loads of maternal power and performance. Take a good look at this young female in the offering!

Maternal Brother, HF Brass 59J, sold to Ranch PJ $34,000
This younger heifer is phenotypically impressive with a flawless pedigree and the ability to repeat that potential every time out. A huge part of success is the ability to breed true. Miss Blackcap 312K will certainly demand your attention when you walk through the heifer pen. This Showman female is exceptional both on paper and in person. Showman females all display such elegant angus characteristics combined with stoutness, length and depth of body and a powerful hip. The Showman progeny have topped the scales both in performance and dollars earned over the past three years in an uncanny fashion. The udders in this Blackcap cow family are tough to beat. Her granddam is Miss Blackcap 220C who sold through our sale for $35,000 to Grand River Angus and her great granddam is the iconic Miss Blackcap 27R who can brag about more high dollar cattle than almost any cow at Hamilton Farms. A full brother to 85G sold to Roe Livestock and 3G Cattle Ventures for $16,000 in 2020. You do not want to miss out on this one!

50 FIRST CUT COMMERCIAL REPLACEMENT OPEN HEIFERS
We are proud to host Brent and Kate Horner from Bull Pound Ranch with their offering of 50 high end, first cut open heifers. This will be a tremendous opportunity to acquire some of the fanciest breeding heifers you will come across. Brent and Kate have been purchasing high quality bulls from Hamilton Farms for over 12 years and these replacement heifers are 100% sired by HF bulls. The quality runs deep in this set of heifers and they will be sold in groups of five, with the high bidder having option to take as many groups as they want. These heifers are currently being developed at the Horner ranch and can be viewed anytime before March 29/2023. IN MEMORY
Grace Hamilton 1925 – 2022
Gracie, Mom, Grandma Grace, Grandma Sweetie…Her patience, love, and understanding was very influential to all of us. Mom was very proud of her family, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren and in later years, her great-grandchildren. Mom dedicated endless amounts of time to her family, and we are all the beneficiaries of her kindness. Lovingly remembered.
Robert Prestage
1936 - 2022
We would classify Bob as a Legend in our beef industry. Bob was well known, not just in Canada, but around the world, for his past work exporting cattle, and promoting the Angus breed. He was a highly respected individual and was continually called on by so many for advice on many issues. Everyone who knew Bob understood that there was only Black… and White… with no chance of grey!! We will miss Bob’s annual phone call the morning after our bull sale…He wouldn’t say hello… just start off his call with, “I don’t know why you’re sitting around this morning; you’ve got a sale to get ready for!!” Yes
Brian Good
1953 – 2022
Brian had a great career working with Angus cattle…firstly with his family owned Black Browe Cattle Co. and then as a marketer, sale promoter, consultant, and lastly as the well-known ‘Mr. Angus’ with the Canadian Angus Association. Brian could easily visit with anybody, whether a good friend or a total stranger, and he dedicated his life to promoting Angus cattle. Brian will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Rick Hagel 1981 – 2022
Bob, we’ll get back out there and start getting ready for next year!! Bob was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
Rick was that guy known for dropping whatever it was he was doing, to go help someone else in need. Rick and Kathryn and daughter Paytin, although unrelated to us, are a cherished extension of our family. Watching Rick take on cancer with unrelentless determination was incredibly inspiring for us. I could only wish that I would have a fraction of the strength Rick had, should I be in a similar situation. Rest easy Rick…You battled hard.
As a sideline, Rick and Kathryn perfected the art of smoking meat and together they served unbelievable meals that people could not forget. Kathryn will carry on with this tradition and will be preparing the prime rib for our sale once again.
A VERY SPECIAL THANKYOU TO ALL THE BUYERS WHO SUPPORTED OUR PROGRAM EVEN WHEN MANY COULDN’T EVEN BE THERE!
