Executive Summary Introduction Our proposed topic is reevaluating and forming a plan of action to construct the library hours to better fit St. Edward’s University’s community. The questions that are guiding my research are: 1. What would the potential effects be of implementing an extended hours program at the library? 2. How to efficiently transition from a library that opens its doors at 7:30 am and closes it at midnight? Discussion and Findings We are going to adopt the same timeline implemented at Kent State and other Universities where they expanded their libraries hours little by little. By establishing longer hours in small periods of time after we are showing that the progress gave positive results which validated for the need of a 24/7 library. We looked at the pros and cons of having a library that was open all day. We also made and distribute a survey that gave a feel of what students wanted. Part of this research focused on the creation of a potential budget and optional solutions to make the proposal a reality. Finally, we studied the data from this extensive research to best plan how and why this project should become adopted by our library. Taking everything into consideration, we are left with: 1. A high demand from students and faculty. 2.
More pros than cons when it comes to the wellness of students lives and grades.
3. A reasonable budget that pays itself in the long run.
