LET’S START A CONVERSATION ABOUT SAN DIEGO REAL ESTATE CHAD’S UPDATE
San Diego’s housing market, while still enjoying high demand, is experiencing a slight shift due to the current rise in mortgage interest rates. With inflation exceeding the Federal Reserve's target of 2% and the anticipated delay in the Fed Funds rate cuts until June, compared to earlier predictions of March, many potential buyers are adopting a more cautious stance. San Diego's high home prices coupled with mortgage interest rates over 7% continue to put drag on the market. This, combined with sellers hesitant to list their properties and give up their 2-4% current mortgage, is leading to a temporary slowdown in activity. I will say that even though we are seeing a lower number of sales countywide, we are seeing quality homes sell at exceptional prices in the coastal markets like Point Loma, La Jolla, Del Mar and Coronado. It's important to remember that San Diego's inherent appeal – consistently recognized for its exceptional quality of life – remains a constant. While affordability may be a current challenge, the long-term value proposition of owning a piece of paradise in San Diego shouldn't be overlooked. The market may adjust, but San Diego's sunshine, beaches, and vibrant culture continue to be a powerful draw for residents and investors alike.
