Our Pacific Beach home is built on a crawl space. I haven’t been down there in years....should I have someone look at it?

Answer:

A lot of our Pacific Beach homes are built with a crawl space and that comes with some pro’s and con’s. Major advantage: it allows you to see the area under the home and gives good access for repairsfoundation or plumbing/ electrical.

A home built on a concrete slab, you can’t see much unless you pull up all the floors and see the concrete from the top. The negatives: that foundation system usually needs to be updated as codes, building standards, earthquake retrofits...

change. It can also allow for water instruction and rodents. If you start to experience sloping in the floors of your home, that’s a big red flag! A few options for getting a professional into that space to see if there are any issues: -Foundation Company (I have a good one that isn’t an alarmist)

We had a microwave brake recently and I was looking at disposal options since I know these types of appliances aren’t supposed to go in the trash can.

I found a free drop off location near the Sports Arena. You drive right up, they take it from you and all done! No paperwork, doesn’t have to be working and the guys told me to tell people that we take anything with a cord: electronics, TV’s, computer monitors, laptops, ipads, cameras, networking equipment, etc.
