social media marketing tips for beginners Social media is the way to go these days! In additional to a corporate website, reaching out to potential clients regularly can be achieved via various social media. Here are a bevy of tips to use Facebook more effectively: 1. A fan page is for your company Facebook page; a profile page is for your personal page. Remember the difference, or Facebook will shut your page down. That would be a major “fail.” 2. Use the real estate available to you: Put up a great profile pic, have a bio, and add links to your other sites. 3. Add pictures. Pictures enable people to see what your brand is about and realize it’s more than just a “logo.” Upload pictures from events, conferences, demos, and just the regular everyday awesomeness in your office. 4. Be human! Don’t just post, post, post. No one wants to hear all about you, all the time. Ask questions, reply, and talk as you would in everyday life. 5. Share other people’s posts. Engage and demonstrate that you value content and opinions from others, too. 6. Connect your platforms. Did you write a blog post? Have it automatically post on your Facebook page so others can have access to it easily and quickly. 7. Have contests or other exciting giveaways or events, which encourage both online and offline participation with your brand via Facebook. 8. Update regularly, not occasionally. Fans grow accustomed to the regularity of posts; they will fall off your loyal fan wagon if you don’t keep up. 9. Monitor your success with your fans and to see why and when your fans’ activity increases or decreases. It’s helpful for future campaigns and promotions. 10. Be relevant. Post content that provides value to your target audience, but also add some fun stuff, too. The 80/20 rule is a great way to start out: That’s 80 percent relevant content, 20 percent fun stuff. Happy Facebooking! From impactful stationary, all your designing & printing needs, marketing materials to websites Print Plus International is your designing, printing & marketing partner. Hong Kong Resource Guide 2014’s Charity Partner - Rotary Club Kowloon Golden Mile The liveliest & friendliest Rotary Club in Hong Kong What Is Rotary? Rotary is a global network of community volunteers. Rotary club members are business, professional, and community leaders in your locality who meet regularly to plan and implement community service activities and network with other professionals. For those interested, members can also choose to become involved in international humanitarian service efforts. More than 1.2 million men and women in over 200 countries and geographical areas belong to over 33,000 Rotary clubs. Rotary builds international understanding through scholarships, exchange programs, and humanitarian grants. Throughout the world, Rotary clubs participate in a broad range of educational, intercultural, and humanitarian activities designed to improve the lives of others.

Benefits of Membership Belonging to a Rotary club provides members with an opportunity to make a contribution to their own communities and to communities around the world. Members may join Rotary for many reasons, including community involvement, personal development, professional networking, and camaraderie with fellow members. But perhaps the most important benefit is the satisfaction gained from making a real difference in the world.

Service above Self From the earliest days of the organization, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The 4-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor. The 4-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions: Of the things we think, say or do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill & better friendship? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? For more information, visit www.rckgm.org or email neerja@nsujanani.com

From your friendly Dentist A few FAQs from your friendly, neighbourhood Dentist, now with a new branch in Tung Chung... How often should I see the dentist? Must I go if I don’t have any pain? We recommend regular dental check ups every six months to ensure clean and healthy teeth and gums. Dental problems can present painlessly, therefore it is not advisable to wait until you are in pain to see the dentist. We endeavor to see patients in pain the same day so please give us a call if something doesn’t feel right. Are xrays safe? Are they really necessary? Xrays or Radiographs are essential in helping the dentist diagnose conditions such as decay in between the teeth and gum disease. Previous crowns and fillings can also be checked. At Bayside Dental we use the latest techniques in digital radiography for faster, clearer images and, more importantly, less radiation. Several studies have shown that dental xrays emit the lowest amount of radiation when compared to natural (outer space) and atmospheric radiation. In addition, our dentists take every precaution to ensure that we take xrays only when necessary, for example, during new patient appointments, checking wisdom teeth, etc. It is always helpful to bring your previous xrays to our dentists, especially if they are within the last year or so. At what age should I take my child to the dentist for the first check-up? We usually recommend bringing your child for a dental examination between age 2 to 2 and a half years. It can be beneficial for you to bring your child with you to your own dental check up before this time to familiarise them with the dental environment. At the first appointment the dentist will focus on checking the teeth, reinforcing teeth cleaning techniques and giving dietary advice. Early prevention and good habits will give your child the best possible start in caring for their teeth. What can I do to whiten my teeth? Teeth discolour over time, whether it’s from smoking, drinking coffee, or simply getting older. The good news is, it is possible to reverse this discolouration to a certain extent by teeth whitening. When done properly, teeth whitening is safe, effective and gives you a natural, younger smile. A check up is necessary to make sure you will benefit from this procedure. What are implants? Are they painful? When a tooth is unsaveable/lost, implants can be placed. Implants are small titantium fixtures that integrate into your bone to give you a strong and natural looking tooth replacement. This procedure is not painful and will save the rest of your teeth from unnecessary loading which occurs when teeth are missing.

How to start a business in Hong Kong Hong Kong is an ideal place to start a business. It boasts of an international economy and widespread government support, including a number of tax incentives and advisory offices It is strategically located at the centre of Asia, such that any major cities in Asia is just a few hours flight away. This, alongwith a highly efficient banking system and low tax regime, has attracted businesses from all over the world. The process for setting up a business and registering it with the government will vary depending on whether you are setting up a sole proprietorship, a partnership, or a corporation. No matter what, however, your first step will be to visit the Business Registration Office. Here you will fill out forms and pay a fee in order to get a Business Registration Certificate. This certificate will then be valid for one year. If you are registering a sole-proprietorship (you are self-employed) or a partnership you and/or your partners will have to submit identification – either a passport or an ID card - in addition to the required forms. Limited companies must register with the Companies Registry, where the necessary registration paperwork can be completed. For obvious reasons, the processing period for companies lasts longer than that of sole proprietorships or partnerships. Finally, since Hong Kong is such an enormous business centre, you may want to consider purchasing a ¨shelf company¨ instead of starting one from scratch. Shelf companies are companies that are organized and registered, yet remain inactive. If you decide to pursue this arrangement, you will want to do so with the help of an accountant. Acquiring capital - Flexible banking system enables good businesses to acquire cost effective funds. While absolute collateral free funds are not easy, businesses have various options to raise debt funds in Hong Kong. Hong Kong also has a vibrant Angel Investment community and is a hub for Venture Capital funding in Asia. Taxes in Hong Kong - Hong Kong has some of the lowest tax rates in the world – and the lowest in Asia. This means that there are numerous deductions from which your business will be able to benefit. Some of the most attractive deductions are costs paid toward the future production of profit (e.g. the purchase of machinery or computers). You will often be able to receive a full tax refund for these expenses. Whether you are self-employed or the owner of a large company, you will probably want to consult with a major accountancy firm when filing your tax returns. This will ensure that you are able to take maximum advantage of available tax deductions. Head to Toe Take care of yourself! Taking care of oneself is not specific to a certain requirement or need – to be well inside and out, we need to take care of ourselves from ‘head to toe’! Here are treatments and services that each one must consider for themselves throughout the year. The other piece of advice is to gauge the weather and season and keep ones treatments ever changing to match these requirements. Hair – Keep your hair well coiffured at all times and throughout the year – use treatments to treat damaged hair. Eyes – These shape our face and draw attention to it – trim and shape your eyebrows at regular intervals. Consider eyelash and eyebrow tinting and eyebrow perming. Look into Moxa Bustion for dark circles and fine lines around the eyes. Face – use deep cleansing, cleaning and mask techniques. Other options available are ozone steaming, Facials such as peeling facial, collagen facials, aroma, hot mask, thermal modeling clay facials and other interesting facials such as glycolic catiovital and IPL photo facials. It’s a good idea to get micro derm abrasions done from time to time. A lymph drainage facial treatment performed using specific movements to drain toxins from the skin.
This facial is individually tailored to suit your skin. It is rebalancing, moisturizing, relaxing and reviving. Mini lifts to re-contour your face are also available. Makeup – is a girls best friend, diamonds follow! Whether its day, night, office, light or bridal makeup – there are specific techniques for each one. Hair removal – Keep your skin hair free all over your body for a cleaner, neater and healthier outlook. Consider waxing, IPL, laser and electrolysis hair removal treatments. Body Treatments
- Masssages are a must from time to time and to keep the body’s circulation going – massages have very many other benefits. One can use aromatherapy oils specifically made to suit your body’s needs.
Invigorating massages are designed to stimulate blood circulation and ease muscular tension. Body treatments can include massages such as lymphatic, relaxing, slimming, spot-reducing, electro therapy etc. Also interesting are paraffin wax baths and oxygen treatments. Slimming Treatments
- use these alongwith a combination of diet and workouts. Ensure a combination of various techniques to help eliminate toxins and stimulate blood circulation. The result is a breakdown of cellulite and centimeter loss. Also look for a new slimming treatment called cavitation slimming as seen on Dr Oz, the TV show. Hands and feet – Manicures and pedicures are a must for today’s modern women; maintenance is key. There are new treatments such as para waxing treatments. Gel or acrylic nails are available for those that are not blessed with great natural nails. Relax, enjoy and make some “me time” for yourself from time to time! Celebrity Makeup Artist & Eyebrow Queen Nigar Qureshi is owner of Spa Beaute Par Zai – Hong Kong’s oldest day spa. Look at Me! It has been said that 60% of all communications is body language. I tend to agree. In many cases when I am coaching and a person asks if they can speak in their mother tongue I say no problem. Even in a language foreign to me I can “see” what the speaker is saying. Subconsciously we pick up signs from those we communicate with. It’s been shown that females are far stronger at both using and understanding body language – it’s unfortunate that men cannot always read a ladies body language! So if you want to reach out to a guy you really need to emphasize with both words and gestures. Many books have been written about this subject. I would highly recommend a TED talk by Amy Cuddy (viewed 18 million times) on how our body language shapes the way we are. We can become a more confident speaker by just changing our body stance. Here’s some simple gestures – try them on a friend and see if they can guess what you are really saying –

Brisk, erect walk = Confident Standing with hands on hips = Readiness, aggression Sitting with legs crossed, foot kicking slightly = Boredom, Arms crossed on chest = Defensive, against your point Touching, slightly rubbing nose = Telling a lie! Eyes downward = Telling a lie Patting/fondling hair = Lack of self-confidence; insecurity

The important point is to be aware of your body language and that of other peoples – so when they are looking at you - it’s for all the right reasons!

BRAND ‘ Y O U ‘ The Magic of Attractive Body Language Catch admirable attention immediately; be more attractive than a just beautiful or handsome face. It’s inner attractiveness that actually creates ‘Brand YOU’! Only good looks, a great body, gorgeous clothes and glamour grooming do not sustain a popular person, successful careers and relationships. Brand ‘YOU’ starts first with your own self acceptance. No matter who you are- how tall or short, slim or healthy, dark or fair, wealthy or not, simple, middle class or higher, able or disabled, first appreciate and accept yourself confidently. If you don’t appreciate and respect yourself first, why would others? Since years now, its beauty with brains that wins beauty queens their title and crown. Personalities and celebrities are now aware to use their beauty with a further purpose of helping others. We can start in our own way to do so, with those around us. Don’t wait for people to ask your help. Be observant and offer it. This is a major facet of Brand ‘YOU’, akin to offering perfect relationship services. Not just words, but adding appropriate body language sustains greatest relationship success. Leaders and heroes do this intrinsically. Rising for people, offering your hand, allowing others the right of way, holding doors, offering apologies with a hug or a light touch. Going out of your way, with the right action at the right moment. Common sense is not so common! Your social graces build your brand - take notice of others when you pass by each other. Flash a smile, no matter how small, nod as if you know each other, add your own styles – whether waving or greeting, go ahead and introduce yourself, start a chat – that’s magnetic beauty. Anyone who gives time and attention to another, creates the chemisty of love and popularity. You can magnetise anyone. Teach yourself attractive facial expressions! Mesmerize anyone with a variety of smiles, bright eye expressions, attentive head movements, gentle nod of your head and more. Many people are quite expressionless. They lack energy to smile, hug, shake hands or to reply more than a yes or no. Posture yourself as a royal personality, or leader. Entering, walking, standing and sitting tall projects you in a higher position. It alerts others that you are valuable and interested. It also makes you look taller and slimmer. Sit or rise gracefully, in the fewest movements, along with your things. Never slouch, suggesting you are lazy or easily tired. Use attractive listening skills - drop what you are doing and look up at the speaker. Listen with interest! Never interrupt, else signal them for an interruption. Speakers too are impressed by an appreciative audience, who shows signs of listening, enjoyment and interest. Speaking with style – Its not what you say, but how you say it, that makes a difference! Express yourself attractively. Stress complments and de stress critical parts. Keep solutions ready. So, what makes one the favourite son, sister/ brother, best friend or favourite daughter in law etc. – it’s the aspect of attention, and communication with others. That’s the difference between brands. Health Benefits of Milk Milk is an important part of our diet. We begin drinking it when we are young, but our intake decreases as we get older. Some people shy away from it because they fear that it will add too much fat to their diet. Others leave it out because they believe that they no longer need it. You are never too old to reap the rewards of drinking milk. It is a great source of vitamins and nutrients, and it has several health benefits, such as: 1. Glowing Skin Milk has several nutrients which help skin look its best. It has lactic acid which can act as an exfoliant and enzymes to help smooth and moisturize skin. Milk can help prevent damage from environmental toxins because it has antioxidants. However, if you have a sensitivity to milk or dairy products, milk can actually aggravate your skin. 2. Healthy Bones and Teeth Milk is a great source of calcium, which is essential for healthy bones. Not only do young children need it while their bones are growing, but adults need it to keep their bones strong and to prevent osteoporosis. Milk is also great for strong teeth, and it helps prevent tooth decay and cavities. 3. Muscles Milk contains protein, which helps to rebuild muscles. Drink a glass of milk after you exercise to give your body what it needs to recover. It will help to keep soreness at bay while replenishing fluids that you lost during your workout. 4. Weight Loss Studies show that women who drink low-fat or skim milk lose more weight than those who exclude milk from their diet. It is a great appetizer and it makes a healthy snack. 5. Less Stress Milk is a great way to de-stress at the end of the day. A glass of warm milk will help to relax tense muscles and soothe frayed nerves. Milk has also been proven to reduce symptoms of PMS and boost energy. 6. Healthy Body Milk has properties that lower high blood pressure and risk of strokes. It reduces the liver’s production of cholesterol, and it can act as an antacid. Vitamins A and B in milk can help build good eyesight. Milk has also been show to help lower risk of certain cancers. There are several varieties of milk on the market, such as whole, 2%, low-fat and fat free.

Best of Turkish Cuisine You can find a great variety of mouth watering dishes in Turkish cuisine which is mostly the heritage of Ottoman cuisine. It is the mixture and refinement of Central Asian, Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. Therefore it is impossible to fit Turkish cuisine into a short list. Best Known Dishes  Kebaps — Kebap is the common name for a dish where meat is coated around a skewer and grilled over a charcoal fire. Originally the meat consisted of lamb or beef, but nowadays you can also chose chicken.  Döner –In essence it is a dish of beaten pieces of meat seasoned with suet, local herbs and spices, skewered on a spit and grilled vertically.  Köfte — It is commonly referred to as meatballs, but they come in all shapes. The köftebasics are ground meat (usually lamb or mutton) mixed with crumbled bread, minced onions and spices. The most common dish is Izgara Köfte, where the meat mixture is grilled and served with grilled green peppers, chopped parsley, crumbled dried red peppers and rice or bread on the side.  Mantı – You could think of mantı as some kind of dumplings. This excellent Turkish dish contains two main ingredients: the dough and the filling, which consists of grounded beef or lamb, onion, salt and pepper. Popular Turkish Side Dishes  Pilav — There is a great variety of pilaf in the Turkish cuisine, yet the easiest one to make is the most favorite and available one: sade pilav. It is plain rice cooked in water with butter/vegetable oil and noodle like small pasta pieces –şehriye. Varieties are rice cooked with eggplants, chickpeas, meat or liver slices; and of course spices like cinnamon, pepper, thyme, cumin and even almonds.  Bulgur Pilavı – this side dish looks like rice but is actually wheat. The most common type is cooked with roasted onions, green peppers, tomato paste and mint. One of my favorites.  Fried vegetables — Fried eggplants, green peppers, and zucchini with tomato sauce or yogurt are one of the best treats. According to your liking garlic is always welcomed with the sauce or the yogurt.  Mücver — The main ingredients of this popular Turkish dish are shredded zucchini, eggs and flour. A very common cooking preference adds white cheese, green onions and mint. It is lightly fried in vegetable or olive oil, and served hot as a side dish.  Cacık — A very refreshing mixture of grinded or shredded cucumbers with diluted yogurt, garlic and mint. On a hot summers day some serve it with some ice cubes in it, to make it even more refreshing. How To Apply Make-up - 10 Easy Steps 1) Start by MOISTURIZING your skin and let it absorb. 2) Add a little PRIMER, avoiding the eye area. The primer helps to even out the skin and also helps your make-up stay longer. 3) Next, apply the FOUNDATION or TINTED MOISTURIZER, a shade that matches your skin tone. Use a sponge or a foundation brush to apply making sure it’s blended evenly. 4) Dab some CONCEALER where needed, usually under the eyes and onto any imperfections you want to hide. 5) Set everything with TRANSLUCENT POWDER using a powder puff or a powder brush. Add a little powder also on the eyelids to help your eye shadow stay longer. 6) EYEBROWS frame the face and should always be groomed. Use an eyebrow pencil or eye shadow to fill in where needed. Clear mascara will help to set the eyebrows and help them to look neat and tidy. 7) EYE SHADOW; for natural look, use shades such as browns, gold, peach and plum, depending on your skin tone. For evening look, use colors such as deep purples, midnight blues and shimmery shades to create a glam look. 8) Use EYELINER for definition and apply as close to the lash line as possible and blend in to soften the line. You can also apply a thin line on the outer corners of the lower lash line and blend in. Finish off with MASCARA. For an evening look or a more dramatic look, use a liquid or gel liner. Use a pencil eyeliner on the lower waterline. 9) BLUSH helps to make your face glow and look alive. There are different types on the market to suit every skin type. Powder and gel blushes are good for oily skin; cream blush is best for normal to dry skin. Whichever type you choose, its shade should match your natural coloring, so try to pick one that reflects your color when you blush normally. Fair Skin: Soft Pink / Light Coral / Peach Medium Skin: Rich Pink / Warm Mauve / Deep Peach Olive Skin: Orangey Peach / Rose / Bronze Dark Skin: Deep Fuchsia / Warm Brown / Tangerine 10) Finally the LIPSTICK. Choose the right lip color to match your skin tone, outfit, and the occasion. Wear a lighter or more neutral color with a matte or cream finish during the day and / or to complement heavier eye makeup. Darker, glossier and more dramatic colors are great for a night on the town. Lipliner will help your lipstick to stay in place. Gloss will finish off the look. 3 Reasons Why You Should go to bed on a positive note The moments before you sleep are very significant and can act as a catalyst to achieving your dreams, or file away anxieties and failures for future reference. Our suggestion would be to kiss your bedtime stresses goodbye and choose positive thoughts that support and elevate you. Here are three benefits for sleeping on a positive note: 1. Your emotions decide your experience of life Every night before you go to bed, your mind does a review of everything that happened in the day and your feelings towards it; and then stores it in your subconscious mind which is 6000 times more powerful than the conscious. If you sleep feeling angry or depressed, the toxic emotion will be stored in your mind and affect how you feel about similar people or situations years later. 2. Your subconscious operates on a “last-in-first-out” basis The last thing you think about is the first thing the subconscious mind receives and inputs, making it go deeper into the recesses of your mind. Thus sleeping on a negative note will only make the emotion go deeper. 3. Your thoughts creep into your dreams Your thoughts get processed and managed via your dreams in your sleep, and hence negative thoughts can result in light or disturbed sleep. This sets the scene for the same thing to happen the next day and puts you in a sabotaging cycle. The Solution: The best thing you can do for yourself is to be aware of the power of your thoughts. It is very easy to fall into the trap of replaying a negative day and editing it in your head; going through how it could have been handled differently. Regardless of how bad your day was avoid the negative self-talk as it will not help. Choose to accept, learn and move forward because you cannot undo but you can be better. Go through your entire day before you sleep and make peace with what happened so that you don’t sleep on any negative emotions. 9 tips for a clearer complexion You don’t have to spend a fortune on cosmetics. For best results, take care of yourself with natural products and try our tips for healthy-looking skin. 1. Stay away from soap Soap is highly alkaline, and it can damage theskin’s natural barriers. Choose a soap-free cleanser instead. 2. Minimize your sun exposure Avoid UV rays as much as possible. This is the basis for preventing premature aging and lowering your risk of developing skin cancer. When outdoors, wear a wide-brimmed hat and choose clothing that covers as much of the skin as possible. 3. Protect your skin Never go in the sun without wearingsunscreen, preferably with a zinc oxide base. Apply half an hour before exposure. 4. Boost your fibre intake Skin impurities are often due to digestive problems. Good health starts with goodnutrition, so make sure to eat plenty ofhealthy foods for glowing skin such as fruits, raw vegetables and whole grains. 5. Protect yourself Avoid the enemies of your skin: stress, late nights, coffee, alcohol and cigarettes are the worst offenders. 6. Hydrate your face daily Proper hydration can minimize the appearance of wrinkles, prevent tightness and dryness and “pump up” the cells, giving a softer, more even look to the skin. 7. Drink plenty of water Skin is up to 15 percent water. In climate-controlled offices, where humidity never goes about 8 to 10 percent, moisture in the skin evaporates more quickly than it can regenerate. 8. Try a facial mask with fruit acids With regular use, fruit acids and enzymes can help clear away dead skin, improving blemishes and imperfections and clarifying the skin. To save money, make masks at home more often than purchasing expensive products. 9. Move regularly Regular physical activity restores vitality to your skin and remains the best way to stay in shape. Choose an activity that you enjoy and make it part of your daily routine.

Success….and S U C C E S S Do you remember what happened as soon as you were born? There was a celebration…Yes, you had managed to come through the approximately nine months of gestation and then made it through the birth canal (or via cesarean section ) into this life : your first experience of success …It was celebrated by the entire world around you. This set you up for wanting more. It is quite intoxication to be the centre of attention and celebration, and so you wanted to being cheered and admired… If you close your eyes, just FEEL how it feels, the love streaming towards you, the clapping of hands, the “well done”s, “you are soooo clever”... Indeed, it feels wonderful, and from that young age we now look for this approval, and we call it “success”. There are many world we look up are “successful”, really mean? To me of success: “outer success”.

people in the to because they but what does this there are two types success” and “inner

Outer success would be the financial success due to hard work or brilliance or because we happen to be beautiful and become a movie star , a promotion at work, recognition from our peers. Outer trappings, which are commendable when achieved as they seldom just fall into our laps. Inner success comes from following your purpose, from “being in alignment” with who we are intended to be, finding this inner space of contentment and freedom and radiating it out to the world, thus impacting and changing it positively. For this to happen it takes an “awakening” to your soul. How can we awaken? There are many ways and many illusions around this. Some most effective ways are meditation, contemplation and pondering (day dreaming). When we do these, we settle the mind we come closer to our innermost self. The deep joy that comes from inner work, from a commitment to yourself, enables you to be so much more; this, I personally call true SUCCESS, and this is when the Universe, or God, celebrates with you and thanks you for being the best you can possibly BE.

How to get rid of stretch marks Who wouldn’t want to put on those colorful bikinis and look lovely on a beach? But are those stretch marks on your body stopping you from feeling confident? This article might provide some solutions that you have been looking for. Striae, more commonly known as stretch marks, are a form of scars on skin. Stretch marks develop when the skin is stretched more than it can handle, causing elastin and collagen to break. Collagen helps fight off excessive stretches and keeps your skin firm. However, if collagen level in your skin is low, it will cause the skin fibers to breakdown; reddish, pink lines and marks start to appear and develop on the surface of your skin. The color of stretch marks change overtime. The older the stretch marks are, the lighter the color will be and most colors will fade with time. The abdomen, underarm, buttocks and thighs are the most common affected areas. So what causes stretch marks? Sudden weight gain, high body mass index, pregnancy and low levels of glucocorticoid hormones, (adrenal cortical steroids, a chemical which is released from the adrenal gland) cause your skin to stretch, break in places and develop into stretch marks. Anyone might experience stretch marks, even teenagers. The good news is there are ways you can prevent and even eliminate them with great care. Watch what you eat Whether you have recently gained a lot of weight or have given birth, it is good to maintain a healthier diet in general. Opt for foods that are rich in vitamin C, E, zinc and silica. Include wheat and grain in your diet- Antioxidants are found in many plant-based foods, such as green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, legumes, nuts, grains, seeds and oils. These power foods help maintain your metabolism and absorb antioxidants. Eat aloe vera- it is another great food item to have in your diet. It contains high levels of amino acid and fatty acids, as well as vitamin A, C, E, folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 , B6 and also B12. Try adding some aloe vera in coconut water for a good diet cleanse. Watch what you use Most bathing products you get in pharmacies, cosmetics stores and supermarkets contain chemicals and harsh foaming agents which cause drying.

Avoid shower gel: use anything that does not contain chemicals will help minimize dehydrating after shower. Exfoliate: scrubbing away dead skin gives your skin a chance to regenerate new skin cells and rebuild a softer surface. Massage: use nourishing oils and moisturizers to massage the affected areas twice a day. It is important to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated at all times for stretch marks to heal. Moisturize: Choose products which contain high levels of vitamin A and E. Cocoa butter, shea butter and almond oil contain high levels of vitamin A and E which are vital for great looking and healthy skin. It is better to use oil and butter based moisturizers as most store bought lotions, which are water based, tend to have a lot of harmful chemicals and evaporate too quickly before your skin gets a chance to absorb the nutrients. These are the must-have oils especially for those who are expecting. Watch how you move Include an exercise plan in your schedule. Weight loss is never an overnight event. There is no fast track when it comes to losing weight. Take it one small step at a time will help you succeed in a long run. Build an exercising habit and regain your confidence. Confidence gives you a natural glow. Do you enjoy salsa dancing? Hoolahooping? Perhaps taking a serene yoga class? Do you get pumped up during aerobic exercise or circuit training? What about a nice walk around the Peak? Try something fun and decide which one you enjoy the most, then stick to it. Last but not least, give yourself a pat on the shoulder. There is no need to be hard on yourself. Follow the tips as your beauty ritual and it will help accelerate the healing process. Remember to nurture the inner you as well as the exterior of your body. Whether you have suffered from major weight gain, or you have just given birth, you are beautiful and strong, with or without the stretch marks. PARENTING TIPS - POSITIVE SELF-IMAGE We all need good listeners - WHY? • To build: Positive self Image • Parent child relationship • Children’s emotional and physical status Recall your growing years! Do you carry a positive self image of your growing years or were you hampered by everyone’s view and eventually lost your own identity? The growing number of behavioral problems among children could suggest that most of the families are struggling to cope with the frustrations and stress they are experiencing. As a parent it is important to know that children’s emotional and physical status, as well as their social and cognitive development, significantly depend on the family dynamics and upbringing. Children are like sponges whatever they see they absorb quickly. They are not in control of their feelings or understanding of the reality in life. As a parent it is your obligation to feel their emotions and understand their feelings throughout their growing years. Parents’ ability to cope with the challenges maybe reflected in children’s ability to cope with their problems. Uninvolved parents make children come under tremendous peer pressure. Critical parents turn children into anger and violent behaviors. The emotional and social outcomes are significantly different for children whose parents play a visible and nurturing role in their upbringing. Parental education and healthy parenting types with a supervised and professional family counselling therapy can bring healing to parent and child relationships. What does the term guidance mean? Professional guidance can be effective for anyone who wants to enhance their skills in parenting, marital relationship, personality, body care, professional career and healthy life styles.

Zumba! What is Zumba? Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance. With 11 different programs Zumba is for anybody and everybody. You’ve probably heard of the fitness craze Zumba, a workout known as a dance fitness party. It was created by Colombian Alberto (Beto) Perez during the 1990’s and introduced to the United States in Miami in 1999. At present approximately 14 million people take weekly Zumba classes in over 140,000 locations across more than 185 countries. One of the most commonly asked questions is “Is Zumba effective for weight loss?” The answer is YES. Zumba fitness may feel like a party, but research suggests that it’s also a highly effective workout. It’s a total body, high-energy aerobic workout that is also good for core strengthening and flexibility gains because there are lots of hip and midsection movements. In a one-hour class an average of 369 calories can be burnt. The thing that makes it most effective is how much fun it is. That’s what keeps people coming back for more. “Ditch the workout – Join the party!”

More the flexibility greater will be perfection in every dance move. Stretch every day. 3) Variations in Techniques Bring in variations. Work towards perfecting every variation which will differentiate you from other dancers. Practicing every technique will help you make the perfect moves. 4) Attire Wearing the right kind of clothes/costume which will help unrestricted movement of every part of your body. The right kind of shoes helps in getting the right posture while dancing as well as brings elegance and poise while performing. The right kind of shoes for every dance form protects the legs and feet while dancing. 5) Expressions A Smile depicts happiness. A smile expresses pleasure and portrays your passion or love for dancing. Emoting while dancing brings the character alive in you and enhances your performance. 6) Loosen up Be relaxed while dancing, a stiff posture may lead to injury to your muscles. If tensed before a performance, take deep breath and release, unwind to the music, let the rhythm take control of you and feel yourself swaying to the beats.

3 top tips for completing a successful application form Every school has an application form. Think it’s a simple form? Think again! It’s worth thinking very carefully before diving in to complete even the most seemingly simple of application forms . And, then there are the application forms (and questionnaires and surveys and supporting documents) that are far from simple. Those can take weeks or months. That’s why you often get two years to do it!! Think of the application form as you think of a resumé – the objective of both is to get you through to the next round … the interview. Apart from the obvious – ensuring it is accurate, complete, grammatical, neat and on time, we suggest 3 top tips: #1: Prepare a few paragraphs in answer to the question: ‘Do you have any other information or comments about this applicant which may be helpful?’ Include info about your child’s learning style, achievements, interests, etc Some forms may have a section, or a choice of a few sections, where you can insert some – or all – of this information. #2: Choose a photo that shows your family’s character Some schools will ask for a family photo. Never, ever use a studio shot!! Choose one showing your family doing something cultural, fun or meaningful. It should be recent – within the last 6 months, in focus and of the file size specified. #3: Write a cover letter It’s not usually asked for, or needed but why not? Describe what you observed when you visited (you DID visit, didn’t you?!), how you connect with the school’s philosophy and how you feel your child would be a good fit. But, of course, be honest. We do recommend completing the traditional forms digitally in perfectly proper English and with all supporting documents. If you need assistance to submit applications, we can help. With these three top tips, it’s possible to make an apparently ordinary application stand out…at least a -bit. And, then the rest is up to you and your child at the interview stage.
