Cosplay, short for costume play, is a performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character or idea that is usually identified with a unique name. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture centered on role play. A broader use of the term cosplay applies to any costumed role play in venues apart from the stage, regardless of the cultural context. (wikipedia)
Cosplay can be any character of a comic, movie, tv-series, time-period. Cosplay is for any age, any color, gender, or background. When you cosplau you enter into another world and can be anyone you want. Ideas are endless and the imaginations run wild.

Always ask- There are plenty of reasons a person may not want their picture taken at a certain time (ex: running late for a panel, need to fix something on their costume, etc). Always ask before assuming it’s okay to photograph.

1939: Forrest J. Ackerman, perhaps the greatest fan of science fiction who ever lived, attended the first ever World Science Fiction Convention, or Worldcon, in “futuristicostume.” Ackerman “strode the streets looking like a proto-superhero” speaking Esperanto with his friend and the designer of his costume, Myrtle Douglas. He was the first sci-fi fan to attend a conference in costume.
Anime Conventions are filled with panels, dancing, movies, video games, video game competitions, dance- offs, and massive shopping.
