CarDefender extends the reach of your security solution outside your front door

Where older vehicles are targeted with traditional smash-and-grab techniques, modern cars are being stolen with more sophisticated techniques, using keyless technology to trick the car into thinking the key is present and operational. Keyless thefts are twice as likely to happen, and it can take as little as 60 seconds.

Over 123,000 vehicles of all types were stolen between September 2021 and 2022, according to the Office of National Statistics. That’s a shocking increase of 29% from the previous 12-month period.

Recognising the worrying rate at which vehicle theft has increased over the last couple of years, Pyronix set out to develop a steadfast solution. Having conferred with security industry professionals and conducted thorough market research, the company determined that a one-of-a-kind, brand-new-to-market product that works in conjunction with their existing systems was the way forward – and the CarDefender was created.

CarDefender has been nominated as a finalist at this year’s Benchmark Innovation

These detection modes identify shock or movement caused by intruders attempting to gain entry to the vehicle or movement of the steering wheel, for example.

Vehicles are often parked away from properties, so the device has been developed with this in mind. The CarDefender is added to the system as an unsupervised zone, enabling it to be

driven outside of the wireless range without causing a fault. By allocating it to an area of its own, the device adheres to all necessary standards and protocols to enable the full system to remain Grade 2 compliant. When returning to the property, the device wakes within 5 minutes, or the user can manually do this using the handy Back to Home button on the front of the device.

Moreover, the CarDefender is a particularly versatile solution as it delivers for multiple use cases. With its conformally coated PCB (ideal for changeable environments), a specially designed, brightlycoloured silicone rubber mount and the option to secure with the 3M tape provided, the device can be fitted to a range of assets, including vans, caravans, bikes, motorcycles and

With a one-year battery life, a two-year warranty and HomeControl2.0 connectivity, the CarDefender provides professional installers with something completely unique, helping them to differentiate themselves in the marketplace and add value to their offering.

For critical applications like lift alarms and emergency call points, VoiceLink ensures compliance with safety standards and keeps everything running smoothly—no matter what.

Lift Alarms: The UK has around 300,000 lifts, each with a PSTN-dependent alarm system. Without an upgrade, these alarms could become non-compliant, potentially putting lives at risk. VoiceLink makes sure that doesn’t happen.

Emergency Lines: Think about the emergency call points you see on motorways, at train stations, and in other high-risk areas. They all rely on PSTN lines, and they all need an upgrade. VoiceLink keeps these vital

communication channels open, protecting public safety and ensuring everything works as it should.

VoiceLink Feartures:

Resilience: VoiceLink comes with a CSL roaming SIM and backup options for 2G and 3G, so you’re covered even in tough conditions.

4G VoLTE: This technology converts PSTN calls to 4G VoLTE, giving you better sound quality and the ability to use voice and data at the same time.

Battery Backup: If the power goes out, VoiceLink has you covered with up to eight hours of standby time.

Easy Installation: VoiceLink is a plugand-play solution, so there’s no need to reprogram your existing equipment. It’s a quick and painless upgrade.

With the PSTN switch-off on the horizon, finding a reliable and future-proof communication solution is more important than ever. CSL’s VoiceLink offers a simple, cost-effective way to make sure that critical systems like lift alarms and emergency lines stay up and running in a post-PSTN world. It’s not just about staying compliant; it’s about keeping people safe and businesses running smoothly.

Helping trains run smoothly with AI

A.I. Tech has launched AI-RAIL, a new video analysis application based on advanced artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms for railway safety. The solution detects obstacles on railway tracks – perhaps we are approaching a time when ‘leaves on the track’ will no longer be a reason for railway delays.

The application offers a high degree of control, allowing it to be activated and deactivated using software (API) or hardware (I/O device). This flexibility ensures that the app avoids triggering alarms while the rail crossing is open, allowing vehicles to pass without any restrictions.

AI-RAIL is a proactive system designed to monitor rail crossings to ensure their clearness. It can also be utilised near tunnels or rocky ridges where there is a significant risk of falling rocks. The system’s primary function is to enhance safety and prevent potential accidents in these high-risk areas.

This application has two main uses: at rail crossings and in tunnels. At crossings, the application is intermittent. It checks for any obstacles, such as objects, vehicles, or people, that might obstruct the train when the barrier is closed. It activates via external inputs only when the rail crossing buried is down and deactivates during its regular use.

The system must continuously operate in tunnels, though. However, to reduce the number of false alarms, the system is deactivated during the train’s passage, thanks to artificial intelligence’s ability to identify the presence of a train.

AI-RAIL provides a comprehensive range of options for sending detected events to external servers. With over 20 different mechanisms, including third-party VMS, standard protocols like HTTP, FTP, MODBUS, MQTT, and A.I.Tech proprietary protocols, the system ensures seamless event notification to a variety of platforms, including A.I. Tech dashboards.

AI-RAIL is one of the finalist on the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2024, on the Analytics and Software Innovation category.
