Greetings to all! Welcome to the twelfth edition of NASS TALK newsletter. We’ve had plenty of success stories since the previous issue! We were rightly represented during all the major events held in Bahrain, including Bahrain International Garden Show, and Gulf Industry Fair (page 4-6). We have been stepping up to the plate on the international scale as well; the Public Works Authority of Qatar has contracted Nass Group for an important construction project, while the Nass Scafform in UAE was granted a prestigious Bureau Veritas accreditation. (Page 7) For this edition’s featured project, we chose the Al Yamama Nass Contracting joint venture, which has been involved in a key government-led development in Bahrain (page 9). We also present the Nass Commercial, a division of Nass Corporation, in a dedicated article on (page 8). On a more serious note, we have recently suffered the loss of an extraordinary friend and exemplary employee, Mr Ahmed Al-Attar. On behalf of all employees of Nass Group, I would like to convey our sincere condolences to his family and friends. May Allah rest his soul in peace!

Flying the NASS Flag at Premiere Industrial Expo Nass Marine Services, Abrasive Technology Industries, Nass Commercial, and Nass Industrial Services, also known as Nass Mechanical Contracting, were selected to fly the NASS flag at the Gulf Industry Fair 2015 (GIF), which took place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from February 3 to 5. “Nass Corporation’s presence provided GIF visitors with the opportunity to take advantage of its expertise. We are proud that one of Bahrain’s major corporate success stories sees value in taking part in the fair,” commented Jubran Abdulrahman, Managing Director of HCE, the exhibition organisers.

Growing Green at BIGS 2015 Nass Landscapes proudly partook in the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2015, an ambitious initiative with the aim of boosting the Agricultural Development sector in the kingdom, by presenting their wide range of gardening- and landscaping-related products and services. The company was also involved in the design and construction of the Ministry of Social Development stand, in close cooperation with the ministry, to showcase the excellent work they do - and it secured the second place in Hall 2, Special Displays category.The annual expo was held from March 25 to April 1 at the Bahrain International Convention & Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.
NASS Hospitality Extended to Chinese Delegation Nass Procurement and Logistics welcomed delegates from Chinabased Shandong Hi-Speed Group, who arrived in Bahrain on March 10. Spotlight on Bahraini Tolerance A.A. Nass & Sons and Sarens Nass joined forces donating funds to sponsor over 200 members from 40 Bahraini organisations, who represented kingdom’s multicultural society during the exhibition and conference held at the Bo Zar Gallery Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium. Arranged on January 28 by Bahrain Federation of Expatriate Associations, the event marked the celebration of the birthday of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and included a gala dinner and a documentary highlighting the progress made since His Majesty’s accession. The initiative was designed to promote Bahrain’s religious tolerance and culture of peaceful co-existence, and Nass Group and Sarens NV played a starring role as the leading success story of Bahraini-Belgian business relations.
Exclusive Package from Batelco A new contract was signed between Nass Group and Batelco, securing attractive smartphone packages for NASS, including free local internet access, unlimited calls to any Batelco number, and free calls to other providers. The signing was executed on March 8, by Nass Procurement & Logistics General Manger David Mckay and Batelco Head of Key Account Division Kamal Jamal, and overlooked by Nass Group Supply Chain Manager Abdulrahman Taqi and Batelco Account Manager Atif Isa.
Deep-Rooted Japan Ties Hailed HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa officially opened the GPIC-funded Bahrain-Japan Friendship Park, during a ceremony held on February 18. The project was designed and constructed by Nass Landscapes, a sub-division of Nass Contracting Co., as part of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development’s drive to expand green spaces.
Shareholders Approve 15% Cash Dividend The Nass Corporation shareholders approved 15 per cent cash dividend for 2014, which was announced on March 19, during the company’s annual ordinary general meeting at Abdulla Nass Auditorium of Applied Science University. The company will pay a cash dividend at 15 per cent of paid up capital amounting to BD 3.226 million on its BD 215.077 million shares (excluding treasury shares of BD 4.923 million), held by the shareholders whose names appear in the register of members of the company on the record date (AGM date).

KSA: Kaizen at ATI Dammam Plant Seminar Held on High-tech Solutions Nass Commercial organised a regional technical seminar, in cooperation with Belgium-based Low & Bonar. Held on March 19 at the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain, the forum aimed to familiarise the participants with the technical specification of the product along with its advantages, and provided the opportunity to exchange views on the application of this technical fabric in the region. The seminar was attended by participants from the ministries, consulting engineers, and contractors, as well as technical staff from construction companies in Saudi Arabia. Bonar Natpet Geosynthetics is a newly born joint venture of Bonar Technical Fabrics and NATPET in Saudi Arabia, and Nass Commercial is the authorised agent for the Bonar Technical Fabrics in Bahrain since 2009.
Getting Students on Career Fast Track In support of the annual job fair, organised by the Applied Science University, Nass Corporation installed a booth at the university campus in East Eker. Held on March 18, the event brought under one roof several organisations from various sectors, including governmental, nongovernmental, private, and international institutions, together with highly competitive and professional job seekers. The initiative has been launched with the aim of motivating the students in their pursuit of career, and providing them with suitable opportunities.
Kaizen refers to the art of continuous improvement, which remains a constant at the Abrasive Technology Industries (ATI) Dammam plant. While the regular ten-minute interactions between the workmen and the support team members have proven to be a source of motivational platform for sharing ideas, the rejection percentage has come down by 30 per cent, and the productivity is on an increasing trend – supported by a lucrative incentive scheme. On the external front, ATI supplies are making their way into the European markets, a new product ‘Flap Disc’ will be introduced by 2015 mid-year, and the abrasive products range is planned to expand.
UAE: Prestigious Bureau Veritas Accreditation for Nass Scafform Abu Dhabi-based Nass Scafform Services’ management system has been certified by a global leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), Bureau Veritas, to be in accordance with the requirements of the management system standards (ISO 9001:2008). The scope of certification, issued on February 4, 2015, covers the supply, erection, and dismantling of scaffold and formwork.
Qatar: Ashghal Contract Awarded to Nass Group The Public Works Authority of Qatar – Ashghal has contracted Nass Group for the construction of a new pumping station PS16N and interceptor sewer. The project will be carried out between January 21, 2015 and January 19, 2017, in consultation with COWI A/S. Estimated at QAR 202,970,970.83, the works will also comprise construction of the interceptor sewer, associated facilities and rising mains, refurbishment of the existing pumping station PS16, demolition of the existing pumping stations PS2, PS7, and PS8, and area sewerage upgrade.

Nass Contracting has joined forces with a Saudi-based multi corporation Al Yamama for a major government-led project in Bahrain – as part of the Ministry of Works’ Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway expansion plans. The joint venture has embarked on the phase 5 of the BD 7,466,985 worth development project, which includes the Interchange 2 and a 1.5 kilometre link between roundabouts 18.1 to 13 in Hamad Town.
The north-bound traffic carriageway will carry the east-bound traffic from Shaikh Hamad Avenue – leading to roundabout 18 in Hamad Town – to Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway (SKBSH), in the northern direction. The south-bound carriageway, with a trumpet configuration, will cater to road users coming from north to SKBSH, providing an access to Hamad Town via Shaikh Hamad Avenue, in the west-bound direction.
The overall width of the main bridge will be 24.2 metres, and all carriageways feature two traffic lanes, 3.75 metres wide each, and shoulders measuring 1.10 metres on the left side and 2.4 metres on the right side. The ramps will be of mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) wall construction.
Link Road
A 1.5 kilometre road linking roundabouts 13 and 18.1 in Hamad Town involves construction of a two-lane dual carriageway within available 30 metre wide corridor, with the major elements including earthworks, drainage, footpaths, asphalt paving, pavement markings, and street lighting.
The Flyover
The grade separated Interchange 2 comprises of construction of one bridge structure that will include a dual carriageway for incoming and outgoing north- and south-bound traffic.

At which point did you join in? I’ve been with AGN since August 1999. Over the years, how has the company’s role evolved in the local and international trading and contracting sectors? It started as a small trading firm. We tied up with a few renowned manufacturers, such as ESAB, Club Car from USA, and Street Crane Company from UK, and with our dedicated efforts, the trading division grew rapidly. We specialise in catering to the needs of the oil and gas sector and have been quite successful. In 1995, AGN started its contracting division along with A.A. Nass Group, and secured a major construction project for Equate Polyethlene plant, from Snamprogetti (now called Saipem), which was valued at USD 37 million. This was our big break. It helped us in prequalifying for Kuwait Oil Company and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), both of which became our long-term clients. We also did a lot of work for international companies, such as Hyundai, SK Engineering, and the US army, to name just a few. When we opened the rental division for heavy lift cranes, we did some critical heavy lift work and supplied barges, tugboats, cranes, and electrical generators for KNPC oil pier project – and, subsequently, to several other projects. How did you utilise the corporate experience of the Nass Group, your parent company, in the process? Our group founder, the late Mr Abdulla Ahmed Nass, had set very high standards and was a role model to his staff. Through him and his group, we learnt to be more proactive and to offer dedicated customer service, which is our signature marketing tool. Can you tell us about some of your major projects completed over the past years? Among others, there was the USD 3 million contract for supply of ESAB welding products to the local pipe mill; supply and installation of electrical generators and A/C units to the US army camps in Kuwait and Iraq; and, currently, we are supplying ESAB welding products to GS Engineering Korea for their KNPC project, for which our scope is valued at USD 1 million. We have recently sold five special models of Club Cars to Kuwait Oil Company, tailor made to their requirement. What scope of services does AGN – Commercial Division offer? We supply all types of welding products from ESAB, overhead cranes from UK-based Street Crane Company, material handling equipment from Sennebogen in Germany, and battery operated cars from Club Car. What lies ahead of AGN? We are about to embark on several major projects, worth billions of dollars, for the oil and gas sector. We have a great potential for growth; negotiations are ongoing with international companies, and our group companies are also making inroads into the market.

Aala’a joined the Media and PR Department in March 29, 2015. She is responsible for managing the distribution and tracking of Arabic press releases, and helping the team manage internal communication, handling incoming media requests, and coordinating media-related events. She was previously employed at Nass Asphalt since 2009, where she worked as a member in the Administration and HR Department, and assistant to the division’s general manager. A holder of bachelor’s degree in business administration, she is currently studying MBA at Ahlia University.

Before joining Nass family, he worked for a number of leading companies, such as Nuberg Engineering Ltd, Descon Engineering Ltd, Simplex Infrastructures Ltd, and Lahoud Engineering Company Ltd, among others.

Mr Basu is a master’s degree holder in mechanical/industrial metallurgical engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology. He has over seven years’ engineering design experience in mechanical equipment and piping disciplines and has worked in various sectors, such as oil and gas, petrochemical, power, water distribution, chemical, cement, and mineral beneficiation.

We have been greatly saddened by the untimely passing away of Mr Ahmed AlAttar. Each of us grieves at the loss of a tremendous individual and irreplaceable team member, whose expertise and dedication played a leading role in NASS’ many success stories. Nass Medal Made Possible by Generous Sponsors Over one hundred players entered the 12th Nass Medal competition, held at Awali Golf Club on March 20, as it offered a traditionally impressive prize pool, courtesy of the sponsors, Nass Contracting, their suppliers, and sub-contractors. The main prize presentation was followed by a charity raffle, beneficiaries being Dreena’s Charity and the Captain’s Charity. Unwon side prizes that were allocated for advanced golfing feats were also added to the charity raffle to encourage greater donations. In a fitting evening finale, the event’s Tournament Director Paul Beaumont was announced the winner of the main raffle prize. Abdulla Ahmed Nass & Sons sponsorship of the AA Nass Strokeplay competition dates back to the 1991-1992 season, and continued for eight consecutive seasons until 1998-1999. It had then resumed with the Nass Medal in the 2004-2005 season, and has carried on to date.

التحقت �آالء ب�إدارة الإعالم والعالقات العامة يف ٢٩مار�س ،٢٠١٥وهي م�س�ؤولة عن �إدارة التوزيع وتتبع البيانات ال�صحفية العربية وم�ساعدة فريق �إدارة االت�صاالت الداخلية والتعامل مع طلبات الإعالم الواردة وتن�سيق الفعاليات ذات ال�صلة بالإعالم. االن�سة �آالء كانت موظفة �سابقة يف �شركة نا�س للأ�سفلت منذ عام ٢٠٠٩؛ حيث عملت كع�ضو يف الإدارة وق�سم املوارد الب�شرية ،وم�ساعدة مدير الق�سم العام؛ وهي حتمل درجة البكالوريو�س يف �إدارة الأعمال وتدر�س حاليا املاج�ستري يف �إدارة الأعمال يف اجلامعة الأهلية.

المشروع المشترك بين شركة اليمامة وشركة ناس للمقاوالت لصالح وزارة األشغال ،البحرين

وحدت �شركة نا�س للمقاوالت جهودها مع �شركة اليمامة ومقرها اململكة العربية ال�سعودية من �أجل تنفيذ م�شروع حكومي رئي�سي كجزء من خطط وزارة الأ�شغال ،لتو�سعة ��ش��ارع ال�شيخ خليفة ب��ن �سلمان ،وي�شمل ه��ذا امل�شروع امل�شرتك خم�س مراحل تطويرية بقيمة 7,466,985دينار بحريني ويت�ضمن �إن�شاء التقاطع الثاين بطول 1.5كلم والذي يربط بني دوار 13ودوار 18مبدينة حمد.

ن��ال نظام �إدارة خدمات نا�س لل�سقاالت ومقره �أبوظبي �شهادة م�صادقة من قبل ال�شركة العاملية ال��رائ��دة يف الك�شف والتحليل وامل��راق�ب��ة ومنح �شهادات امل�صادقة (“ )TICبريو فيتا�س” ليكون متوافقا مع متطلبات معايري نظم الإدارة (الآيزو ،)9001:2008وي�شمل نطاق �شهادة امل�صادقة التي �أ�صدرت يف الرابع من فرباير ٢٠١٥توريد وتركيب وتفكيك ال�سقاالت والقوالب الهيكلية.
دولة قطر :أشغال تتعاقد مع مجموعة ناس
تعاقدت هيئة الأ�شغال العامة يف قطر “�أ�شغال” مع جمموعة نا�س لبناء حمطة ال�ضخ وال�صرف ال�صحي ،PS16Nو�سيتم تنفيذ امل�شروع يف الفرتة من ٢١يناير � ٢٠١٥إىل ١٩يناير ٢٠١٧بالت�شاور مع �شركة COWI .A/S و�سي�ضم امل�شروع ال��ذي تبلغ تكلفته 202,970,970.83ري��ال قطري �إن�شاء جماري ال�صرف ال�صحي واملرافق املرتبطة بها وحمطات التقوية الكهربائية وجتديد حمطة ال�ضخ PS16املوجودة حاليا ،وهدم حمطات ال�ضخ PS2و PS7و ،PS8ورفع م�ستوى ال�صرف ال�صحي يف املنطقة.

اإلشادة بعمق العالقات البحرينية اليابانية
افتتحت �صاحبة ال�سمو امللكي الأم�يرة �سبيكة بنت �إبراهيم �آل خليفة ر�سميا حديقة ال� ��� �ص ��داق ��ة ال �ب �ح��ري �ن �ي��ة ال �ي ��اب ��ان �ي ��ة ال �ت��ي تكفلت بنفقاتها ��ش��رك��ة اخل�ل�ي��ج ل�صناعة البرتوكيماويات (جيبيك) خالل حفل �أقيم بهذه املنا�سبة يف ١٨فرباير؛ وقد تولت �شركة نا�س للم�ساحات اخل���ض��راء؛ �إح ��دى �أق�سام �شركة نا�س للمقاوالت ،الأعمال الت�صميمية والإن �� �ش��ائ �ي��ة للحديقة ك �ج��زء م��ن امل �ب��ادرة الوطنية للتنمية الزراعية ال�ساعية �إىل تو�سيع الرقعة اخل�ضراء.
المساهمون يوافقون على توزيع أرباح نقدية بنسبة ٪١٥
وافقت اجلمعية العامة ل�شركة نا�س امل�ؤ�س�سة ،على توزيع �أرباح نقدية على امل�ساهمني بن�سبة 15يف املئة عن العام 2014؛ وقد مت �إعالن ذلك يف ١٩مار�س؛ خالل االجتماع ال�سنوي للجمعية العامة للم�ساهمني الذي عقد يف قاعة عبداهلل نا�س يف جامعة العلوم التطبيقية. و�ستقوم ال�شركة بتوزيع �أرباح نقدية على امل�ساهمني بن�سبة ٪15من ر�أ�س املال املدفوع، مببلغ 3.226ماليني دينار ،وذلك عن الأ�سهم البالغ عددها 215.077مليون �سهم (وذلك بعد ا�ستبعاد �أ�سهم اخلزينة البالغة 4.923ماليني �سهم) واململوكة للم�ساهمني املبينة �أ�سما�ؤهم يف �سجل امل�ساهمني يف تاريخ االنعقاد.
