Q: What is virtual networking and why should I participate in it? A: PSC is offering virtual networking as a way to help replicate one-on-one and small group, personal interactions in the current Covid/Virtual Environment. We hope to humanize the online experience by allowing users to mingle in a virtual conference space and meet with conference attendees using video chats. Q: What is Remo? A: Remo is the virtual networking platform PSC is using for our virtual networking receptions this year. It is designed to replicate a virtual conference space. The goal of Remo is to humanize the online experience by allowing users to “sit” at small scale “tables” for as long as you wish with someone or a group of people, before leaving to join another table. Table sizes vary from two person “high tops” to a max of 6 people at a table. This virtual environment can hold up to 200 attendees. You can talk to whoever you want, whenever you want with access to your webcam, microphone, screen sharing and several other useful capabilities. Q: What browsers does Remo work on? A: On Mac and Windows 10 desktops and laptops, we recommend using Chrome to launch Remo.
Q: What devices does Remo work on? A: Remo works on desktops, laptops and cell phones. Tablets are not supported at this time. On desktops and laptops, Remo is compatible with macOS and Windows 10. On Smartphones, Remo is compatible with iOS and android. Q: How do I join a Remo event? Step 1: Check your email for the event invite and click the button “Accept Invitation”. Once you navigate to the registration page, click “Sign in to join event!” (alternatively, if PSC sends you the event URL directly, you can click that). Step 2: Log into your account If you have never joined a Remo Event before, you will be prompted to Create an account. Please make sure that you use the email address that the host used to invite you. If you have joined a previous Remo event, you will be prompted to log into your Remo account. Again, make sure to use the email address the host used to invite you to the Remo event. (visit pages 5-8 for visuals of what to expect when joining a Remo event).

Q: How do I move around in Remo? A: You will be randomly assigned to a table upon entering the platform, but you are free to move around as you please. To switch to a different table and conversation, just double click the table you want to move to, it’s that simple! Keep in mind that if you try to join a table that is full, you will receive a message stating that the table is full, and you will not be allowed in until space is made available.
When you join the event, you will automatically be assigned to a table. You can find other people by hovering over the circles at each table. Once you find a table you wish to join, double click on that table. Just remember, if all seats are taken you won’t be able to join until someone leaves
Q: How do I edit my Remo profile and add a profile picture? A: Go to the upper right corner of your window and click on the profile icon (should have your first initial). A drop-down menu appears, then you will click on “my profile”. Click on “Edit Profile” and you can fill in the fields as you wish. Once you’re done, make sure to click “Save Changes”. You can also add a profile picture! The more information you add to your profile, the easier it will be for someone to find you. Q: How do I switch to a different floor? A: You can navigate between floors using the elevator dial on the left side of your screen. Simply double click the floor that you want to jump to. To see how many guests are on a particular floor, hover your cursor over the floor button. Keep in mind that the elevator will only appear if PSC has set multiple floors (so don’t worry if you don’t see this feature, that simply means that the event is only being held on one floor.
Q: How does the chat function work? A: During Remo events, you can chat with others by clicking on the “chat button” in the menu on the bottom of your screen. You can select from three chat options: 1. General Chat: Visible to all guests 2. Table Chat: Visible to only members in your current table 3. Private Chat: Direct message to specific guests (you can search for the guest you want to privately message by using the search bar)
Q: Can I share my screen? A: Yes! You can share your screen with other guests at your table (as can the other attendees). To share your screen, click on the “Share Screen” button in the menu on the bottom of your screen (or press Alt + S). Select what you want to share (your entire screen, a specific application or an individual browser tab), and hit the blue “Share” button. To stop sharing, simply click that button again.
Q: How do I turn on/off my mic and camera? A: When you join the event your camera and mic are turned off by default. Click on the “Cam” and “Mic” buttons in the menu on the bottom of your screen. If the buttons are lit up green, that means the features are enabled. If they are grayed out, they are disabled.
Now that your camera is on, click “Tile View” to see larger webcam images of those at your table.
Click “Back to Floor” to return to viewing the tables full screen rather than the webcams of those at your current table. Back to Floor view allows you to see where other people are sitting, while remaining at your table.
Click and hold the floor plan and drag it from side to side to see all the seats. Zoom in and out on the floor plan using the wheel on your mouse
Q: What do I do if I need help/support during the Remo session? A: During your event, there will be at least one member of the PSC Staff labeled as “PSC Help Desk”. This person will be floating around the floors to ensure you’re all set. Always feel free to join them at a table if you have any questions! If at any point you cannot find the “PSC Help Desk”, you can contact the Remo support team but clicking the “need help” icon in the bottom left corner of your screen or email events@pscouncil.org. We look forward to networking with you!
