FFor so many in our Downriver community this past year has been a major challenge. But for those who have experienced the death of a friend or family member, sometimes under heart wrenching circumstances, it has been especially difficult. We are fortunate that Michigan Memorial Funeral Home is in a unique position to navigate people through the process of a loss.

Dan Dwyer, President and Owner of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home explains, “When we added the 8,500 square feet of gathering space in the fall of 2019, we had no idea that it would offer us the flexibility to hold larger, safer memorial services and safer, on-site cremations during this COVID pandemic.”

Michigan Memorial Funeral Home continues to deliver funeral services with the highest standards and integrity in the business. They have recently added a streaming option that allows extended groups of grieving people to witness a service virtually. Once everyone gets back to normal practices, Michigan Memorial can host up to 200 people in their new Chapel, or cater a 160-person, seated Celebration of Life gathering. As always, they have their special hearse options that include two antique horse-drawn hearses, the customized HarleyDavidson Motorcycle Hearse or their military-style Caisson, which is the same style used at Arlington National, for our Veterans. There is also a flower shop and merchandise gallery on site for convenience. When you drive up to their modern building you experience the thoughtful elegance that went into planning and building the 34,000 square foot building. And, when you walk in the door, you are greeted to the warm, immaculate interior space that is immediate;ly comforting and trustworthy. It seems as though Michigan Memorial Funeral Home has always been an integral part of the Downriver community, however, they are actually celebrating their 20th anniversary this summer. Michigan Memorial Park, right next door, also celebrates their 95th anniversary in October. “Even though we are individually owned and operated, Michigan Memorial Park and Michigan Memorial Funeral Home work in tandem to create the best, fitting tribute for your loved one,” says Kelly Dwyer, President of Michigan Memorial Park. Michigan Memorial has become a beacon for so many families that have lost a loved one, for any reason. “From the very beginning of the COVID crisis we never missed a beat. I am very proud of our professional staff who are unbelievably committed to serving those in our community,” explains Mr. Dwyer. •
