Mayor ,s Note
Happy Fall to you all! We hope everyone has had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable time spent with family, friends, and loved ones during our beautiful Summer. Whether you’ve been a resident for over 50 years or are just stopping into one of our fantastic shops or restaurants, we’re thrilled to welcome you to Trenton and hope you enjoy all there is to offer here including our parks, trails, riverfront, and greenspaces that are all the more beautiful in the Fall season.
As I mentioned in our last issue, our DPS has two exciting new endeavors that have really been a great benefit to the community already. Our administration has reversed the decade-old decision to outsource most grass cutting on City properties and the work is now predominantly being done by our own City employees. To say our parks have looked fantastic this year would be an understatement!
We’ve also begun bi-weekly curbside recycling collection. Our recycling committee made up of department heads, council members, and community volunteers did a fantastic job putting together FAQs and “dos and don’ts” materials to roll this out as seamlessly as possible. I’m thrilled we’re finally bringing this long overdue service to Trenton residents- with the work done by City employees at that.
Our series of summer events are well underway, with tens of thousands of people flocking to Downtown Trenton for the Summer Festival in late June and additionally the Sip, Shop, and Stroll put together by some of our businesses in the district in late July with plenty more to come. In the last couple of months alone, we’ve had a string of new businesses open up with restaurants like Maria’s Mexican Grill on West Road and Rivertown Saloon on West Jefferson and shops like Freckles and Grit or Love You Bunches and Bunches downtown as well, just to name a few. We hope you check out all of our wonderful small businesses while you’re out in the community (and be sure to enjoy the social district while you visit)!
We’re all disappointed that we couldn’t celebrate the Fourth of July together with a fireworks display, but the flooding and boardwalk issues at Rotary Park persisted to make it logistically unfeasible for us to pull off this past year. However, we do have money budgeted for a fireworks display next year already and are working on a plan that can alleviate some of the problems we have faced in years past.
While I wish we could provide more information now, I look forward to sharing more details in upcoming editions about other projects we have in the works that will help us build more communityoriented spaces along with streetscape improvements that will compliment some of the exciting new developments across Trenton.
As always, if there is ever anything we can do to be of any help, do not hesitate to call my office or send me an email. I look forward to seeing many of you very soon, but in the meantime make sure you enjoy all Trenton has to offer!

Recycling City of Trenton
After many years of work from residents and elected officials, the City of Trenton has kicked off their curbside recycling program. The program began the week of July 11, 2022 and is collected bi-weekly on every resident’s currently scheduled refuse collection day.
City Administrator Dean Creech has been instrumental in the launch of the program. “We have to stop looking at this as a mere expense, but as an investment in our city and future generations,” Creech said about the program.
The city was able to secure grants from both the State of Michigan Department of EGLE and The Recycling Partnership, which will cover the majority of the initial investment needed for recycling carts and a truck. The carts, which are the same size as the city-provided trash cans, were delivered to single family homes this summer along with information to help make recycling easier and more user-friendly for residents.
“We understand residents will have a lot of questions about recycling and hopefully the information is helpful. We also hosted an open house at the Westfield Center at the end of June for those who had additional questions,” City Councilman Nelson Perugi stated. City officials and members of the recycling committee were on hand to answer any questions residents may have had.
The initial recycling program will only service single family households, but the city hopes to add multi-family homes and businesses in the future. “Adding this service will require additional staffing to our department, but we are happy to have the ability to take care of this in-house,” says DPW Director Kevin Sargent. Retaining inhouse trash collection has been a priority throughout this process as the mayor and many members of council did not want to outsource this service.
To make sure this program is economically sustainable, an additional fee will be placed on residents’ water bills at a rate of $5.50 per month. Those who may be facing economic hardship and seniors over the age of 65 who are able to verify their ages at City Hall may receive a reduced rate of $3.00 per month. This fee will allow the city to keep the transfer station available to those who do not yet have curbside access.
Countless residents have expressed their overwhelming joy to see Trenton add this service to the community. They hope it will make Trenton a greener, and even more desirable place to live.
For more information residents can go to www.trentonmi.org
“WE HAVE TO STOP LOOKING AT THIS AS A MERE EXPENSE, BUT AS AN INVESTMENT IN OUR CITY AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.”

STARVING THE FAIRYTALE
Emily Copeland’s warning of culture’s construction of a divine self and the fairytale lie.
We’ve all seen the self-help books, or movies filled with self-obsessed mantras calling us to reflect or discover who we really are. Spoiler: It’s a dead end. Culture offers an enticingly unattainable goal of becoming ‘free’ through selflove. Planting seeds of over-glorification, leading to a less fulfilled life. Ultimately, we live a life stuck in front of a mirror; craving for selfdiscovery, continuously adding daily rituals to maintain rather than in the glorious freedom of Jesus Christ.
Emily Copeland exposes the dangers of self-idolization culture in her new book, “Starving the Fairytale.” Available on Amazon. Rallying us to truth through inspiring
chapters focused on discovering our Godgiven identity, not man-made, transformed by His power, not our own.
“God made it clear that this is a critical moment to help both Christian and non-christian women begin thinking about the cultural messages around them. They needed scripture to hold those messages up to the truth: Jesus is the Hero of their life story. Following Jesus leads to true, life-long, eternal freedom. I pray that every reader can see herself as the recipient of a life far more purposeful than a self-discovery journey, life in partnership with her Creator, the One who loves her more than she could ever love herself.” •
Starving the Fairytale: A New Model for Self-Discovery is available at Amazon.
Downriver Prayer Breakfast
Special event brings together Downriver in a celebration of blessings
EDIT BEN SNIDER PHOTOS COURTESY OF KATHY KANE
For the 35th year, the annual Downriver Prayer Breakfast will be nourishing bodies and souls Friday, December 2nd, 2022 beginning at 7:00 a.m. at Crystal Gardens in Southgate. The event was created by a group of men of faith from various walks of life and religions. The prayer breakfast generally draws a crowd of 800 to 1,000 or more together in a celebration of blessings through prayer, songs, and the inspiration of national speakers carrying us into the season of the Lord Jesus Christ. Speakers from past events have included Ernie Harwell, Gloria Gaither, authors, former spies, and mob bosses all recounting how their lives were changed by the word of God.
The origin is an inspirational story of a collaboration of boardroom adversaries that came together to form a non-denominational celebration of faith and prayer.
We share stories that motivate and inspire from Woodhaven and throughout Downriver

HELLO DOWNRIVER AND welcome to Camille’s Beauty Corner!
In the upcoming issues, Camille’s Beauty Corner will be highlighting all of my favorite beauty + anti-aging secrets! From skin myths to the skinny on Botox + fillers and everything in between.
My deep passion for the beauty industry began in New York City in 2004 when I opened my first medical spa and created my first skin care line, Camille of NY Cosmeceuticals.
For 18 years in NYC, I worked with actors and actresses who have won Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys and Tonys. I have made their skin glow to walk the red carpet, accept those coveted statues, and perform night after night under the Broadway lights. Some of my regulars needed healthy, beautiful skin to show up on the set of Blue Bloods, Law + Order, Sex and the City, Entourage, Nurse Jackie, and the list goes on!
After moving back to my hometown in March of 2020, (perfect timing right?) I couldn’t wait to bring NYC to Downriver!

Mister Nick’s A fixture in Trenton since its founding in 1988
M Mister Nick’s, serving steak, seafood, pasta, and more, has been a fixture in Trenton since its founding in 1988. However, its ownership changed in January 2019 when local residents Rob and Rosanne Bruner purchased the beloved eating establishment.
Regrettably, 13 months later the pandemic hit the restaurant industry hard. Despite facing tumultuous times, Mister Nick’s survived thanks to the loyalty of locals.
“Being a part of this great community is very important to Rosanne and me,” Rob said.
“Throughout the pandemic, we received overwhelming support from the community, and that support will never be forgotten.”

No Sugar Momma fights sweet tooth with low-carb treats
M The family-owned Trenton based bakery, No Sugar Momma, offers sugar-free, gluten-free snacks, providing locals with a healthy way to satisfy their cravings.
One of No Sugar Momma’s owners, Jennifer Sherbrook, eliminated sugar from her diet four years ago. This lifestyle change inspired Sherbrook to establish a sugar-free, gluten-free bakery because she couldn’t find another one anywhere in the area.
“We are excited to offer people who are diabetic, keto, or just trying to stick to a healthier lifestyle with an option to buy tasty, low-carb treats,” Sherbrook said, adding that she started the venture by baking goods in her house and selling them online and at farmers' markets.
No Sugar Momma is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, its hours of operation are from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m.

“I started doing small bouquets at All About Grace when we first started last year and then I used to get my eucalyptus bundles from Old’s Flower Shop on West Road, but when he passed away, I kind of just decided to take on the whole flower shop thing myself,” explained Young. “Flowers are something that there is always a need for.”

that will provide face-to-face interactions with the customers. She enjoys seeing people on the store floor at the succulent bar interacting with the staff and just wants to encourage more of that.
Currently, Love You Bunches & Bunches is setting up at the Trenton Farmers Market (throughout this Fall) and also traveling with their bouquet wall, “We do events like showers and occasions where you can give flower bouquets out as gifts. We’ve done a couple of recitals and we have a play that we just did in August where we sold bouquets at the theater. It’s nice getting out and doing these different events,” Young enthusiastically shared.
The city of Trenton is thriving again and Young says she’s happy to be in the area, “The biggest move I’ve made was moving the other shop downtown during COVID into a bigger building in hopes that things would start to pick up. I feel like now we’re actually getting there. The city is coming together and things are really getting good down here!”

The Offices of Trenton
Offering professional, flexible work space without the burden of big overhead expenses and long term leases – fitting the needs of your business today, and as it grows
BY TRACY HECK
The Offices in Wyandotte, with two locations in Downtown Wyandotte, has been so successful that a third location was recently opened in Downtown Trenton. Serving the community with a professional work environment, complete with private and shared offices, conference rooms, and stylish work spaces, The Offices of Trenton has the space that fits the needs of your business today, and as you continue to grow.
The flexible work space means that there is not the burden of overhead expenses or long-term leases - and members have full access to the facilities at all three locations.
Builder/developer Ron Thomas was originally looking for office space for himself, something that would also have great amenities. He wasn’t looking to lease an entire building and believed that other businesses were too. Thus, The Offices concept was developed.
The Offices philosophy is ‘your place of work should be a place where you want to go everyday’. Thomas shares that he chose the cities of Wyandotte and Trenton for their vibrant downtowns. “Much like Wyandotte, Trenton has a good core downtown supported by the local community, that I thought made it appealing to businesses. I wouldn’t situate these share-space office complexes off the beaten path. I felt it was important to have a nice atmosphere - a place you want to be.”
Looking ahead, Thomas says that they’ll be adding on a drive-thru coffee shop at the new Trenton location. ◆

Busen,s Appliance
Busen’s Appliance is a family owned, one-stop shop for appliances, service, and parts that brings with it great customer service
EDIT SUNDRA HILSINGER // PHOTO JANE FIJAL
Tim Busen, Busen’s Appliance owner, maintains a business rich in history while upholding a high standard for small family-owned businesses everywhere to emulate.
With a staff of factorytrained service techs, wellexperienced sales associates, and excellent delivery drivers on hand six daysa-week, one can count on Busen’s Appliance.
TRENTON PROFILE For those feeling overwhelmed when choosing a new appliance, where do you recommend they start?
TIM BUSEN Busen’s Appliance would recommend coming into our store in Lincoln Park, and talking with one of our sales associates. Our sales staff can fit them into an appliance that best suits their needs for everyday use. We also offer extended warranties on new appliance sales if the customer chooses.
TRENTON PROFILE How does Busen’s compare to local competition?
TIM BUSEN We can offer our customers so much more than other competitors. Our sales staff is very experienced with all the current and new models coming out. We are a full sales and service dealer unlike big box stores that typically only sell you an appliance. We do not subcontract work out meaning that all services provided are done by Busen’s Appliance employees. Professional installations are done by our own crew. We provide in-home professional appliance repairs by our expert technicians. We also provide over the counter parts for do-it-yourself customers.
TRENTON PROFILE How are you helping customers navigate inventory issues?
TIM BUSEN Inventory is a real struggle in our market. It has been getting a lot better over the last few months and is looking to improve over the next few months. Our sales team will inform customers on what appliances are currently available to order or what we have in stock. Giving the customers many options based on their situation.
TRENTON PROFILE How does financing work at Busen’s?
TIM BUSEN We offer 0% for 12 months. It’s an easy application that can be completed on our website busensappliance.com or done in the store.
TRENTON PROFILE What other ways do you help customers save? (Promotions, rebates, reconditioned appliances, repair?)
TIM BUSEN Manufacturers offer many rebates throughout the year that customers can take advantage of. We do offer reconditioned appliances but selection is limited and our offerings change week by week, but it is a great solution if saving money is your goal!
Its safe to say that this family-owned business will continue to bring amazing service to the community for generations to come, and you can find them on the same street they have been on since 1937! ◆

ce Kitchen, Bath & Flooring has been helping Downriver residents with their flooring installation and kitchen/bathroom remodeling needs since its founding in June 2016. Trenton resident, Brandon Cowan was inspired to launch the Trentonbased renovation company shortly after becoming a victim of contractor theft.
“I started this company after two remod-
elers walked out on me and stole my money while I was having my bathroom remodeled,” Cowan said. “When that happened, I wanted to take action and, as a businessman, I saw an opportunity to start my own business after meeting with my licensed builder.”
Cowan vowed to run an honorable business that gives back to the community after formally opening Ace Kitchen, Bath & Flooring.

“We offer the best deals to customers that purchase material and labor in advance,” says Cowan. “Our material purchase discount includes active military, first responders, police officers and Veterans.”
“We’ve put our profit into feeding hospital staff at Beaumont in Trenton; supplied meals for Trenton, Riverview, Woodhaven, and Grosse Ile police and fire stations,” says Cowan. “We also provided meals for local stores like CVS, the entire Home Depot store in Woodhaven, local gas stations, and other local businesses during the Covid shutdowns. And we’ve partnered with Si Senior in Riverview.”
Cowan’s efforts have paid dividends, and locals frequently praise Ace Kitchen, Bath & Flooring as one of the premier kitchen and bath remodeling companies in the Downriver area.

Boston Frogman Swim
Local residents join to participate in the 4th Annual Boston Frogman Swim
EDIT BRENDA BATTEL
Two Downriver natives have been swimming hard to raise money in remembrance of fallen Navy Seals.
Teammates Ashlie Mooney of Allen Park and P.J. Ramsey of Grosse Ile swam in the 4th Annual Boston Frogman Swim and raised $17,003 to honor two Navy Seals who died in the 2012 Benghazi attacks.
The 5K swim was in Boston Harbor June 12, 2022, and most of their training happened in the Detroit River. The event raised $100,000 for the Navy Seal Foundation.
Ramsey, a former Navy Seal, swam for his friend, Tyrone Woods. Mooney participated in honor of Glen Doherty, a friend of Woods.
The foundation offers programs for Navy Seal veterans exiting service that help them reacclimate to society. Job support and mental and physical health assistance programs are available. The foundation also serves Gold Star families who lost husbands and fathers.
Gold Star wives and former Navy Seals also swam in the event to honor lost loved ones. Each of the 67 swimmers represented a fallen Navy Seal.
“It’s fascinating what these families and what these guys go through,” Mooney said. “Even though they’re a really hush-hush community about what they do, it’s nice to have that support.”
Mooney and Ramsey started pool training this winter and moved to open water in the Detroit River off Grosse Ile when the weather warmed.
“(Ramsey) got in the water the last weekend in April in the Grosse Ile Canal,” Mooney

said. The water temperature was 44 degrees. “I did not join him. He’s crazy.” Mooney braved the open water in mid May off East River Road when the water temperature was in the 50s.
“We both geared up in wetsuits, wetsuit gloves and socks. It was still really cold. It was all part of it, challenging yourself. It was all paying homage to the Navy Seals who do that every day in cold water (for training and combat).”
Mooney and Ramsey plan to participate in the 5K swim again next year.
Mooney owns and operates The Framery and Gallery in Trenton with her sister, Shelby. They recently took over for their grandfather Larry (Frank) Pettinga, who opened the framing shop and art gallery 45 years ago. ◆

Emerging artist found his passion transforming logs into beautiful bowls
EDIT TYLER STEWART PHOTOS JANE FIJAL
Steve Krupa, an auto plant supervisor and aspiring artist living in the Downriver area, specializes in crafting various pieces out of wood, such as bowls and candle holders, using a process known as woodturning.
Woodturning, as Krupa explains, involves spinning wood on a tool called a lathe, and whittling, carving, sanding, and sculpting the wood to a desired shape. That shape has been at the forefront of his mind, he says.
What started as a passing interest in high school has turned into a full-on passion project for the Downriver native. “Every single one of my bowls is unique,” Krupa explains, “I don’t mass produce anything.” He plans to retire soon and dedicate his time to his woodturning passion, and share it with those around him. “It’s just so relaxing to me.”
Krupa’s work can be found on the Facebook group: Woodturners, where he regularly receives high praise for his craftsmanship. He plans to retire shortly from his career and fully immerse himself in his passion.
Steve Krupa lives in Trenton with his wife, Nicole, and their daughter, Madelyne. They also have two grown daughters, Stephanie and Genevieve.

Cousino Moyer Retirement Group prospers Downriver
Words COLIN LINNEWEBER
B 36 | TRENTON PROFILE • Summer/Fall 2022 SPECIAL SPONSORED CONTENT YourMoney
‘‘The best way to predict your future is to create it,” Abraham Lincoln once said. The leaders of Brownstown Township based Cousino Moyer Retirement Group, Todd Cousino and Chuck Moyer have been helping clients across Downriver create better financial futures since they started their careers - Todd 27 years ago, Chuck 38 years ago.
Under their direction, Cousino Moyer Retirement Group, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC, has earned acclaim for the personal financial advice it offers. Among accolades, it won the Ameriprise Client Experience Award in 2021 and clinched Ameriprise Circle of Success honors from 2018 through 2021.
“We have the full support of a company ranked 253 on the list of Fortune 500 companies, yet we operate our practice as a boutique Downriver financial planning company, focusing on individual client needs and making our clients and their families our top priority,” said Cousino, who began working as a financial advisor in 1995 and became managing director for Cousino Moyer Retirement Group in July 2017.
Moyer agreed with Cousino and noted that their unique and divergent skill sets have also played instrumental roles in the group’s success.
“I joined Todd in 2020,” said Moyer, a financial advisor, and an accredited portfolio management advisor. “His skills in financial planning and my longstanding experiences working with equities, options, municipal bonds, and alternative se-
curities seemed destined to make us a good team, and sure enough, we’ve really complemented each other’s skill set.”
An early start
“When I was 15, I listened to a meeting my parents had with their financial advisor and realized that I wanted to work in the financial industry,” said Cousino, who graduated magna cum laude from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and now holds the Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor designation.
“We operate our practice as a boutique Downriver financial planning company”
“It taught me that unless financial planning is your full-time career, you are likely missing out on opportunities for yourself and your family. This meeting made me understand that I could be in a position to help people feel truly confident about their financial futures.”
Future goals
Over the years, Cousino Moyer Retirement Group has expanded and now consists of three financial advisors, Cousino, Moyer, and Kimberlyn Schattler. It also includes two registered client service associates, Nick Hawk and Terri Rowe. Despite its achievements and growth, the group refuses to become complacent and constantly seeks to improve its services and clients’ experiences.
“We have formed a client advisory board, which is a group of clients who serve a one-year term before another group is selected to serve a one-year term,”
Moyer said. “We meet quarterly with them because we strive to continue to better understand our clients as individuals and recognize their needs. We utilize their input to ensure that we better serve them and our existing clients in the future.”
A plan for every stage
It’s never too early to begin planning for retirement, but as that day approaches, advice from friends, family, and internet searches can overwhelm and confuse.
From pensions and social security to investments and taxes, the experts at the Cousino Moyer Retirement Group can help navigate the intricacies of any individual’s unique position so they can feel confident in their tailor made plan.
To ensure a comfortable and even thriving post-work life, periodically revisit your plan with an advisor to ensure the best is made of recent changes in investing practices or tax codes. You’re meant to enjoy your retirement, and the Cousino Moyer Retirement Group is ready to help you exceed your expectations. n
To contact the Cousino Moyer Retirement Group, call 877-2-RETIRE or email Cousino at todd.cousino@ampf.com or Moyer at chuck.moyer@ampf.com

The Ameriprise Client Experience Award is earned by a practice based on three measurable statistics that reflect the value of goal-based advice to our clients: client experience rating; percentage of clients over a certain asset level in advice relationships; and, once the practice has exceeded a minimum amount of net flows, the percentage of net flows derived from assets under management. Pandemic recovery favors large businesses
A RECENT GOLDMAN Sachs
survey of small business owners from 48 U.S. states and two U.S. territories revealed that business efforts towards pandemic recovery are like “a tale of two recoveries,” in which big businesses continue to receive far more opportunities and resources, while small businesses suffer.
The article and survey point out how issues around inflation, workforce, supply chain, and energy costs are “going from bad to worse” with small businesses “struggling to compete with larger companies and suffering setbacks.”
A true port in Michigan’s economic storm, the Oak Park, Michigan TradeFirst.com has guided small businesses for 44 years towards becoming stronger and competing in today’s challenging economic climate. As a beacon of light during both good and trying times, TradeFirst.com offers small businesses the opportunity for cash-free purchases of products and services. Thus, when Michigan’s small busi-
nesses choose trade dollars, they preserve needed cash.
“Michigan’s economic recovery sadly has favored big business, and Michigan’s small businesses are being squeezed,” said TradeFirst.com founder, Fred Detwiler, who more than 4½ decades ago, envisioned and developed an organization that leveraged the concept of alternate currency to protect and support Michigan’s small businesses. And this was decades before cryptocurrencies!
“Big businesses have been protected by bailouts, while entrepreneurs rely on their heart, intelligence, hard work, and faith,” said Fred, who likens other benefits of a trade network to a chamber as members connect and support each other.
In 1978, Fred’s vision, courage, and fortitude led him to form a very atypical company, which has since helped many thousands of businesses throughout Michigan. For years, and also
through the pandemic, Fred and his staff have guided Michigan’s business community towards leveraging trade… and saving hundreds of millions of dollars.
“The trade philosophy is in alignment with the mindset of entrepreneurs, who do not leave money on the table” said Fred, who refers to thousands of Michigan’s small businesses who use trade to fill excess capacity, pay for goods and services using trade dollars, and do not touch cash for these products/services, and invest or direct cash dollars elsewhere.
“I’m incredibly proud of our community,” John says. “We want people to call if they have questions, that’s what we're here for. We should be the first choice that people think about calling when they need help.” n

veryone knows great art comes with authenticity, should food be any different? When you want barbecue, you look for that same authenticity.
The combination of slow smoked meats and homemade sides make Round House BBQ artistry on your plate – you know it’s the real deal when you get slow smoked barbecue.
ike many businesses in the last few years, Sibley Gardens in Trenton has had to look at outdoor dining options and, weather permitting, they still have those options available.
Whether you want to sit and enjoy the peaceful outdoors on your own, a large group, or if you’ve brought your dog along, Sibley Gardens offers a first-come first-serve al fresco option.
Traditionally, al fresco dining areas look out on a busy main street or at other business, but Sibley Gardens, who specialize in coziness, had to use what was around them to continue that feeling outdoors. Situated in a spot that allows for viewing of nearby trains, Sibley Gardens’ outdoor area is ideal for a little extra tranquility and fresh air to go with their signature Steak Sammy and Spanish Coffee.

PERDINO'S PERDINO'S
ister Nick’s in Trenton makes an effort to keep their menu and atmosphere simple, delicious and downto-earth. They have an emphasis on keeping everything lowkey and old school, especially in the case of their signature dish: perch dinner.
erdino’s of Grosse Ile may specialize in steaks, chops and seafood, but the hidden gem on their simple but choice-filled menu is the one dish that bears the restaurant’s name – Chicken Perdino.
When you’ve been seated, and after you order a couple craft cocktails and some starters, you’d be doing yourself a favor to select the Chicken Perdino next. It’s a fresh chicken breast which is julienned
and sautéed with fresh mushrooms and chicken broth, then flambéed with sherry wine, punctuated with fresh lemon, and finished with Perdino’s own special house garlic butter.
Select a nice dry white wine to go with the Chicken Perdino and you’ll find yourself lost in the comfort of the dining area itself, which is both elegant and homey – a little class to add to an already perfect meal. •
Perdino’s is located on Grosse Ile at 8575 Macomb St.
The perch dinner comes either broiled, sautéed, blackened or lightly battered, and their bar serves old-school cocktails that you can pair perfectly with it. The fish itself is sourced from a local supplier, too – Weyand Fisheries, Inc has been around since the 20s, and Nick’s prides itself on working with local businesses to make their signature dish an instant classic.
Their menu is replete with simple, delicious options, including sides that will perfectly balance out their signature perch dinner, and if you have little ones with you, their kids’ menu and non-alcoholic beverage selection makes for a perfect family experience. •
