Dear Friends,
I hope everyone is doing well and has enjoyed their summer.
I want to take this opportunity to discuss the issues that keep coming to my attention.
The City of Woodhaven puts out a magazine titled “Woodhaven Profile.” In our ‘official publication’ magazine, we highlight events and programs that involve the City of Woodhaven. Another company puts out a magazine called “Woodhaven Today.” In that magazine, they highlight happenings and events that occur in Brownstown Twp. and other surrounding communities. That magazine is not endorsed by the City of Woodhaven, nor do we have any financial involvement with it. Unfortunately, the names being similar has caused confusion among our residents.
In regard to the grade separation (the underpass at Allen road), to our knowledge that project is still a go. It is under the direction of Wayne County and at this point, we are waiting on them to begin the project. We are in contact with them and will continue to be. Just as all of you are anxious for the long awaited project to begin, so are we but our hands are tied until they work through all of the engineering red tape, along with permits and permission from various entities involved in such a massive undertaking.
I have seen many complaints about GFL, the company that picks up our trash. The major complaint being that the truck leaks fluid. We have addressed it with the company and they are saying that they are working on improving their equipment and service. Their contract with the City of Woodhaven will end in October 2025 where we will most likely go out for bid once again. If you find that your trash is not collected, do not hesitate to call the DPW, as they will handle the situation for you promptly.
The street repair program is finishing up but the rainy weather has certainly slowed it down. We are hoping that Mother Nature cooperates and we can get it done shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience that it has caused you.
I hope that you all have enjoyed our beautiful parks and have had a chance to bring your family to enjoy the many activities in the park. If you have not seen the new pickleball courts, they are gorgeous and of course are painted in our Woodhaven Warrior Colors of purple and white.
It was nice seeing so many of you at Uncle Sam Jam enjoying the carnival and attractions. We will continue as a City to bring our residents the best services, fun family events, and of course the newest equipment and best training of our emergency first responders. From the first day as your Mayor and as long as I serve I will continue to make sure that every resident in this city is treated with the utmost respect and will remain attentive to their issues. My door is always open and I want everyone to know that “People First” has been and still is my motto.
I am blessed to have such a great City Council who is also dedicated to our residents along with the Department Heads who also have the same beliefs and attitude towards our residents. We have such loyal and dedicated employees who I get so many compliments on because they go above and beyond. Together with all of them and all of you, Woodhaven is truly a great City to live, work, and play in!’
My best always,
Patty Odette, D. C. Mayor for the City of WoodhavenNIXLE COMMUNITY ALERT SYSTEM
Residents,

Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text to their mobile device. Residents may also customize their alert settings by going to www.nixle.com and creating a User Profile.
“Nixle alerts keep our residents informed in real time of severe weather, traffic closures, police issues as well as important community information. Keeping our residents safe is our number 1 priority.“
– Mayor Patricia OdetteThe Nixle service is secure, reliable and easy to use for our organization. All Alerts will be targeted geographically, allowing residents to receive localized, relevant alerts from the City of Woodhaven. Nixle Alerts can be sent via Text, Email, Voice, Web, Social Media, and the Nixle Mobile App in an instant. Nixle is partnered with NLETS for unmatched data security, as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the National Blue Alert Network, and Google for unmatched reach and twoway information exchange.
