Humor – an innovative approach to educating active European citizens Humor was the central theme around which the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project "Stand up for your career" was built, with an aim to transform the way in which the EU citizenship related topics are taught and learned in various educational settings. The research on EU mobility rights conducted at the initial phase of the project was used as a foundation for a stand-up comedy show, which was then performed by a renowned comedian in 10 Slovenian cities. The stand-up performances were followed by a debate with Slovene Ombudsman and a representative of EURES network, to add a wider context to the topics presented. Additionally, we developed and published teaching materials, also based on humor, for teachers across Slovenia. At the events, we aroused more than 4500 laughs and opened a space for a more engaging debate on what it means to be a European citizen.
