El nombre originario de Fuerteventura era E r b a r i a ES> La isla de Fuerteventuro es portadora de uno herencia cultural de un posado lejano y cercano al mismo tiempo que pervive en cada rincón de la isla: De los antiguos pobladores, los grabados, yacimientos arqueológicos y topónimos están presentes por en todas partes. De la herencia colonial, casas señoriales, encantadoras iglesias, ermitas, faros y molinos. De los tiempos modernos, parques escultóricos al aire libre, centros de arte, como la sala de Arte Juan Ismael en Puerto del Rosario, teatros y festivales internacionales convergen hoy día con las manifestaciones culturales centenarias. Tradiciones y Museos Las romerías, los mercadillos, las fiestas populares perpetuadas en todos los pueblos a lo largo del año, o la artesanía hecha de calados, cestería y barro, son ejemplos de una tradición que pervive en nuestros días. La Red de museos de Fuerteventura ofrece la oportunidad de viajar en el tiempo a través de una historia que te acerca al conocimiento del pueblo majorero. Cueva del Llano. Es un tubo volcánico de lava de 648 m de longituden el que se analiza la introducción de determinadas especies animales a lo largo de la historia. Villaverde, La Oliva. Museo Arqueológico de Betancuria. Un recorrido por la cultura aborigen de la isla con muestras de gran valor arqueológico y etnográfico. Betancuria. Ecomuseo La Alcogida. Un poblado de siete viviendas que constituye una muestra del habitat tradicional de Fuerteventura. Tefía, Puerto del Rosario. Centro de interpretación del yacimiento arqueológico de La Atalayita. Se trata de un yacimiento arqueológico, que en su día constituyó un poblado de los Mohos, los aborígenes de Fuerteventura. Valle del Pozo Negro, Antigua. Museo de la Pesca Faro del Tostón. Un espacio dedicado a difundir el arte de la pesca majorera ubicado en un hermoso faro del siglo XIX. El Cotillo, La Oliva. Museo de la Sal. Constituye un complejo cultural integrado por las Salinas del Carmen, construidas hacia el año 1910, y un centro museístico que muestra una visión general de la cultura generada en torno a la sal. Casa Museo Unamuno. Es la casa donde se alojaba el insigne escritor duran-te su destierro en la isla, y contiene diversos objetos y utensilios del paso de Unamuno por Fuerteventura. Puerto del Rosario. Centro de Interpretación Los Molinos. Ubicado en una casa tradicional del siglo pasado, exhibe los materiales y las formas de elaboración del gofio Tiscamanita, Tuineje. Centro de Artesanía Molino de Antigua. Contiene expresiones de la historia del campesinado autóctono, artesanía, esculturas y un gran molino de gofio con su maquinaria intacta. Antigua. Casas de Felipito. En las laderas del Valle de Guisguey está ubicado este parque-merendero, un lugar perfecto para hacer asados con la familia o los amigos. Guisguey, Puerto del Rosario. Mirador de Morro Velosa. Ideado por el célebre artista Cesar Manrique, ofrece una vista del increíble paisaje de la zona centro-norte de la isla desde una perspectiva única Betancuria. Museo del Grano La Cilla. En la casa de la Cilla, de 1819, se puede conocer la historia del ciclo agrícola tradicional, su relación con el clima y una colección de aperos agrícolas. La Oliva. Casa Museo Doctor Mena. Hogar del Doctor Mena, ha sido convertida en museo y está ambientada con elementos de una casa rural acomodada. Ampuyenta, Puerto del Rosario.

La conquista La isla fue conquistada y colonizada por Juan de Bethencourt, empresario de origen normando, y Gadifer de la Salle en los primeros años del siglo XV. En l.404 establecieron su primer asentamiento en la zona más protegida de toda la isla, poniéndole el nombre de Betancuria en honor a su fundador. En la actualidad, esta zona del centro de Fuerteventura, que fue entonces la primera capital de las Islas Canarias, es uno de los lugares más bellos de la geografía insular y con mayor historia a sus espaldas. En 1405, tras la rendición de Guize y Ayoze, los reyes aborígenes que gobernaban los dos reinos en que se dividía la isla en aquel entonces, conocidos como Maxorata y Jandía, finaliza el proceso de conquista de Fuerteventura. Desde el siglo XV al XIX, la isla de Fuerteventura fue un señorío dependiente de los Reyes Católicos, hasta que pasó a integrar la provincia española de Canarias.

Un comienzo remoto... El nacimiento de Fuerteventura se remonto más de 30 millones de años atrás, con el inicio de las erupciones que construyeron los cimientos submarinos de la isla que empezó a emerger a la superficie hace 23 millones de años. Desde entonces, prolonga dos procesos volcánicos y la erosión producida por los incesan tes vientos alisios, han dado como resultado la estampa que hoy podemos admirar. Los primeros pobladores El origen de los primeros pobladores de Fuerteventura ha estado siempre salpicado de leyendas, debido a la escasa literatura que se conserva al respecto. Las diversas teorías sitúan la llegada de los primeros habitantes entre el año 1.000 y 300 antes de Cristo, pero existen todavía posturas diversas y mucha incertidumbre. Los estudios más recientes apuntan a la raíz bereber de los mohos, nombre que reciben los aborígenes de Fuerteventura. Un amplio legado de inscripciones y grabados líbico-bereberes esparcidos por toda la isla son la pista principal que sustenta la creencia de un origen procedente del vecino continente africano.

HISTORY & CULTURE EN > The island of Fuerteventura is the bearer of a cultural heritage that is distant and near at the same time and that remains in each of the island's corners: From the old settlers, the engravings, archaeological sites and place-names that are present everywhere. From modern times, open air sculpture parks, art centres, such as the Juan Ismael Art gallery in Puerto de Rosario, theatres and international festivals that nowadays converge with century old cultural manifestations..

Unamuno House Museum. It is the house where the famous writer lived during his exile on the island and has many objects and tools from Unamuno's stay in Fuerteventura. Puerto del Rosario. Los Molinos Visitor Centre. Situated in a traditional house of the last century, it exhibits the materials and ways of making gofio. Tiscamanita, Tuineje. Molino de Antigua Craft Centre. It contains expressions of indigenous peasant history, crafts, sculptures and a large mill with its machinery for gofio that is still intact. Antigua.

Traditions and Museos Processions, small markets, popular fiestas continue in all the villages throughout the year, or crafts made from openwork, basket weaving and clay, are examples of a tradition that continues today. The Network of museums in Fuerteventura offers the opportunity to travel in time through a history that brings you closer to learning about the Majorero people.

Casas de Felipito. On the sides of Guisguey valley we find this picnic-park, a perfect place for BBQs with family and friends. Guisguey, Puerto del Rosario. Morro Velosa Observation Point. Designed by the famous artist Cesar Manrique, it offers an incredible view of the landscape in the northern centre of the island from a unique perspective. Betancuria. Grano La Cilla Museum. In the Cilla House, dating from 1819, you can learn about the history of the traditional agricultural cycle, its relationship with the climate and see a collection of agricultural tools. La Oliva. Doctor Mena House Museum. The home of Doctor Mena has been converted into a museum and is furnished with features of a well-to-do rural house. Ampuyenta, Puerto del Rosario.

Different theories place the arrival of the first inhabitants at between 1,000 to 300 before Christ, but there are still different opinions and great uncertainty. The most recent studies point to Berber roots of the Mahos, the name given to the aborigines from Fuerteventura. A vast legacy of Libyan- Berber inscriptions andengravings scattered throughout the island are the main clue that supports the belief of an origin that comes from the neighbouring African continent. The conquest The island was conquered and colonised by Juan de Bethencourt, a businessman of Norman origin, and Gadifer de la Salle at the beginning of the 15th century. They established its first settlement in 1404 on the most protected area of the island, naming it Betan-

Das Museen-Netz von Fuerteventura bietet die Gelegenheit eine Zeitreise durch die Geschichte zu unternehmen und das Majorero-Volk kennenzulernen. Cueva del Llano. Auslegungszentrum der archäologischen Fundstelle in La Atalayita. Eshandelt sich um eine archäologische Fundstelle, die seinerzeit eine Maho- Ansiedlung - die Ureinwohner von Fuerteventura - war. Das Tal von Pozo Negro, Antigua. Fischerei-Museum von Faro del Tostón. Ein Ort, in einem wunderschönen Leuchtturm integriert, der der Fischereikunst der Majoreros im 19. Jahrhundert gewidmet ist. Die Vorzeit… Fuerteventura wurde vor mehr als 30 Millionen Jahren gegründet mit dem Beginn der Vulkanausbrüche, die die Meeresgründe bildeten und vor 23 Millionen Jahren an die Wasseroberfläche traten. Seitdem haben lange Vulkanprozesse und die von den ständigen Passat-Winden verursachte Erosion zu dem Aussehen, das wir heute bewundern können, geführt.

Die ersten Ansiedler Die Herkunft der ersten Ansiedler von Fuerteventura ist seit jeher von Legenden geschmückt, da es nicht viel Literatur darüber existiert. Die Eroberung Die Insel wurde von dem normannischen Geschäftsmann Jean de Béthencourt und von Gadifer de la Salle in den ersten Jahren des 15. Jahrhunderts erobert und gegründet. 1404 haben sich die ersten Ansiedler in dem bestgeschützten Teil der Insel niedergelassen und der Insel den Namen Betancuria zu Ehren des Gründers gegeben. Die im Zentrum von Fuerteventura gelegene Stadt Betancuria war die erste Hauptstadt der Kanarischen Inseln und ist gegenwärtig einer der schönsten Orte der Inselgruppe und die Stadt mit der längsten Geschichte. Zu Zeiten der eingeborenen Könige Guize und Ayoze war die Insel in zwei Königsreiche – Maxorata und Jandía—geteilt. Nach der Kapitulation dieser Könige endete der Prozess der Eroberung der Insel Fuerteventura. Vom 15. bis 16. Jahrhundert stand die Insel Fuerteventura unter der Herrschaft der Katholischen Könige, bis sie ein Teil der spanischen Provinz „Die Kanaren“ wurde.

Fuerteventura dispone de unas zonas maravillosas para andar en mountain bike, tanto para pasear y disfrutar de las asombrosas vistas en contacto con la naturaleza, como para los más extremos que buscan desafíos en pistas de descenso de gran dificultad. Los ciclistas de carretera también encuentran aquí su hábitat ideal para mejorar y entrenar su fondo.

Senderismo

Con vistas a las Islas de Lanzarote y Lobos, se encuentra el Parque Natural Dunas de Corralejo que nos traslada a un continente diferente. Corralejo es sinónimo de deporte, dispone de todo lo necesario para disfrutar de cualquier deporte relacionado con el mar, vela, pesca, surf, windsurf, kitesurf… Y cuenta también con un sorprendente ambiente tanto durante el día como en la noche, donde todos los estilos de vida tienen cabida.

La Ruta de los Coroneles: La Casa de los Coroneles, que es uno de los monumentos históricos más emblemáticos del archipiélago canario, que data del siglo XVIII, actualmente se usa también como sala de exposiciones. Justo enfrente nos encontramos el Centro de arte Canario, Casa Mané, antigua vivienda en cuyos jardines se construyó una galería subterránea en la que actualmente se realizan exposiciones permanentes y temporales de artistas canarios. En sus jardines se puede disfrutar de la flora autóctona. Casa de Cilla: Inmueble que nació como almacén para albergar los diezmos, décima parte de la cosecha del año abonada a la iglesia. Iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de la Candelaria: obra Mudéjar del siglo XVI que refleja de forma muy clara la arquitectura religiosa de Fuerteventura. Mercado de las tradiciones: Mercado de productos locales relacionados con el sector primario y la artesanía de Fuerteventura. Esta Casa era propiedad de Pedro Manrique de Lara (Hijo del Coronel). La fiesta de Ntra. Sra. Candelaria se celebra el 2 de febrero. El Cotillo: el Castillo El Tostón, fortaleza construida por el conquistador Jean de Bethencourt en los primeros años de la colonización. La actual torre, que se erigió entre las ruinas en el año 1700, fue declarada en 1949 monumento histórico de Interés Cultural. El Faro del Tostón que alberga un Museo de la Pesca Tradicional, las playas de los lagos del Cotillo y las playas de los Acantilados. La fiesta de Ntra. Sra. del Buen Viaje se celebra en Agosto. Lajares: ofrece magnícas rutas de senderismo. Subiendo el volcán Calderón Hondo, disfrutaremos de una vista maravillosa sobre todo el norte de la isla, Lanzarote y la isla de lobos. Tindaya: la montaña sagrada de los guanches con gran valor etnográfico y cultural. Zona natural protegida de Vallebrón: Mirador de Vallebrón.

Casa de Los Coroneles

Corralejo: el Parque Natural Dunas de Corralejo donde conoceremos la verdadera naturaleza de la isla con sus Grandes Playas de agua cristalina y sus montañas de arena blanca. El Parque Natural de la Isla de Lobos, idóneo para practicar senderismo recorriendo toda la isla y disfrutar de un maravilloso día de playa. Los Carnavales se celebran en marzo, la fiesta de Ntra. Sra. del Carmen el 16 de julio y el Festival Internacional de Cometas en Noviembre. Corralejo is synonymous with sports and it offers everything you may need to enjoy any kind of water sports: sailing, fishing, surfing, windsurfing, kite-boarding, etc. And it also has a surprising atmosphere both by day and by night, where there is room for all kinds of life-styles.

Los Coroneles Route: La Casa de los Coroneles, La Casa de los Coroneles, one of the most emblematic historical monuments of the Canary Islands, dating back to the 18th century, it is also used as an exhibition hall. Right opposite is the Casa Mané Canary Island Art Centre, an old house with an underground gallery built in the garden that is currently used for permanent and temporary exhibitions of Canary Island artists. The gardens offer visitors the chance to enjoy the native flora. Casa de Cilla: A property that was originally a storehouse for tithes, one tenth of the crop levied each year for the church. Ntra. Sra. de la Candelaria Church: a 16th-century Mudejar work that clearly reflects the religious architecture of Fuerteventura. Las Tradiciones market: Market of local produce from the Fuerteventura primary and craft sectors. This building was owned by Pedro Manrique de Lara (the Colonel’s Son). The Ntra. Sra. Candelaria Fiesta is held on the 2nd of February.

Casa de Cilla: Das Gebäude wurde als Lagerhaus für die sogenannten „Diezmos“ errichtet - die Zehntelabgaben der Ernte eines Jahres, die an die Kirche entrichtet werden mussten. Iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de la Candelaria (Kirche Unserer Lieben Frau von La Candelaria): ein Bauwerk im Mudéjar-Stil aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, das die religiöse Architektur von Fuerteventura deutlich widerspiegelt. Mercado de las tradiciones (Markt der Traditionen): Markt mit heimischen Erzeugnissen aus Landwirtschaft und Kunsthandwerk von Fuerteventura. Das Haus stand im Eigentum von Pedro Manrique de Lara (dem Sohn des Obersten). Das Patronatsfest der Jungfrau von Candelaria wird am 2. Februar gefeiert. El Cotillo: das Castillo El Tostón, Festung El Tostón, wurde von dem Eroberer Jean de Bethencourt in den ersten Jahren der Kolonialisierung erbaut. Beim Aufstieg auf den Vulkan Calderón Hondo genießen wir herrliche Ausblicke auf den gesamten Norden der Insel, Lanzarote und die Insel Isla de Lobos. Tindaya: Der heilige Berg der Guanchen besitzt einen großen ethnografischen und kulturellen Wert. Naturschutzgebiet von Vallebrón: Aussichtspunkt Vallebrón. Corralejo: der Naturpark der Dünen von Corralejo, wo wir die wahre Natur der Insel mit ihren großartigen Stränden aus kristallklarem Wasser und ihren Bergen aus weißem Sand kennenlernen. Der Naturpark Isla de Lobos, ideal zum Wandern, um die Insel zu erkunden und einen wunderschönen Tag am Strand zu genießen. En su capital, Pájara, y en Toto destacan varias muestras de arquitectura tradicional canaria, como son la iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de Regla y la Ermita de San Antonio de Padua. Se hallan también, en sus proximidades, otras construcciones emblemáticas que conforman la ruta etnográfica de Pájara, tales como la Tenería de Tabobeta en Mézquez, los hornos de cal en Ajuy, la Tahona de los Vecinos de la Cañada y el Corral del Concejo en Pájara. Ajuy, La Lajita, Morro Jable y el Puertito de la Cruz son enclaves costeros de tradición marinera donde el pescado fresco, ya sea frito, a la plancha o en caldo, y acompañado de papas con mojo es el protagonista de su oferta gastronómica. Los diversos matices de la rica gastronomía de Pájara son fruto de la creatividad de sus gentes y la fusión de sus influencias culturales, pero destaca, sobre todo, por

la sencillez de las materias primas: pescado, carne de cabra, tomates, papas y queso majorero hecho con leche cruda de cabra. Diese Sportarten blicken in unserer Gemeinde auf eine lange Tradition zurück, denn bereits seit 1986 werden stets im Juli an der Playa de Sotavento die Profi-Weltmeisterschaften ausgetragen. Der Meeresgrund ist von außergewöhnlicher Helligkeit: sandige Böden mit einer Vielzahl schöner, origineller Felsformationen voller Leben. In La Lajita haben Groß und Klein inmitten einer üppigen Vegetation Gelegenheit, ein einmaliges Erlebnis auf den Kanaren zu erleben: Kamelritte und ein Besuch des botanischen Gartens und des Zoos, der zahlreiche Spezies aus allen Ecken der Welt zeigt, sowie Shows mit Papageien, Seelöwen, Reptilien und Raubvögeln.

ES > Las Playas de Sotavento de Jandía, desde Matas Blancas a la Punta de Jandía, reúnen unas condiciones excepcionales para la práctica de los deportes estrellas de Fuerteventura, el windsurf y el kiteboard. Las condiciones de viento, en la época que soplan intensamente los alisios (de mayo a septiembre), han motivado que Pájara sea sede de tres Campeonatos Mundiales, el Fuerteventura Windsurf & Kiteboarding World Cup, celebrados a finales de julio y principios de agosto, y el Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Callenge. El Campeonato del Mundo de Windsurf de Fuerteventura nace en 1986 por iniciativa del empresario suizo René Egli, pionero en introducir este deporte en la isla. Este Campeonato, apoyado posteriormente por las instituciones locales y regionales, se proyecta con la vocación de dar a conocer las posibilidades de uso y disfrute turístico en la Isla de Fuerteventura a lo largo de todo en año, a través de un deporte apasionante y

de gran atractivo visual. Desde entonces se dan cita cada año en las Playas de Sotavento la élite del mundo del Windsurfing y en el año 2001 el Campeonato se amplía mediante la inclusión del Kiteboarding. En torno a este Campeonato se ha consolidado el espacio lúdico-festivo "La Carpa" donde se combina el ambiente deportivo con espectáculos musicales, tanto de día como de noche, haciendo de La Carpa la mejor fiesta del verano en la isla. El 42 veces campeón del mundo de windsurf, Björn Dunkerbeck, es habitual de las playas del sur de Pájara. Este deportista de origen danés y residente en Gran Canaria es un amante de las Playas de Jandía y ha elegido la playa de Matas Blancas como escenario del Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge. La Playa de Matas Blancas, al norte de Costa Calma, es también cada año, a finales de junio, sede del Campeonato de Europa de Freestyle de Windsurf.

EN > The Jandía Beaches of Sotavento, from Blancas to La Punta de Jandía, offer exceptional conditions for the most popular sports in Fuerteventura, windsurfing and kiteboarding. When the Trade Winds are blowing strong (from May to September), wind conditions have made Pájara the venue for three World Championships, Fuerteventura Windsurf & Kiteboarding World Cup, held in late July and early August, and the Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge. The World Windsurfing Championship was first held in Fuerteventura in 1986 at the initiative of Swiss businessman René Egli, a pioneer in bringing the sport to the island. This Championship, which later gained backing from local and regional institutions, projects its vocation to spread the Word about the potential of the island of Fuerteventura as a holiday destination all year round, using this exciting and graphically attractive sport as a vehicle. The windsurfing elite has been flocking to the beaches of Sotavento ever since and in 2001, the Championship was extended to include Kiteboarding too. “La Carpa” has consolidated as a leisure-festive space around the Championships, combining the sporting atmosphere with music shows by day and by night, making La Carpa the best summer festival on the island.

42-times world champion, Björn Dunkerbeck, is a regular visitor to the beaches of Pájara in the south. Björn has Danish roots but lives in Gran Canaria, and he loves the Beaches of Jandía; in fact he has chosen the beach of Matas Blancas as the venue for the Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge. The beach of Matas Blancas, north of Costa Calma, is also every year, at the end of June, home to the European Windsurf Freestyle Championship.

Seitdem versammelt sich Jahr für Jahr an der Playa de Sotavento die Weltelite der Windsurfer und im Jahr 2001 wurde die Meisterschaft durch die Einbeziehung der Kiteboarder erweitert. Rund um diese Meisterschaft wurde auch ein sehr attraktives Beiprogramm unter dem Namen „La Carpa" geschaffen, das die sportlichen Ereignisse Tag und Nacht mit musikalischen Darbietungen und Festveranstaltungen ergänzt, sodass es sich heute als das beste Sommerfest der Insel etabliert hat. Auch der 42-malige Windsurf-Weltmeister Björn Dunkerbeck ist häufig Gast an den südlichen Stränden von Pájara. Der aus Dänemark stammende und auf Gran Canaria wohnende Sportler ist ein Liebhaber der Playas de Jandía und wählte den Strand Playa de Matas Blancas als Austragungsort der Dunkerbeck GPS Speed Challenge. Der Strand von Matas Blancas, im Norden von Costa Calma, ist ebenfalls jedes Jahr Ende Juni dem Austragungort der europäischen WindsurfFreestyle-Meisterschaft.

Para conocer nuestra historia, cada mes de octubre conmemoramos y celebramos la victoria de los majoreros frente a los corsarios ingleses, en las Batallas del Cuchillete y Tamasite con la ayuda de San Miguel, protagonista de este hecho histórico que tuvo lugar en 1740.

Um unserer Geschichte zu gedenken, feiert Tuineje alljährlich im Monat Oktober das historische Ereignis des Sieges der Inselbewohner, der „Majoreros“, über die englischen Korsaren, die mit Hilfe der Anrufung des Heiligen Michaels im Jahr 1740 in den Schlachten von Cuchillete und Tamasite besiegt werden konnten.

Herencia volcánica Cada rincón de la geografía isleña está subordinado al origen volcánico de Fuerteventura. Un proceso que encuentra su origen más de 20 millones de años atrás, y que convierte la isla en la más antigua del archipiélago canario. Tantos años de incesante caricia de los vientos alisios ha condicionado todo su paisaje y hace de la naturaleza majorera un espectáculo único. Donde hace millones de años había bosques, hoy hay un mar de dunas de arena; las formaciones rocosos de entonces, o muchos metros bajo tierra, hoy afloran a la superficie. Cada paisaje, cada piedra, cada ser vivo que en la isla habita, y hasta los sabores de los productos que nacen de su tierra, llevan grabado el sello del volcán. Senderismo Fuerteventura cuenta en la actualidad con una recién estrenada red de senderos, que alberga en su totalidad 255 kilómetros de caminos en todo el territorio insular para recorrer a pie, una oportunidad para conocer las mejores cualidades paisajísticas, naturales, históricas y culturales de la isla. De los 255 kilómetros, 153 forman parte del GR 131, un trazado de Gran Recorrido que atraviesa la isla de norte a sur, desde Corralejo hasta la Punta de Jandía, en un total de nueve etapas.

Flora y fauna Fuerteventura sorprende por la extrañeza de su flora y de su fauna. Sus cielos son surcados por la mejor representación de avifauna de Canarias, con un número importante de especies nidificantes, como el guirre y la avutardahubara, especies subendémicas de canarias, y otras migratorias, que se sirven de sus vírgenes costas como parada y fonda. En la tierra, entre los mamíferos encontramos burros, camellos majoreros y la cabra majorera autóctona, reconocida por los científicos, que se mueve en libertad por todos los parajes de la Isla y que es la culpable de que en Fuerteventura se produzca uno de los quesos de cabra más galardonados y ricos del mundo: el queso majorero. En el mar, las formaciones volcánicas de los fondos de la isla son el hogar de más de 390 especies de criaturas marinas singulares.

Una serie de caminos de Pequeño Recorrido y Senderos Locales, completan el entramado que llega a casi todos los rincones de Fuerteventura. Un valiosísimo espectáculo.

En la zona emergida encontramos una flora, que si bien puede parecer que apenas existe por el predominio de paisajes desérticos y áridos, comprende en realidad una riquísima variedad de especies singulares adaptadas a las condiciones climáticas de la aridez. Destacan sin embargo los palmerales que forman auténticos oasis, los bosquetes de tarahales, los aulagas y tabaibas o los euphorbias como el cardón de Jandía, endémico del sur de la isla. Todos ellos nos recuerdan a lo largo de todo el territorio que estamos ante un paisaje creado a sí mismo por la escasez de lluvia, y miles de siglos de erosión.

Bird watching The island's status as a crossing and nesting point for a great variety of birds, makes Fuerteventura an extraordinary place for bird watching. The island has various “hides” located in the wetlands most used by the birds, such as Catalina García pool or los Molinos dam, from where you can see unique flocks of ducks that periodically invade the Majorero skies.

Flora and Fauna Fuerteventura surprises us by its astonishing flora and fauna. Its skies are crossed by the best representation of bird fauna in the Canary Islands, with an important number of nesting species such as the guirre and the Houbara Bustard, subendemic species of the Canary Islands together with other migratory birds, which make use of its virgin coasts as a stopping place and watering hole.

On land among the mammals we find donkeys, Majorero camels and the indigenous Majorera goat as recognised by scientists, who roam freely all over the Island and can be blamed for Fuerteventura producing a delicious goat's cheese which has won many awards in the world: the Majorero cheese. In the sea, the volcanic formations of the island's seabeds are home to more than 390 species of unique marine creatures. In the emerged area we find flora, which seems highly unusual due to the desert dominance and arid landscapes, but they really make up a rich variety of unique species adapted to the arid climatic conditions. However what really stands out are palm groves forming authentic oases, clumps of tamarisks, gorse and tabaibas or euphorbias like the Jandia cardon, which is endemic in the south of the island. All of them remind us that all over the territory we are facing a landscape created by itself due to the lack of rain and thousands of years of erosion. The sea that surrounds the island is a real paradise for cetaceans with more than 22 species of dolphins, whales and beaked whales, together with different turtle species, highlighting the caretta-caretta.

Eine gute Gelegenheit um die schönsten natürlichen, historischen und kulturellen Landschaften der Insel kennenzulernen. 153 von den 255 km sind Teil des GR 135, eine Straßenführung (große Tour), die die Insel von Norden bis Süden, von Corralejo bis Punta de Jandía in insgesamt neun Abschnitte teilt. Eine Reihe von Wegen (Kleine Tour - PR) und lokalen Pfaden (SL) vervollständigen das Straßennetz, das zu allen Ecken von Fuerteventura führt. Ein wertvolles Schauspiel. Vögel Sicht Die Insel ist für Zugvögel eine ideale Raststelle und für viele Vogelarten ideal für den Nestbau. Dadurch kann man sehr gut die Vögel beobachten. Die Flora und Fauna der Insel sind für den Besucher überraschend. Am Himmel von Fuerteventura kann man die typische Vogelwelt der Kanaren beobachten. Viele Vögel wie der Geier oder die Trappe bauen hier ihre Nester; Zugvögel nutzen die unberührte Küste als Raststelle, bevor sie weiter fliegen.

Flora und Fauna Auf dem Land, unter den Säugetieren, findet man Esel, einheimische, von Wissenschaftlern anerkannte Kamele und die einheimische Ziege, die überall auf der Insel in Freiheit lebt und die für den besten und meistgekrönten Käse der Welt verantwortlich ist: MajoreroKäse (Käse aus Fuerteventura). Auf dem Meeresgrund befinden sich vulkanische Formationen, die als Heim für mehr als 390 einzigartige Meeresarten dienen. Auf der Oberfläche finden wir eine Flora, die zwar aufgrund der Wüstenlandschaft kaum sichtbar ist, aber eine reiche Vielfalt an Pflanzenarten bietet, die sich den Bedingungen eines Trockenklimas angepasst haben. Die Palmen, die Tamarisken-Wälder, die Stechginster, und die Euphorbien oder Stechpalmen aus Janda bilden jedoch eine echte Oase im Süden der Insel. Alle diese Pflanzen, die wir entlang der Insel finden, machen uns auf eine Landschaft aufmerksam, die sich als Folge des Trockenklimas undeiner Jahrhunderte andauernde Erosion gebildet hat. ES > Los platos de Fuerteventura saben a sal, a mar y al pastoreo de las cabras majoreras. La carne de cabrito es la más popular de todas. La carne de cabrito se puede encontrar en cualquier lugar donde vayamos, aunque cada cual la suele preparar con un estilo personal. Otros platos con carne pueden incluir sopas, con importantes condimentos. Si le gusta la carne, le recomndamos las especialidades como la carne de cabrito o también la carne de cerdo, muy degustadas entre los canarios. Las papas (patatas) se comen en cualquier rincón de la Isla de Fuerteventura. Se sirven en una amplia variedad de platos, pero seguramente el más popular es el de papas salteadas, asadas o cocidas en agua con sal y luego acompañadas con salsa de mojo. Este plato es conocido como Papas arrugadas, con una gran importancia en la zona. Entre las distintas papas que se cultivan en Fuerteventura, podemos encontrarnos con Papas Rojas, Blancas y otras con sabores muy peculiares. Otro producto parecido a la papa es la Batata, también famosa en la Isla. Fuerteventura es una de las islas que dispone de un amplio litoral y muchas especies marinas en sus costas Debido al clima cálido de la isla, las comidas suelen ser sobrias. Por ello, los elementos básicos de su cocina son los abundantes pescados y productos de la tierra, condimentados con los mojos y los aliños especiales de la tierra. Así, algunos platos típicos que podemos destacar de la isla son el Compuesto de pescado de Fuerteventura y los Guisantes Majoreros.

El Queso Majorero Con denominación de origen desde el año 1996, es el primer queso de cabra en conseguir la denominación de origen de todo el territorio español. Curado, semicurado o tierno; al natural, con gofio, pimentón o aceite; ... Es, sin duda, la exquisitez de la Maxorata, circunstancia que ha sido reconocida con innumerables premios internacionales.

La reposteria tradicional majorera está fundamentada en la actualidad en las costumbres populares y que, sobre todo, se produce en los hogares para el consumo familiar. Por eso, a la hora de mencionar postres majoreros hay que destacar el famoso frangollo, que se hace añadiendo cáscaras de limón a la leche y se cuece con harina, yemas de huevo, azúcar, almendras y pasas; el bizcochón majorero, que se hace con harina de garbanzos; y los buñuelos de queso majorero, cuyo sabor es muy intenso.

You can find baby goat meat anywhere you go, although everybody has his own way of preparing it. Other meat dishes may include well-seasoned soups. If you like meat, we would recommend specialities such as baby goat meat, or pork, both highly appreciated among Canary Islanders. Potatoes are eaten everywhere on the Island of Fuerteventura. They are served with a wide variety of dishes, the most popular dish is undoubtedly sautéed, baked or boiled potatoes (in salty water), accompanied by a “mojo” sauce. This dish is known as “Papas arrugadas”, a very important local dish. The different varieties of potato grown on Fuerteventura include Papas Rojas (Red Potatoes), Papas Blancas (White Potatoes) and others with some very different flavours. Another product similar to the potato is the Sweet Potato, which is also famous on the Island.

Fuerteventura is an island with kilometres of coastline and many marine species along its coasts. Due to the island’s warm climate, meals are usually simple, which is why the basic ingredients of the local cuisine are the abundant fish and produce of the earth, seasoned with “mojo” sauces and dressed with the specialities of the land. Hence, some of the typical dishes that we can recommend from the island or the“Compuesto de pescado de Fuerteventura” (Fuerteventura fish stew) and Guisantes Majoreros (Fuerteventura Peas).

Fuerteventura Cheese (Queso Majorero) With its own denomination of origin since 1996, it is the first goat’s milk cheese to obtain a denomination of origin in the whole of Spain. Mature, semi-mature or fresh; natural, with “gofio”, paprika or oil; ... It is undoubtedly the most exquisite product of the island that has won acclaim with countless international prizes. Traditional Fuerteventura pastry-making is currently based on popular customs and comes, first and foremost, from private homes, make to be eaten by the family.

That is why we cannot talk about Fuerteventura deserts without mentioning the famous “frangollo”, which is made by adding lemon peel to milk and then boiling it up with flour, egg yolks, sugar, almonds and raisins; “bizcochón majorero” (Fuerteventura sponge cake), made with chick-pea flour; and the strongtasting Fuerteventura cheese fritters.

Kartoffeln (Papas) werden überall auf Insel Fuerteventura gegessen. Man reicht sie zu einer großen Anzahl von Gerichten, aber sicherlich sind die beliebtesten die so genannten "Papas arrugadas", Runzelkartoffeln, die in Salzwasser gekocht und mit Mojo-Soße serviert werden und von großer Bedeutung in der gesamten Region sind. Unter den auf Fuerteventura angebauten Kartoffeln gilt es insbesondere die Roten und Weißen Kartoffeln, sowie eine Reihe von anderen Sorten mit außergewöhnlichen Aromen hervorzuheben. Ein weiteres, auf der Insel sehr beliebtes Produkt sind die Süßkartoffeln, Batata.

Fuerteventura ist eine Insel mit einer großen Küstenlinie und viele Fische und Meeresspezies leben in ihren Gewässern. Aufgrund des warmen Klimas der Insel neigen die Bewohner eher zu schlichteren Mahlzeiten. Grundlegende Zutaten der hiesigen Küche sind daher reichlich Fisch und lokale Erzeugnisse, die mit Mojos und anderen heimischen Soßen gewürzt werden. Zwei Gerichte der Insel, die wir besonders hervorheben möchten, sind der Fischtopf, Compuesto de pescado, und der Erbsenteller Guisantes Majoreros.

Der Majorero-Käse Der Käse Fuerteventuras steht seit 1996 unter dem Schutz der Herkunftsbezeichnung. Er war der erste Ziegenkäse ganz Spaniens, der mit einer Ursprungsbezeichnung ausgezeichnet wurde. Gereift, halb gereift oder als Frischkäse, mit Gofio, Paprika oder Öl ...: Stets ist es die herausragende Qualität des Maxorata, die ihn zahlreicher internationaler Preise würdig machten. Die traditionellen Süßspeisen und Desserts Fuerteventuras wurzeln in alten volkstümlichen Rezepten und werden vor allem in den privaten Haushalten zubereitet. Unter ihnen gilt es besonders den berühmten "Frangollo-Pudding" zu erwähnen, bei dessen Zubereitung Zitronenschale, Mehl, Eigelb, Zucker, Mandeln und Rosinen verwendet werden. Ferner sind der Biskuitkuchen mit Kichererbsenmehl, sowie die Käsetaschen mit ihrem intensiven Geschmack zu erwähnen.
