Before you can start selling real estate, you need to be qualified and licensed.

Get certified

New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) Level 4

The first step in your new career is to attain your New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) Level 4.

This qualification, delivered in partnership with leading national providers, is recognised throughout New Zealand and is completed online with support and guidance from our training team.

Get licensed

Real Estate Authority (REA) Licence

All real estate salespeople must pay a licence fee each year, in order to sell real estate in New Zealand.

Training

Orientation

You will be invited to attend Orientation at Head Office within the first few months of starting with Property Brokers. You will meet all the Support Centre team and learn just how everyone can support you in your new venture. Orientation also outlines all the fundamental practices that will get you started on the right foot and show you where to access all the information and resources you need to be successful.

Springboard training

Springboard is a unique training and support programme developed by Property Brokers for our people, outlining techniques and practices to help you get on the pathway to success.

Once you complete your New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) Level 4, we provide you with the opportunity to participate in the Springboard Induction Programme.

Springboard is not all about theory. You will be encouraged to complete many practical, everyday tasks and activities in order to gain confidence and acquire the skills necessary to succeed in selling real estate.

When you are starting down a new career path, training and support is critical to your success. We don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk with you every step of the way.

You will receive individual guidance and mentoring and will be supported by the learning facilitator and your sales manager.

Other training

Ongoing sales training and mentoring will be provided along the way.

Company systems and process based training sessions are scheduled throughout the year. These may be individual, office or company based.

Property Brokers provides the required REA Verifiable and Non-Verifiable training throughout the year, making it easy to stay up-to-date and compliant.

Property Brokers is a recognised Industry Training Organisation (ITO).

Online resources are readily available and easy to locate on our intranet.

Support Centre

Our Support Centre team is pivotal to the success of the company and helping you achieve your goals.

Housed at our Support Centre in Palmerston North is our Managing Director, Operations, Training, Finance, Marketing, Creative and Digital Solutions teams. These divisions support the company, branches and salespeople throughout New Zealand.

Management

Our management team is committed to making the crucial decisions necessary for Property Brokers to succeed in the highly competitive real estate environment.

Operations

Operations take care of the company’s health and safety requirements under the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015, as well as all other human resource needs.

Training

The training team is committed to educating and upskilling Property Brokers people to reach their full potential as quickly as possible, so they experience success in their role.

Finance

Finance ensure that bills, commissions and salaries are paid and that all sold properties are settled on time.

Marketing

Our marketing team provide sound marketing advice and support to all salespeople and property managers, as well as a free in-house graphic design service for your personal marketing material. Marketing will provide you with some free essentials to get you started once you have completed your papers and become a licensed Real Estate Salesperson. Other merchandise is available for purchase through the company intranet.

Digital Solutions

The Digital Solutions team ensures uninterrupted service of our technology to our many branches, salespeople and staff. A friendly voice at our service desk can help you with any enquiry you may have with your tablet, computer, software, hardware or information systems.

Start-up costs

A career with Property Brokers provides you with the opportunity to develop your own business under the Property Brokers brand, without many of the capital costs often associated with start-ups.

Vehicle While we do not provide an estimate as to the cost of a suitable motor vehicle, it is essential to have a clean, tidy, reliable and respectable vehicle. Rural and lifestyle salespeople will ideally have a vehicle with 4WD off-road capability.

Vehicle insurance cover You will need to advise your insurance company of your new career, as your policy may need to be altered due to your vehicle being used for work purposes. This may result in a change of premium. Your insurance company will quote this.

Public liability insurance

First aid kit It is now a requirement under Health & Safety law to carry a first aid kit in your vehicle. These are available to order from the company at a special price.

Promotional material Flag pole and tow bar or wheel mount.

Professional attire Presenting yourself professionally is essential in real estate, as first impressions really do make a difference to your business. Invest in some professional clothing (suited to your area of real estate), quality shoes and accessories.

Accountant You may wish to employ the services of an accountant to do your end of year accounts and help you meet your tax obligations and ACC requirements.

Tools At times you may need to put up and take down signs. A basic tool kit to keep in your car will be handy.

Marketing material The marketing team can assist you with designing a promotional package that works with your budget.
