Property Brokers Property Brokers was estabished in Palmerston North in 1986, when a small locally owned real estate business was purchased along with an old villa, which was converted into an office. Principal Tim Mordaunt, and his business partner opened the doors with a staff of seven. The company took opportunities to expand through the provincial towns and cities of the lower North Island and in 2010, into the South Island. In 2013 an opportunity arose to expand Property Brokers into the Buller region with a branch opening in Westport. Most recently, Property Brokers has expanded north into Waikato and King Country opening branches in Matamata, Te Aroha, Te Kuiti, and Taumarunui.

Property Brokers now operates throughout Waikato/ King Country, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu Wanganui, Horowhenua, Tararua and Wairarapa and across Canterbury, West Coast, Buller and North Otago. In July 2011 Property Brokers celebrated its 25th anniversary. Still provincially owned and operated we now have over 450 staff and their families involved in the organisation. We are proudly provincial and absolutely committed to providing the ultimate service to our clients. Head Office remains based in Palmerston North on the same site as the original villa. Property Brokers Head Office comprises Management, Marketing, Information Technology, Finance and Training teams. The values, ideals and commitment to excellence remain the same but have been added to with the wealth of support and
knowledge that our salespeople can draw upon from Head Office. Now a multi-faceted company, Property Brokers holds a large market share in rural, residential and lifestyle property, and manages more rental properties than anyone else across our regions. With a growing presence in Commercial and Industrial, the company also operates a complementary Building Compliance Division. This diversification allows Property Brokers to reach more people and provide the best result no matter what aspect of real estate a client is interested in. Already number one in our patch we are leading the way through our people, information technology, systems, training and marketing.

Our team has a fantastic blend of real estate experience and combined with the backgrounds many of them have in farming, the stock and station and rural banking sectors, are well placed to provide solutions to a wide range of property related matters. In house operational support results in marketing and advertising material, in all its various forms, being of the highest quality. Referral Network In 1995 Property Brokers initiated the establishment of the NZ Realtors Network, a group of independent real estate companies that sell nearly 30% of rural properties and 25% of residential properties throughout New Zealand. In Mid and South Canterbury, Property Brokers has the major market share of farm sales and these are mainly to off-shore investors and large individual and corporate investors from within New Zealand. In the lower North Island, Property Brokers dominate rural sales and have a strong and committed team of rural consultants with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
In Taranaki, McDonald Real Estate sell a majority of rural properties in the area. Property Brokers is growing its market share in Waikato/ King Country, and has sold many top end rural properties. From Auckland north, Barfoot & Thompson have a huge market share. NZ Realtors Network members trade under their individual brands and the network and collaboration that has evolved is effective and allows members to represent vendors throughout the country.

Tim Mordaunt Dip. (VFM) Managing Director/Owner, Property Brokers Group Tim founded Property Brokers in June 1986. A Lincoln College graduate, prior to entering the real estate industry Tim worked in the Stock and Station industry and then as a valuer and farm management consultant. The driving force behind the growth and success of Property Brokers, Tim is still very much involved in the company and its strategic direction as well as being a long standing District President for the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. Ian Walsh B.Ag.Sc CEO, Property Brokers South Island
Ian joined Hasting McLeod Limited (now Property Brokers South Island) in 2008 as CEO. Prior to this Ian spent 13 years in rural banking rising to the position of General Manager of Rural for the BNZ and 4 years in the stock and station industry where he headed up the finance, insurance and real estate divisions. Ian is responsible for running the company and has a particular interest in rural real estate. He is a point of contact for the South Island rural professionals and media and has a wide network across the industry.
