Welcome to our latest innovation and inaugural digital listing real estate platform for the Waikato region. For those of you who are not entirely familiar with Property Brokers Real Estate, we are provincial New Zealand’s fastestgrowing full-service family-owned real estate offering. This has been achieved through nothing other than genuine organic growth. We are going through interesting times, and the last six weeks have moved our everyday existence into quite possibly the most unusual period of living in recent memory. No doubt all have felt the anxiety and concern up and down the country. Our everyday work has moved from the office into our homes. We too, have

experienced a significant shift in our day-to-day business, and the real estate industry has been impacted like many others. Through this, however, we have had to evaluate how we do business, and, how we need to adjust in order to operate in a period of limitation. Quite possibly we feel that we know one another that much better, and now have a newfound respect for all things family and community. As a group, we know our neighbours better, ourselves better and equally our businesses better as we adapt to the changes that have come with the COVID-19 lockdown. The real estate industry makes up a whopping 13% of GDP every year in New Zealand. Therefore, the average Kiwi has a genuine interest in how their property may fair during a period of such unprecedented global change. Our markets are inherently linked to business confidence, interest rates, inflation, unemployment, domestic/ international migration and most critically supply and demand. Over the last decade, we have all seen our respective markets trend in an upward trajectory for a sustained period of time. It would appear now that the many factors that drove our markets to appreciate are notably under threat to retract, or will they? Yes, we will, unfortunately, have casualties and the prospect of

unemployment increasing, particularly in sectors such as Tourism are real threats to our economy. What impact that has across the breadth of our economy is yet to be determined; however, we believe that our housing issues of low supply have not changed. Our demand is still significant and given the levels of pre-approved loans prior to lockdown and the various ‘Stimulus’ packages being injected into our economy by our government including the loosening of LVR restrictions by the Reserve Bank; we believe that there will be a natural slowdown. However, we predict a swift upward swing as the real estate market jumps back to life as the year progresses. We are living all in the hope that we all come out of this less scathed than first anticipated. Our hope also is that COVID-19 is eliminated due to our collective physical distancing efforts. In future editions this digital platform will not be purely a premium digital listing platform to illustrate our unmatched reach in the Waikato, it will provide you with all the information you need to know about real estate. We will provide you with up to date expert commentary, editorials, indepth market analysis and local feedback, all to keep you our clients informed with what will be a changing marketplace.
