Marketplace describes technology-based platforms, which changethe trading and utility method of real estate. The transaction-centric digital platformsfocus on the function as an intermediary, as a digital marketplace, i.e. In other words, the platform brings supply anddemandtogetherand enables transactions to be carried out(as in a classic marketplace). They can be online matchmaking platforms, suchan online broker platform, biddingplatform,transactionsplatform orrentalplatform.Theseplatforms use or build itself platform as a service and offers theirservices with a lotof new tools. This sectorsupportstherealestateoccupierandtradingmarkets.

Therealestateagentshavetraditionallyoperatedona‘soleagency’basis,andarereliant on instructions to sell properties on behalf of the ownerfor a feeof around 1%-3% of the purchase pricein theSwitzerland. There are also a few companies, who offer a common online platform for brokers, wherethey build a multiple listing service. The PropTech companies are under 1% of market share. But both of themuse online platforms to acquirethe new customers and offer their platforms as a service for transactions. Nowadays,95%ofresidentialsalesaregeneratedbyonlineportalsandonly5%byestate agents’shopwindows.

There are sevencompanies,which are operative in marketplace sector. They offer 11 services and 9 products. The business areas are; platform as a service, software as a service and digital brokerage. The most of them havematchmaking platforms to bring differentmarketplayerstogether.
