A PPAC BROADWAY SPECIAL! February 27 – March 4

// Tickets: $110 - $56

After launching its National Tour at PPAC in the fall of 2015, BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL returns to the Theatre for a special week-long engagement. Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. BEAUTIFUL tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

ON YOUR FEET! features Gloria Estefan’s most iconic songs, including “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “Get On Your Feet,” “Don’t Want to Lose You Now,” and “1-2-3.” The Associated Press notes, “If you don’t leave the theatre humming a Gloria Estefan hit, it may be time to check your pulse!”

BEAUTIFUL won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, with its impressive array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/ Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend,” and the title song.

PPAC NEWS IN MEMORIAM:

Zeno P. Trabucchi

The Board of Directors and Staff of the Providence Performing Arts Center sadly mark the passing of longtime, dedicated Board member, Zeno Trabucchi. Zeno served on PPAC's Board from May 2003 until March 2016, but his commitment to the arts and involvement with PPAC pre-date that tenure. Zeno first became involved with PPAC when his firm, Metals Recycling LLC, sponsored the Theatre's only presentation of internationally-acclaimed dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov in spring of 1991, making that memorable performance possible. Later, as Controller for Patriot Metals, he collaborated with PPAC to sponsor several other PPAC performances. His commitment to the theatre will always be remembered. A native of Verona, Italy, Zeno was a true Renaissance man with a love of and interest in everything: art, literature, food, wine, music, theatre, dance, and more. He was at once serious yet mischievous; his warm heart and matchless wry wit made his world view unique. We extend deepest condolences to Zeno's family - his wife of 51 years, Gylean, his children Chiara, Mark, and Sarah, their spouses, and his grandchildren. Photo courtesy of The Trabucchi Family.
