Go straight through 4 traffic lights and turn left at the 5th traffic light onto Broad St, which becomes Weybosset St. From points south (take 95N to Point St exit 20) and from points east (take 195W to Point St exit 1A): proceed straight at the traffic light at end of exit onto E Franklin St. At Broad St, turn right at the light (Broad St becomes Weybosset St). PPAC will be on the right side of Weybosset. From Worcester/ Western Massachusetts: Take 90E to exit 10A (Worcester/Providence, Route 146/20), which will lead to Route 146S (Providence). Take Route 146S and merge onto 95S in Providence. Then, follow directions for “from points north.”

Pie Recipe Submissions Due March 8 PPAC and WAITRESS are hosting a creative pie recipe contest, in partnership with The Providence Journal and WPRI CBS 12 The Rhode Show. We are looking for your most imaginative pie recipes that are inspired by the whimsical recipes of the show’s protagonist, "Jenna." Send your original or favorite (with appropriate credit if not an original recipe) pie recipe to cdipompo@ppacri.org by Friday, March 8 at 5P. Please include your name, address, and phone number in the email submission. Finalists will be notified and asked to bake their pie for judging. The grand prize winner will receive four tickets to see WAITRESS on Tuesday, May 28 and will have their recipe inserted in the first 50 copies of Sugar, Butter, Flour: The Waitress Pie Book sold at the Theatre during WAITRESS' engagement. Their recipe will also be printed in the Food Section of The Providence Journal!

The Next Stop BROADWAY® program, presented by PPAC, will take place at The Vets, August 12 – 16 and will consist of classes, workshops, and rehearsals focused on classic Broadway shows. The week culminates with an “Opening Night” performance for family and friends in the afternoon on August 16, followed by a party for all in the Gallery at The VETS. Paid registrations are limited to 70 participants (“cast members”), ages 10 – 17 by August 1, 2019 and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarship spaces are available on a non-competitive basis for children with financial need. Registration and scholarship applications can be downloaded at ppacri.org/outreach/next-stop-broadway

WAITRESS tells the story of “Jenna,” an expert pie baker working at a local diner and stuck in a loveless marriage. Her salvation comes in the form of her daughter, “Lulu.” The character of “Lulu” is a sweet and carefree four to five-year-old who appears in the production’s finalé. Qualified young girls should be shorter than 4’2 and be no older than 5 years and 3 months. Individual applicants are welcome, as are sets of twins or siblings. Space is limited to the first 60 applicants to sign up. The “Search for Lulu” will take place in Providence on April 10 at 10A and 1P and will last approximately 2 hours at PPAC at 220 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence. The audition will consist of the child reading two lines from the show. If possible, parents should bring a current head shot and résumé for each child. Headshot, résumé and prior acting experience is not required. The character of "Lulu" will be cast locally in Providence; two girls will be selected to share the role. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM is performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this one of the largest productions on tour in North America.

BankNewport Family Night at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory We had a “scrumdillyumptious” time at our preshow event for BankNewport Family Night at Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. The pre-show event was co-emceed by ABC 6 News Anchor Christina Myers and Coast 93.3 On Air Host and Programming Director Rob Anthony. Christina and Rob spoke with CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY cast members Sabrina Harper (Swing, u/s Mrs. Bucket) and Brynn Turner (Violet Beauregarde) about their performing arts backgrounds and touring.

A Special Master Class at DelSesto Middle School
PPAC and cast members from Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY visited DelSesto Middle School to teach a dance master class. A group of DelSesto theater students worked with Sabrina Harper and Karen Hyland (Swing, u/s Mrs. Gloop) on choreography from the song “Candy Man” in the show. The students also performed a piece from their upcoming production of Wonka, Jr. for Sabrina and Karen. The students also had the opportunity to see CHARLIE at PPAC on opening night. These tickets were underwritten by the Robert F. Stoico/FIRSTFED Charitable Foundation.
