A PPAC BROADWAY SPECIAL! February 27 – March 4
// Tickets: $110 - $46
After launching its National Tour at PPAC in the fall of 2015, BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL returns to the Theatre for a special week-long engagement. BEAUTIFUL tells the inspiring true story of Carole King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Several cast members have been a part of the BEAUTIFUL National Tour since it opened in Providence over two years ago. Sarah Bockel, who stars as Carole King, previously understudied the role. Andrew Brewer (Gerry Goffin) and Jacob Heimer (Barry Mann) performed originally as the musical duo The Righteous Brothers. Rhode Island native John Michael Dias performs as Neil Sedaka, Lou Adler, Bobby Hatfield, and others, and is excited to be performing at home again. “I grew up watching all the big shows coming through the PPAC,” said Dias. “It’s really an honor to be performing on that stage for the fourth time.” Learn more: beautifulonbroadway.com BeautifulOnBway

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS is the romantic story about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl, and the city of Paris, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. Directed and choreographed by acclaimed 2015 Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon, the show features the music and lyrics of George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, and a book by Craig Lucas. The score of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS includes the songs "I Got Rhythm," "Liza," “’S Wonderful," "But Not For Me," "I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise," and orchestral music including "Concerto in F," "Second Prelude," "Second Rhapsody/Cuban Overture," and "An American In Paris." The production opened to rapturous critical acclaim at the Palace Theatre on Broadway in April 2015 after its world premiere at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The New York Times proclaimed it as “a triumph! Pure joy!” Variety noted, “A dancer is a thing of beauty, and there is beaucoup beauty in director-choreographer Christopher Wheeldon’s ravishing production.” The New York production closed in October 2016 after playing more than 600 performances. PPAC NEWS IN MEMORY OF
Janice Skelly A longtime colleague and friend of many at PPAC, iHeart Media Consultant Janice Skelly recently passed away after bravely fighting a long illness. High-spirited, creative, glamorous, generous, and blessed with a great sense of humor, Janice loved her work and especially enjoyed all the colleagues who became her friends over many years - she always went the extra mile for her clients - sharing a laugh, the latest good book, and shopping tips along the way. She was inducted into the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame in 2014 as the recipient of the Shepard Award in recognition of her outstanding work in radio sales and promotions, the only salesperson to date to be so honored. Janice was a gem; she will be missed, but always remembered with a smile.
