THEATRE NEWS

WELCOME TO PPAC! Three new staff members have joined our Administrative Departments; please join us in welcoming them to PPAC!

Photo: Zooey Arnold-Conner

PPAC Board of Directors and staff members held a going away party for our Office Manager, Rosemary SienkoKoehler on September 12. Rosemary is retiring after 33 years at the Theatre; she and Rosemary Sienko-Koehler with her husband, Richard, are her husband, Richard Koehler relocating to Florida, but truly, she is the one bringing the sunshine to that state.

Danielle Blue is our new Administrative L to R: Accountant Jillian Robillard, Administrative Office Manager. She comes to PPAC from Office Manager Danielle Blue, and Outreach and Engagement Coordinator Betsy Rinaldi. Hasbro, Inc, where she was a marketing coordinator. Danielle was an educator for nearly twenty years prior to working at Hasbro. Her family are passionate supporters of PPAC; they are current subscribers and have participated in Next Stop Broadway®.

Photo: Caitlyn DiPompo

Jillian Robillard joins our Finance Department as an accountant. Jillian worked at a public accounting firm and received her degree from Bridgewater State University. She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Dan, and her dog, Dory.

FAREWELL, ROSEMARY UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!

Betsy Rinaldi previously worked as a Box Office Supervisor at PPAC and is now our Outreach and Engagement Coordinator. Betsy has a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from URI, and she is a Resident Company Member at EPIC Theatre. She also made her NY debut at FringeNYC last fall.

Rosemary has unfailingly greeted everyone – Board and staff members, patrons, visitors, vendors, and more – with a great smile, a kind word, and a willingness to quickly assist in any situation. She has managed many tasks with patience and hard work; her dedication was recognized with a R.O.S.E. Award from the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB). Rosemary expressed her thanks and appreciation to all and said she could not believe how the time has flown! Neither can we. So here’s to you, Rosemary – enjoy your new home and adventures to come! We’ll remember these years together fondly and look forward to seeing you again. It’s not good-bye, but just “so long” for now. - PJP

PPAC Board Chairman Joseph W. Walsh, Esq. announcing that Disney Musicals in Schools will be launching in Providence at a press conference held at Providence City Hall.

Joseph W. Walsh, Esq., Chairman of PPAC’s Board of Directors, announced at a press conference held in the Alderman’s Chambers of Providence City Hall that PPAC has been awarded a $120,000 grant from Disney to bring Disney Musicals in Schools to Providence. Disney Musicals in Schools is a free initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. The grant funds two years of programming; the Providence Performing Arts Center will select five area public elementary schools to participate in the 2019 - 2020 academic year, and another five will be selected for the next academic year. The selected schools will participate in a 17-week musical theater residency, led by a team of teaching artists trained by PPAC and Disney Theatrical Group, at no cost. Each school will receive performance rights, education support materials, and guidance from the teaching artists. The program features a professional development focus, through which participating school teachers partner with PPAC’s teaching artists to learn how to produce, direct, choreograph and music direct, culminating in their first 30-minute Disney KIDS musical at their school. As a capstone to the experience, the Theatre will host a Student Share Celebration in which each school performs one number from their show on the PPAC stage for an audience of students, teachers, family, and community members. - PJP
