NEW DMEK trephines from Janach Kestrel Ophthalmics is pleased to announce the launch of a range of disposable DMEK vacuum trephines from Janach. As fine instrument makers, Janach are at the forefront of innovation and technology and have designed a full set of reusable and disposable products for the corneal surgeon. These trephines include a 10.0mm calibrated blade punch with a fixed cutting depth of 100Âľ to allow for safe and quick detection of the descemet membrane. The design of 21 vacuum holes and eight cardinal holes allows the distribution across the donor cornea to be equal and therefore kinder to the tissues, having a tendency to induce far less striae and endothelial damage. The new enhanced suction system and an innovative design of the blade allows the surgeon to perform a precise cut of the lenticle under constant visual control. Vacuum donor punches are also available in six sizes from 8.00mm up to 9.50mm in 0.25mm increments. AngioVue: the only commercial OCTAngiography (OCT-A) system The AngioVue is the only commercially available OCT-Angiography system capable of imaging and displaying function and structure of the ocular microvasculature, through a non-invasive procedure. The innovative system uses a unique dyeless technique to quickly evaluate the functional blood flow of the retina and optic nerve. This method allows the procedure to be performed in everyday clinical practice and unlike fluorescein angiography, can be repeated as often as required, with no risk to the patient. The AngioVue combines fast spectral-domain OCT (70,000 A-scans per second), motion correction technology (MCT) and split spectrum amplitude decorrelation angiography (SSADA) with CUDA parallel processing architecture and en face visualisation of 3D OCT data. These combined result in an innovative and unique solution for visualising ocular blood-flow in the vessels. Oraya Therapeutics receives professional society guidance on use of radiotherapy for wet AMD in Germany

Heidelberg launches second in series of interactive video tutorials for new Widefield Imaging Module

Oraya Therapeutics announced that the German Ophthalmological Society, the Retina Society and the Professional Association of German Ophthalmologists have issued a joint opinion on the adjunctive use of radiotherapy with the IRay® Stereotactic Radiotherapy System for neovascular agerelated macular degeneration. The opinion provides guidance for selecting and treating patients with radiotherapy adjunctive to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (antiVEGF) therapy in the treatment of wet AMD. “The joint opinion now provides guidance for ophthalmologists throughout Germany to identify those patients who can benefit from Oraya Therapy for wet AMD. There is a large patient population that does not respond well to anti-VEGF monotherapy, and our aim is to offer these patients in Germany an additional option to maintain their vision and also decrease the burden of frequent injections,” said Oraya Therapeutics CEO Jim Taylor. “We are well positioned with our IRay system at major university eye clinics in Germany, and will continue to expand our presence to make the therapy available to the patients who qualify and elect to pursue this alternative.” The full opinion, titled ‘Stellungnahme von DOG, RG und BVA zur Strahlentherapie bei neovaskulärer altersabhängiger Makuladegeneration’ is accessible within the German Ophthalmological Society website at http:// www.dog.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Stellungnahme-RG-DOGBVA-zur-Strahlentherapie-bei-neovaskul%C3%A4rer-altersabh%C3%A4ngigerMakuladegeneration.pdf More than 550 patients have been treated with Oraya Therapy in three European countries, including Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The IRay Radiotherapy system is a CE marked medical device. In the US, the IRay system is an investigational device and is not available for sale.

The Widefield Imaging interactive video tutorial is an innovative selfeducation tool that allows clinicians and operators to educate themselves individually and to self-test their knowledge about the use of the new software and lens attachment. The Widefield Imaging Module provides a 55 degree field of view for all SPECTRALIS fundus imaging modalities including MultiColor, BluePeak, infrared reflectance, angiography, and also OCT. Covering the macula, the optic nerve head and areas beyond the vessel arcades in a single image, the Widefield Imaging Module facilitates comprehensive diagnostics. The highresolution, high-contrast scanning laser images captured with this SPECTRALIS module offer diagnostic capabilities superior to conventional fundus photography. The Glaucoma Module Premium Edition (GMPE) interactive video tutorial, the first in the series, gives insights to new features and diagnosis possibilities of GMPE. Each e-learning module will be automatically installed free of charge by updating the SPECTRALIS software version or can be downloaded here http://www.heidelbergengineering.com/ international/academy/e-learning-2/

The future of IOP measuring: icare Pro Tonometer The icare Pro tonometer offers simple, accurate IOP measurement without the need for anaesthetic or specialised training. The Pro is based on rebound technology whereby a small probe makes momentary contact with the cornea. This is barely noticed by the patient and an accurate IOP can be calculated within seconds. A versatile device, the icare Pro can be used both upright and in supine situations such as in theatre or for small babies. With an intuitive colour screen, the patient’s IOP is displayed, clearly showing results for both the left and right eye. Standard deviation of each set of results is also displayed to indicate the reliability of each reading. For ease of use, a docking station can be purchased which both holds and charges the device. The Pro can be connected to a PC via USB and results transferred to icare LINK software. medeuronet partners with Scotia Vision

2WIN mobile refractor and vision analyser

medeuronet (Strasbourg, France and London, UK) and Scotia Vision (Tampa, FL) are pleased to announce the formation of a partnership designed to leverage each company’s unique expertise – with medeuronet focusing on commercialisation of new medical device technology in Europe and Scotia Vision focusing on the US market with ophthalmic drug, drug delivery and medical devices. medeuronet develops a strategic relationship with medical device companies from pre-market launch requirements through to execution of sales strategy, in order to drive success at a European level. Founded in 2009, Scotia Vision focuses on ophthalmology and specialises in drug, drug delivery and medical devices for both established and start-up companies. Scotia Vision provides strategic, marketing and sales planning, business development and licensing expertise, as well as product launch preparation in the US.

The 2WIN is binocular refractometer that measures both eyes at the same time, in real life vision conditions. The 2WIN measures; • Refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism) • Pupil parameters (pupil size and distance) • Sight anomalies that may be related to anisometropia, anisocoria, strabismus and phoria. The 2WIN takes the refractive measurement of the patient from approximately one metre away. This eliminates the need to seat the patient at a desktop refractor. Simply ask the patient to fixate at the centre of the device, point and shoot, just like a camera. The 2WINs red/green system tells you when you are within the correct distance range, helping you to get the perfect reading. A scale of 1-9 tells you how reliable your readings are.

The Octopus 900 – the official successor to the original Haag-Streit Goldmann perimeter The Octopus 900 is the only perimeter of its kind which allows four methods of visual field assessment, in one instrument. It allows detection and follow-up of a range of ophthalmic conditions using standard white / white, blue / yellow, flicker and kinetic perimetry. As the natural successor to the HaagStreit Goldmann perimeter, the Octopus 900 provides optimum conditions for fast and reliable results. Used in conjunction with the powerful EyeSuite software, the instrument allows for comprehensive analysis of visual fields. The Octopus 900 has a true Goldmann-sized shaped cupola, which covers the entire 90º visual field area, allowing accurate manual and automated Goldmann perimetry. Its astounding productivity allows the instrument to perform full threshold and supra-threshold testing in just over two minutes per eye, and screenings in under one minute.
