Sheriff’s offi ce charges suspect in larceny, shoplifting incidents
Earlier this month, Guilford County Sheriff’s Office asked for the community’s help in apprehending a suspect who committed larceny on the afternoon of Nov. 28 at Village Pizza in Stokesdale, and shoplifted items from Clouds Tobacco in Oak Ridge Marketplace about two hours later. The suspect (shown in photo at right, taken from video footage), has since been identified as Prince Alexander George of Grove Drive in Stokesdale and now has outstanding warrants for arrest for Felony B&E, Felony Larceny and Misdemeanor Larceny (two counts). Editor’s note: According to N.C. General Statute 14-72.1, shoplifting is defined as willfully concealing the goods or merchandise of a retail establishment, “not theretofore purchased by such person, while still upon the premises of such store.” Shoplifting is considered a Class 3 misdemeanor (the lowest level of criminal charge a person can receive) if it is a first offense. Generally, once a person has left the business premises with the stolen goods, they can be charged with larceny. Larceny can also be committed against an individual and at a location other than a business.
