This year we wanted to correct those mistakes, so the aerodynamics
PSEM team members never stop working. It is less than a month left until the first race and the last preparations of the GP17. EVO are almost re ady. The team has worked tirelessly so that everything is ready and no detail is forgotten. Although we re us e d th e mo no co que of GP 17 we decided to redo all the covers with the aim of improving its fixation with the application of anchor nuts. In addition, the rear wheel covers, which were redesigned, not only got a good finish as their rigidity, increased considerably compared to last year, proving th a t h a rd wo r k p a y s of f.

OUR SPONSORS AMG AMG is a metallurgical and a precision metal working company, focused on CNC Machining (Computer Numeric Control) and with a growing performance in
MIL CAVALOS Mil Cavalos is one of our most recent. This company is dedicated to importing and exporting classic cars to and from the UK. Thus, this bridge is established since 2014, which has since satisfied many cus tomers. It is in this sense, and taking advantage of the bridge created by the Mil Cavalos, that this partnership was established. Mil Cavalos has been readily available to help us with the transportation of our latest prototype to the competitions. Given this availability and its experience with shipping to the UK, we could not be more grateful and confident in this new partnership.
Industrial Metalworking. Recently they machined the backwheel hubs, transmition chain tensor. They proceded to anodized the components. Anodizing is a superficial treatment with the purpose of preventing oxidation. We are very thankful to AMG for providing this componentes and services and we hope to continue to work with them for a long time.

OUR SPONSORS RUI MATIAS RUI MATIAS is one of our newest sponsors and has experience in the fields of carpentry, project execution, architecture and prototyping for over 30 years. They provide several machining technologies, a CNC up to 5 axes, 3D printing and vacuum press, they recentl y machined and varnished the molds for the lids of the monocoque which are being remade to improve GP17.EVO. We are very thankful to RUI MATIAS for providing us with their experience, inovation and knowhow. We hope this is only the beginning of a lasting relationship.
M3T M3T – Meta lomecânica 3 Triângulos is another sponsor in the machining area. M3T is a company which operates in the production area, and aims to improve its efficiency and quality through inovative procedures in order to greatly upgrade the quality of its products. This is not the first time that M3T machined some components – in the last year we have worked together in GP17. This year they supplied us with the spindle support assembly. We want to thank M3T for all the support they have given us and the excellence of their work.

MORE NEWS... PRITING THE WHEEL COVERS We got in touch with iExperience Center through Mr. João Queiroz who authorizes the space usage to 3D print parts that will be directly or secondarily used on the prototype. We were also supplied with 6kg of PLA filament by Bee Very Creative. The first 3D printing task, that is currentl y underway, is the printing of the wheel’s covers with the purpose to increase the vehicle’s aerodynamics. They will be placed in the inferior part of the monocoque surrounding the wheels. It was this partnership with iExperience’s capabilities that lead us to participate in a Siemens fair in which we are very grateful to have participated in. We have to thank iExperience Center and Bee Very Creative for all the help and support in the duration of the project.
TESTING THE GP17 This month we tested GP17.EVO in the facilities of our university. This test was very enlightening since it was the first time the car was driven by the new pilot and realized the improvements we still have to work on. Sadly, a problem came up in the electronic department at the beginning of the race. We hope that Inês will reflect our successful work in her driving in the upcoming competitions.

CAROLINA POUPINHA This month we get to know Carolina Poupinha, recentl y graduated in Mechanical Engineering, this being her second and final year in PSEM, moving to Sweden regarding ERASMUS program. Some of her motivations are her love for sustainability and energetic efficiency. Given this, she joined the Marketing and Comunications team where she
In her two years in PSEM she recalls the responsibility she felt, but she recognizes the importance of this experience to her future, not only because of the contact with the corporate world but also for her colleagues and team work. When questioned about the future of the project, she believes the will and cooperation of the team are the key factors to achieve the established goals. The ambition and the potential of this project will lead to a rewarding future. To the future students she encourages them to join PSEM, noticing that there is a lot to learn and a lot to explore. In her opinion, the combination of the theoretical learning in the faculty and the practical skills achieved in PSEM are a great foundation for a student in his early career.
