As everyone arrived and Phil came to speak to us the little chatter that was going on fell silent and while the talented DJ spoke the whole room seemed to brighten and everyone knew that the party was going to be a bundle of fun.

Finally, the time came for lunch and everybody was so hungry from their day of being fantastic pop stars. When we got to the kitchen our eyes were met with a fabulous birthday feast laid out on the table by Jane. Once the food was completely gone, and all of the girls stuffed to the brim, Phil came and handed out the CDs of our band ‘Liz and The Glitter Moons’ everyone was thrilled by the sight of them! So what makes Lincoln’s event stand out from the crowd? Visitors are welcomed to this beautiful city and the traditional Christmas Market, to enjoy cultural entertainment and stroll around more than 250 stalls nestled within the square and the surrounding area. The market, which is organised by the City of Lincoln Council, has developed dramatically since it began as the UK’s first Germanstyle traditional market with just 11 stalls in 1982. The German link is still strong today, with treats and unusual gifts on sale from Lincoln’s twin town of Neustadt-an-der-Weinstrasse. The Lincoln Christmas Market gives visitors a truly festive experience, with a traditional, high quality event for all the family. Children will be able to soak up the festive atmosphere at their dedicated Winter Wonderland at the Lawn. In the Christmas Crafts area, they’ll be able to make their very own cards and decorations. For visitors of all ages, the traditional funfair on Westgate is the place to be, with the stunning Victorian carousel filling the air with music and light.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week 20 - 26 January 2013
GET YOUR SCHOOL INVOLVED!
Schools across the country are being encouraged to help educate their pupils about the benefits of a healthy balanced breakfast during Farmhouse Breakfast Week (20-26 January 2013). Now in its 14th year, Farmhouse Breakfast Week is organised by HGCA on behalf of cereal farmers and producers. It aims to educate people about the importance of eating breakfast and to inspire the public to shake up their wake up and eat breakfast every day. With 32 per cent of British children regularly missing breakfast, holding a school breakfast event provides a fun way of encouraging healthy eating habits from a young age. Research shows that eating breakfast can make you happier and healthier, improving concentration, memory and mood. There are a huge variety of ways for schools to take part, from holding a breakfast club activity, to local farmer or chef visits, classroom activities and educational games. HGCA is providing free resources for schools and teachers to get involved which are all available on the website www.shakeupyourwakeup.com
500 KIDS, 50 SCHOOLS, ONE WINNING TEAM! Lincoln Castle Academy awarded funding by Peter Jones to become the ultimate tycoon in school… Kongo – a business created by students from Lincoln Castle Academy was selected by wellknown entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE to receive funding, based on their business proposal submitted last month. The school team has had one week to prepare, before trading gets underway today for the four week period. The campaign, backed by the Peter Jones Foundation, will create over 100 new businesses in schools up and down the UK, which will ultimately encourage a whole new generation of entrepreneurs to think big. The scheme champions entrepreneurship and aims to put enterprise at the heart of the education system in Britain, by helping young people to develop the skills and knowledge required to set up their own business. The competition is open to all UK school children between the ages of 11 and 18. Participating teams will now compete against each other to make as much profit from their original seed capital as possible, with the most profitable team being crowned the Ultimate Tycoon in Schools. Lincoln Castle Academy impressed Peter Jones with their social enterprise venture selling phone socks and solar panel phone chargers and is made up of 20 students ages 12-17. In December, the winning Tycoon Businesses will be announced, which will be followed by an awards ceremony in January 2013 to celebrate the achievements of the top performing teams. Schools are invited to register their interest for the 2013 competition by visiting:
