Chairman’s foreword

Lt Col Sean O’Dwyer looks forward to a season of superb polo in general and Guards Polo Club in particular – Brian Stein. My fellow Board Director Major Jamie Hayward pays tribute to our former Chairman who was a Playing Member at Guards Polo Club for some 50 years.

La Martina is another brand that has aligned itself with this Club for more than a decade. Long-term sponsor of the historic Varsity Day and the 15-goal Centenary Cup, and the official supplier of all of the Club’s kit and clothing, La Martina generously expanded its partnership in 2023 by supporting our tournament at La Aguada in Argentina.

In addition, La Martina’s Becky Simpson and James Neighbour, the Club’s Chief Operating Officer, have just returned from a successful trip to India, promoting both La Martina and the Club to new polo audiences. Such innovative partnerships will reap rewards for both parties.

I am delighted to confirm that Access Bank has renewed its excellent partnership with us until 2026. This vibrant day always delivers for those playing and spectating as well as raising substantial funds for UNICEF. We look forward to welcoming John Collins and his fabulous Talacrest Ferraris back to the Club this August too.

With Harry Wilson and the Searcys team returning to our Clubhouse, Laurent-Perrier in abundance behind the bar, chilled Clinova goodies in the team tents and the date set for the Members Welcome to the Season, we are ready to welcome every Player and Member through our doors. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible as the year progresses and I wish you all a successful season, on and off the field of play. u
