Conosco delivered a convincing performance to win the Phoenician Cup in July 2023. Jeremy Pemberton’s squad defeated last year’s champions, Segavas, 10–6 across four chukkas. This tournament was founded by the late Eddy Arida, who was a competitive, Playing Member at Guards Polo Club for many decades. So we were delighted to welcome Eddy’s granddaughter Diala to present the prizes.

Finals day was a particular highlight for Pemberton as he was also named the Most Valuable Player. Meanwhile, the Images of Polo Best Playing Pony prize went to Don Urbano Sensata, played by Segavas’s Juan Gris Zavaleta. Thirteen teams had taken part in this 12-goal tournament, delivering some great games in mid-summer. The sub final was a good example of the competitive nature of the tournament with Maximilian Kirchhoff’s Snake Bite narrowly winning this game. They beat Philipp Mueller’s Wascosa/ Standing Rock 7–6. u
