GuardS Ladies Charity Polo TOUrnament Clé de Peau BEauté Vikings strength wins through

Our celebration of ladies’ polo culminates in three, fast-paced matches, surrounded by some equally impressive hospitality, retail therapy and fundraising.

Vikings dominated the final of the Clé de Peau Beauté Guards Ladies Charity Polo Tournament. Siri Evjemo-Nysveen’s stayed ahead of their rivals, the defending champions, Semper Anticus, to win the match 7–6 and receive the Lord Patrick Beresford Trophy. Siri’s Vikings team were very much in command during the first three chukkas of this final and headed into the final chukka with a comfortable three-goal lead (7–4).

Clarinda Tjia-Dharmadi’s Semper Anticus never gave up though and fought back strongly in the final chukka. Lucy Coddington and Nina Clarkin delivered some excellent team-work to close the gap. However, the impressive play and superb goalscoring from the Argentine Lia Salvo, particularly in the early stages of the game – Vikings were 5–2 up at half-time – had given Vikings a comfortable cushion.

Not surprisingly, Lia’s confident play was rewarded with the Most Valuable Player prize, while the Best Playing Pony honours went to Nina’s Lovelocks Florin, a 10-year-old bay whom she had played in the last chukka. Siri received the trophy from Lina Rassi, General Manager at Shiseido Group, representing Clé de Peau Beauté, who were celebrating their third year of sponsorship of this competition.

Earlier in the day Maize Dulce retained the sub final 10–7½. They beat Los Quirones on The Duke’s Ground in an equally fast-paced affair. In the final match of the day the sponsors’ team, Clé de Peau Beauté defeated the Guards Polo Club squad 5–1 to win the charity trophy. Mindi Byne’s Pirata was named the Best Playing Pony and received a stunning flora headcollar, this year created by a former Assistant Polo Manager, Andy Heslop of the Chobham Flower Farm. Meanwhile, Guards Polo Club’s Elodie Avarguez stepped up to collect the Most Valuable Player prize.
