Griffith College Dublin would like to welcome you all to our annual Creative Show. Every year students from our creative courses come together to display their work. The event will run from Thursday 26th of May to Wednesday 8th of June. Exhibitions running will include Computing, Photography, Interior Design, Film and Fashion. Many thanks to the students and lecturers who worked together to ensure the event is a success. We hope that you enjoy your visit to our campus and 2016 Creative Show!

INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE Our Interior Students this year are exhibiting their Hons degree projects as well as work from 2nd and 3rd years. Our final year students are continuing on their work on O’Connell Street: Its current status, its history and what it could be. Studies involve how buildings on the street could be repurposed to create a new chapter for one of the Country’s most important thoroughfares. What would happen if the GPO was repurposed to also house a state-of-the-art internal and external city Park? Cleary’s currently unoccupied, could it be repurposed as loft apartment living? Indeed, would residential use breathe new life back into this part of the City Centre? Come see our scaled model of O’Connell Street recently featured in Arnotts over the centennial celebrations. In other years, 1916 is much in evidence in the students’ work. Interior students collected a variety of chairs some dating from 100 years ago and repurposed or recycled those using heroes of that time as inspiration. It makes for an exciting and stimulating series of pieces and a great compliment to the work done by the fashion students. Deirdre Whelan (presenter from Homes of the Year on TV) will open the show. Location: Design Bunker/Conference Centre Foyer/ Arthurs Restaurant.

FASHION DESIGN The Graduate Fashion Design 2016 exhibition features the work of 17 talented young designers, with Irish designed and made graduate collections including womenswear, menswear, knitwear, bridal and accessories. The event located in the beautiful Victorian Banquet Hall gives a unique insight into the inspiration of the creative work of the BA Hons Degree in Fashion Design graduates, offering a glimpse of their design process from concept through to the final collection. The group of graduates will showcase their business and marketing skills as well as a project set by Heatons Department Stores, which challenged the students to design a new and exciting fashion collection for the younger female Heatons customer. Graduate Romy Blennerhassett received a one year paid internship at the Heatons Design Studio where she will work with the team of designers and buyers specialising in digital print design for their fashion ranges. The event is seen as a launchpad for student’s careers with the design graduates securing an impressive line-up of Internship Awards.

GRADUATE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

The Photography Department is delighted to showcase our graduate work from the BA in Photographic Media. Eighteen full and part-time final year students are exhibiting their major photographic projects. The work seen has been produced by each student over the course of their final year; while guided it is self-initiated and directed and is entirely personal to each photographer. The resulting Photographic exhibition is a showcase of a large variety of styles and approaches to the photographic medium. The work varies from; in-depth social documentary to explorations of surveillance, representations of male and female fashion, from investigations of the human imprint in nature to documenting Islam in Ireland from portraits made in response to the legalisation of same sex marriage to pigeons and indeed their fanciers’. All giving an eclectic mix of beautifully considered and thought provoking pieces. As well as the wall hung images each student displays their entire body of work in a book which accompanies their exhibition. It is important to put aside some time so that you can fully engage and appreciate the quality and high standard of work that is on display from our degree students. All works are for sale (see price list) and prints can be made to order at any size framed or unframed. Guest Speaker: Mathew Thompson will formally open the Photography exhibition at 7pm on Wednesday June 1st. Location: Graduate Photography Exhibition – Auditorium – AF201/202
