FLORA FAUNA GEOMETRY Pattern design collection Flora Fauna Geometry was a University design practice. My chosen topic was the botanical and animal environment, especially the colorful and various paradise birds of Papua New-Guinea. The main inspiration at the designing process was the art of the local tribal cultures and the influence of the natural environment on their customs and art. MOME 2014. Tutor: Tünde Bényei
LEVELS OF UNDERSTANDING Video installation The aim of Levels of Understanding is to give an insight to the world of people with dementia. Complexity and the different layers of personality created the core of my work. I used mixed media, which symbolizes three levels. The outer world, which is unsteady and which can be reached by the disease, is the projected video of distorted images of our everyday environment. The papercuts are illustrations of those kindest and strongest memories which reminds us on our loved ones. In these cases I used their favourite songs as inspiration that recalled them as soon as we heard the songs. The whiteness of the paper means the purity of the soul, on which the outer world is only projected, but it cannot be changed essentially by that. The video projected through the patterns of papercut creates an image on the wall behind, which stands for the memories of the patient, the fragmented and blury pieces of reality. SOUNDPATTERNS Pattern design collection SOUNDPATTERNS is a pattern design collection created by a scientific study, called cymatics, which makes sound waves visible on a membrane. MOME 2014. Tutor: Hedvig Harmati
For the experiment, I studied three individuals’ voice (blue, red, and purple colours). The first part of the collection shows the variance between different person’s voices, by singing the same tune (couloured patterns on white background.)
Differences between human sounds have been a special interest for me. To discover how mood and personality can affect the geometry of the soundwaves, creating personal and unique motives on the membrane. The second part shows their mood how they felt in that moment (couloured background with white patterns). Accords were created of each type of sound by joining the three individuals’ sound together (three coloured patterns). The three shapes of membrane shows how geometry of the surface affects the geometry of the pattern on it.
