■ ADULT MODERN Ages 16+ This class will introduce foundational elements of Modern dance technique and style. Modern is a grounded dance form and has a broader focus on the torso, flexibility of the spine, and emphasizes expression through movement. Dancers will participate in floorwork, technique of contraction and release, fluidity of movement, level changes, improvisation and creative expression. Eligible for Adult Dance Punch Pass. ■ ADAPTED DANCE Ages 7-15 Dance is for everyone! Our adapted dance class (part of the Adaptive Recreation program) will help develop communication skills through movement. This class will encourage selfexpression, creativity, and physical fitness. Class will start with easy dance moves that condition, and progress to fun steps in the center that will improve gross motor skills and coordination. Class finishes with a dance routine all can enjoy. No class April 6.

■ PRIMA PRESCHOOL DANCE Ages 4-5 This class is for the preschool age student to explore dance, creativity, and socialization. Dancers will learn how to use movement to tell a story, develop fine and gross motor skills, and be introduced to multiple styles of movement including ballet and jazz. This class is perfect for the young student who likes to move to music and has fun interacting with friends. No classes April 3–8.

■ TUTU TODDLER DANCE Ages 2-3 Through creative movement, little dancers will develop motor skills, focus, and the ability to follow verbal and visual cues. INTRODUCTORY Recital

■ RECITAL PARTICIPATION FEE Ages 4-18 Only for students registered by February 20 in a Recital Eligible class. To remain eligible, students must be enrolled in all remaining sessions (through June) in their current class. This fee is required for students participating in the June recital and covers the cost of additional preparatory rehearsals and some production expenses. A minimum of two complimentary tickets per family are included. *Saturday rehearsals are for Academy students only.

■ BALLET BEGINNINGS Ages 4-5 In our first level of introductory ballet, dancers will learn developmentally appropriate ballet technique and terminology. Students will learn classical ballet stories, follow an age appropriate ballet class structure, and end with using props and imagination to dance part of the ballet story learned. This beginning ballet class helps develop critical thinking, creative expression, musicality, flexibility, strength, and refine coordination. No classes April 3–8 and May 27.

SBDCRC Dance Academy
Serious training for advanced students
Required ballet class twice per week. Students will learn from the Cecchetti syllabus along with a variety of other methods, including Progressing Ballet Technique, to create a well-rounded dancer. In addition to ballet, students may register for optional elective classes. Dance Academy classes run September–June and provide students with two seasonal performance opportunities. Students must be available for additional Saturday afternoon rehearsals. Tuition is monthly with payments due the 1st of each month. Automatic payment option available. ■ BUDDING BALLET Ages 5-6 In our second level of introductory ballet, dancers will expand on their knowledge of ballet technique and terminology. Students will begin to become familiar with a more formal ballet class structure, including movements at the barre and in the center. This level continues to introduce students to classical ballet stories, allowing for creative movement using props at the end of each class to dance parts from the ballet story learned. Students will further develop critical thinking, musicality, coordination, strength, and flexibility. No classes April 3–8, May 27 and May 29.

■ PRE-BALLET Ages 6-7 In our third level of introductory ballet, dancers will follow a full formal ballet class structure in preparation for Ballet 1. Students will be given more complex combinations at the barre and in the center, and will begin to follow increasing verbal directions. This level continues to introduce students to classical ballet stories, and incorporates adapted movements from these ballets during end of class activities to help develop emotional expression and artistry. ■ RECREATIONAL BALLET 1 Ages 8-12 This is the first level of our recreational ballet program. Students will take a full ballet technique class, focusing on alignment, strength, and flexibility. This class uses a variety of ballet teaching methods, and lays the foundation for more advanced training. From this level, students may either continue in the recreational ballet track, or may move to the Academy ballet track with approval from the Dance Coordinator. No Classes April 3 and May 29.

■ JAZZ 1 Ages 7-10 In this class, students will be introduced to an Americanmade style of dance. Jazz combines classical ballet moves with influences from American pop culture. Students will develop strength and flexibility, learn to move in sharp, fluid and animated motions, and learn the jazz technique of isolations while working towards leaps, kicks and turns. Dancers will enjoy the use of current, family friendly music while developing the jazz dance style. This class is foundational for continued study in the jazz program. No classes April 3 and May 29.

Movement phrases in this class are inspired by music and emotions. Dancers will learn foundational technique from both ballet and jazz and practice movements in isolation and short combinations. This beginner Lyrical class is the first level of our lyrical/ contemporary program. No class April 6.
