Friends and Families, Greetings! Thank you for connecting with our virtual Leisure Magazine— Prince William County’s go-to source for all things recreation. The current COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated just how much we need our parks and trails for our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. During this difficult time the Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is working diligently to create safe opportunities for people to connect with nature and one another in the midst of social distance restrictions. All of our parks and facilities are now open with some restrictions. The Sharron Baucom Dale City and Chinn Aquatic and Fitness Centers are open to members only by appointment. Members can register in advance for 90-minute time slots and exercise in a generously spaced and safe environment. Go to HTTPS://CONTA.CC/3AOXOTZ, to secure your spot. Fitness classes will resume in the near future as we build up our staffing levels. We are also offering pre-school (www.pwcparks.org/preschool2020) and school aged childcare (www.pwcparks.org/daycare2020) Monday through Friday at three locations. Please register today. Fall is a great time to get outdoors. Like the collage of leaf colors, we offer a wide variety of options to suit all passions. Take in 18 holes at the Forest Green’s Golf Course, stroll the hallowed grounds of Bristoe Station Battlefield, shred the new mountain bike trails at Locust Shade Park, or go birding at Silver Lake Park. Stop by the Dale City Farmers Market on Sunday mornings to browse the freshest selection of fruits, vegetables, and delectable bites. A list of vendors can be found at www.dalecitymarket.com. The market has returned to the original location at the Gemini Way commuter lot. We have many exciting special events this month including: Campfire Tales at Rippon Landing sharing the story of the Silent Sentinels and their night of terror at the Lorton Workhouse and a Neabsco Boardwalk history walk exploring the story of the Native Americans in the local area before English Settlement. I am grateful for your support as a trusted provider for your recreation needs. Our passionate staff is committed to ensuring you have an exceptional experience at every touch point. Please don’t hesitate to let us know via parkscsd@pwcgov.org if we can do more to meet your expectations or if you need help finding the perfect recreation opportunity. May you strive to be your best self with Prince William County Parks, Recreation & Tourism as your partner.
