We have made it to the halfway point of the year and our ‘Love It’ program is bigger and better than ever! Please do embrace and enjoy a program of fun and fulfilling activities that have been put together especially for you. We want you all to participate, make the most out of what is on offer and, most importantly, have fun.
You will find that there are a host of activities but, please, if none of them tickle your fancy, don’t hesitate to put forward your own suggestions so that we can make them happen.

WHAT Cultural Festival - Dragon Boat Dinner
This Friday Pymble will host its inaugural Cultural Festival in Main Hall and the Boarders’ Dining Room. Each year, to celebrate the College’s extraordinary diversity, a different cultural celebration will be highlighted on the annual events calendar. This year we recognise our Chinese community with the celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival. We have some tickets reserved especially for our Boarders, if you would like to attend, please sign up in house by no later than Wednesday.

Mini golf is a fun, if sometimes frustrating way to challenge your coordination skills. Come with your Boarder sisters and challenge yourself on the new and innovative course at Gordon.
We will walk to Gordon and play a round of golf and enjoy the kiosk at the 18th hole!

Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you board the ferry to Manly, where the salty breeze whispers tales of excitement and anticipation. Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of the seaside town, where sun-kissed surfers ride the waves and bustling cafes invite you to indulge in delectable treats.

WHAT Boarders Get Baking
Today you will be learning how to make the Marillenkuchen, otherwise known as the Viennese apricot cake. This classic Austrian pastry is a wonderful combination of a simple cake base with a touch of lemon and large pieces of tender apricots nestled on top. It’s a popular choice during the fruit’s season and makes for a delicious anytime treat.

WHAT Year 10 to 12 Social with Knox
The Year 12 Boarding Prefects from Knox have extended the invitation to their 2023 Social. The theme this year is ‘Dress as something that starts with the first letter of your name’. This is always a fun event that our seniors look forward to.

WHAT Hornsby Odeon Theatre
Since being built in 1914, The Odeon has been a favourite venue of people on the Lower North Shore. This evening you have the opportunity to enjoy this historic theatre in the company of your Boarding sisters and perhaps even some of our Boarding neighbours. The program will be announced soon but with all the latest blockbusters on offer it is sure to be a fabulous night out.

Get ready for an evening of friendly competition and laughter as you join the Knox Boarders for an adventure at Strike Bowling. The sound of crashing pins and the electric atmosphere set the stage for a spirited showdown on the lanes. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first-time bowler, Strike Bowling promises an unforgettable night of strikes, spares and endless fun.

Ever tried to make a Mille Feulle? Now’s your chance! The delicious mille feuille, or “thousand sheets” in French, is a classic dessert composed of three layers of light-as-air puff pastry filled with creamy mascarpone and topped with farm-fresh strawberries.

WHAT Laser Tag
Prepare for an adrenaline-fueled adventure as you join your Boarding sisters for an epic session of laser tag. Step into a futuristic battleground, where darkness is illuminated by neon lights and the air crackles with excitement. In this immersive experience of strategy and teamwork, friendships are forged, and memories are etched in the exhilarating moments of laser tag with the Boarders.

WHAT Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes
The Archibald Prize was first awarded in 1921 and is the country’s favourite, most prestigious art awards. Awarded to the best portrait painting, its a who’s who of Australian culture from politicians to celebrities, sporting heroes to artists. Channel your inner artist and enjoy a special day at the Art Gallery of NSW. Following this creative adventure, take the opportunity to wonder through the beautiful Botanical Gardens and enjoy time around the Circular Quay precinct.

Oreo first appeared in 1912, when the biscuit company Nabisco had an idea for a new cookie, and since then Oreos have become an icon of 20th-century culture. This week our Boarders Get Baking team will reinvent this American classic with our own special twist: the Oreo Brownie slice. There’s just one word - yum!

As part of the Pymble Uniting Community, our girls will join with the congregation for a wonderful celebration of confirmations and baptisms. This will be followed by a delicious brunch in the Boarders’ Dining Room at 10.30am. This is a compulsory event for all Boarders. No leave will be permitted until after brunch.

Are you a fan of TikTok? With 1.2 million views the giant Biscoff cookie pie is a recipe trend that we have to try. Born in 1932, thanks to Belgian baker Jan Boone Sr, Lotus Biscoff emerged as caramelised biscuit made from natural ingredients. It pairs perfectly with coffee and is allegedly a combination of ‘biscuit’ and ‘coffee’.

WHAT Northern Beaches Picnic
Celebrate the end of winter with an escape to the Northern Beaches for a picnic in the sunshine. The area extends south to the entrance of Port Jackson, west to Middle Harbour and north to the entrance of Broken Bay - we will follow the sun (and perhaps the surf) to find the perfect picnic spot. It is a fantastic opportunity to explore a new destination in the company of your Boarding sisters.

So, you’ve learnt lots of new skills and are ready to take it to the next level. Maggio’s bring it on! La Pasticceria (pronounced pa stee cher EE a) is an Italian pastry shop and Maggio’s is as close as you will get to one in the Southern hemisphere. Mrs Wiedemann will lead you on this adventure to the Mecca of baking, Maggio’s at Cammeray, for a behind the scenes tour of this lower North Shore institution. Enjoy a delicious pastry, cake or bread and hot chocolate while learning from the master of baking. Make sure you sign up early so you don’t miss out.

WHAT Ice Skating with Knox
The Macquarie Ice Rink has been both a playground and training facility for all levels of skating from recreational, national, international and Olympic champions. Located within Macquarie Shopping Centre, I am sure there will be time for a little look around the shops too!
It is the only facility in Sydney to provide a full-size Olympic rink so channel your inner Torvil and Dean (ask your parents!) and enjoy some time in the cool.

Grab your activewear and swimming gear for a great adventure to Summer Bay. Venture up the smuggler’s track for one of the best views in Sydney. To the north, you will see to the Central Coast, to the south, views of the beautiful Northern Beaches and to the west the magnificent Pittwater. Is it warm enough for a dip at Pittwater or maybe a milkshake at the Boathouse?

WHAT Boarder Community Event - The Press Club
Join us at the Warrawee Club for a fabulous night of fun and dancing with Sydney’s best party band, The Press Club. With a carefully selected song list, there will be universally loved songs set to top the fun of. This night is part of our Community Weekend and all Boarders are required to attend. We hope our parents will also be able to join us following the Boarding Parent Group meeting in the afternoon. More details will follow in the newsletter but for now get ready to get down!

WHAT Garden Party
The wait is finally over! It seems like just yesterday when we celebrated the Garden Party and here we are again!. This is one of the best days of the year at Pymble. The sun is always shining, and it is a wonderful opportunity for our families to give back to the community. Girls will be rostered on to help at the Boarders stall and we have plenty of parents who are excited to join together and celebrate what it is to be a Pymble Boarder.

WHAT Year 12 Boarder and Parent Celebration Event
The Year 12 Boarders’ farewell and celebration event is a bittersweet gathering, that encapsulates the journey, friendships and growth experienced during their time together. Emotions run high as the Boarders reminisce about shared adventures, latenight conversations and the support they provided one another throughout their Boarding years. With a mix of nostalgia and excitement for the future, the Year 12 Boarders farewell and celebration event becomes a cherished memory, a testament to the lasting connections forged during their time as part of a close-knit Boarding family.

Get together with a group of friends and put together a proposal for your adventure. Whether it is a night out at a favourite restaurant, a trip to a local market or an innercity expedition, get your ideas down on paper, suggest a date and we will do the best we can to make it happen.

We would love you to invite a friend from the day school to stay over on a Friday or Saturday night. Propose some dates to your Head of Year and make it happen!
